starbuck, I agree with everyone else! YH needs to put his foot down. If the kids will be there, no dog. If the dog has to be there, then YH is on his own! This protects the children! And the dog as if the bite is bad enough, SIL could be forced to be put it up for adoption or have it put down!

starbuck, I agree with everything sophiegrace said. Definitely don't think you're being unreasonable. Is the dog living with you guys now, or does SIL just leave it there when she goes somewhere? SIL asks MIL to watch the dog whenever she travels (which basically means H and I do the work without being asked), and brings the dog whenever she comes to visit. She's not here full time but it's a lot. In that case she needs to board her. Or hire a service that comes to her houseyo watch the dog. Kids come before pets, as an avid dog lover I feel like that's a no brainer.

I was just re-ended for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Also, 3 weeks is how long ago we paid off my car. So that's cool.
This last time was worse than the 1st. Thankfully it was just me in the car. The woman who hit me had her daughter in the car. I felt bad for her, her car is likely totaled.

starbuck that's an awfully stupid assumption they're making considering the dog is already doing something. I would be upset too. It should not fall on you guys to have to worry about the dog. Your kids safety comes first. I don't think my dog would ever hurt a child but I also know she is getting older and more jumpy these days so you just never know. Does SIL have a crate or anything?

starbuck NOPE. Your responsibility is to protect your kids. If it were me Iโd put it to SIL as worst case scenario... what if something happens to J or K, is she prepared for something like that? I know we are talking about physical harm, but also the emotional effects of anxiety, scars, etc. I absolutely hate that Celine is still at MILs but every time we go I see her intense anxiety around the kids. Theyโre so unpredictable and theyโre loud and boisterous. She starts yawning, her eyes bulge, and she tries every which way to escape, so weโve started putting her in SILs bedroom while we visit for a little while (she seems to appreciate it). I know I till canโt bring her back. If not for ABs allergy (which seems to be getting better with exposing him to her), she has nipped at AV, luckily I am all over them both when weโre at MILs. Iโm hopeful sheโll come back one day, but at 2... my kids donโt understand the risk and def donโt give a shit about what I say so avoidance is the only option... and thatโs my own dog.

I'm so glad you guys get the anxiety. I don't know how you just put your blinders on and put little ones at risk - you don't want to believe the would do something...ok neither do I. But the fact is she is exhibiting some troubling signs. You can just ignore it and FX my kids don't get seriously hurt. They need to wake the fuck up.
H is lit up about this. He's not going to play nice on this. Usually he walks a line but not with the kids. But MIL and SIL are kind of notorious for doing whatever the fuck they want. I haven't heard from SIL on this matter so I'm not sure, but since she keeps trying to bring the dog around, I don't think she gets it.

I'm fine. The woman and her daugter were ok also. She actually lives a street over from me. I'm just really annoyed, but thankfully we hadn't repaired the car from the first fender bender yet. The last timeI was involved in an accident was 2006, and now here we are, twice in one month. But everyone is ok, and that's really all that matters.

Oh man jubilantsquirrel what an annoying scare. Iโm so glad everyone is ok, but what a stinker. Three weeks after paying the darn thing off?! I hope youโre having a nice drink tonight. Will her insurance cover the car seats along with the damage? I hope itโs all easily fixed so that you can actually enjoy no car payment for awhile.

You and your SIL recently had a nice moment of solidarity over your ILs, right starbuck? Maybe you can appeal directly to her and get a better response. It can be a simple โhey things are escalating between your dog and the kids. Can we come up with a plan that we both feel comfortable with to keep everyone safe and happy? I donโt want either of us to have to deal with the repercussions of a dog bite.โ A dog gate is a simple way to give the dog an entire room or area to herself and take care of the issue at hand while keeping her close to SIL and not having to pay for a kennel. Unless sheโs a barker. Then everyone will want to die.

I strained my upper back at some point last week while toddler wrangling and it's gotten so awful in the past couple of days. The muscle tension is affecting those around my right lung in the back so I can inhale or exhale too deeply or else it all seizes up. Bending over and lifting are also painful, which is a problem as I have to do it anyway because kid. Can you get yourself a foam roller? I love mine. It take awhile to get it out if itโs a pinpoint spot, but easier than getting an appointment somewhere with a toddler in tow. Hope it feels better soon!! I saw tgrimes mentioned biofreeze.....itโs wonderful!!

Happy Monday all! Tea collection and Hanna Andersson both have sales on things I like for M, but I just donโt feel like spending the money. Should probably go take my temperature or something.... I was looking at Boden and couldn't really find anything I had to buy. Very unusual for me. I bought HA stuff two weeks ago though, so... I'm just glad the current sales aren't any better than before when I bought those things. I keep feeling like Black Friday and Cyber Monday don't really offer up much. These days retailers seem to do plenty of big sales (40-60% off and such) at various times throughout the year so I never end up feeling like there's anything I absolutely have to buy. Thatโs exactly my reasoning. I shop almost exclusively online and Iโm not finding anything better than what they roll out quarterly normally. Except livie and Luca. And of course by the time I saw the email all of the stuff I wanted for M in the next size was out of stock. They had 40% off site wide which is pretty fantastic for them. Booooo.

I didn't think about carseats, I thought those only got replaced in more serious accidents? I tried to call her insurance last night but they were closed, so I'll have to do it sometime today. It's USAA, which I've heard is really easy to work with, so hopefully it won't be too much of a headache.

MH took the car to the repair place last night just to show the guy (same place we took it to for a quote after the first incident) and he said that they are usually really good about not putting up a fight. I guess there's a few out there (like State Farm) that make things difficult. When this happened a few weeks ago the guy who hit us didn't have insurance, we just went through ours, so this part is new to us. This month has been a really fun lesson in what happens after you get rear-ended!

jubilantsquirrel We replaced our graco convertible after my H was rear ended. It was a big accident though, $18k in damage to his car. We got insurance to cover the cost of the seat.

I just really hope this isn't going to be a weeks long process to heal. ๐

jubilantsquirrel graco is replace after any crash. The force may weaken where the seat connects to where its attached to the anchor system. I think the problem comes if you happen to get into another accident and it may not be strong enough to hold the car seat in place anymore.

As Iโm finishing up he goes and makes himself a snack leaving every single thing he takes out on the counter and a huge sticky mess next to it. He sits back down and eats his food while continuing to talk to me. Normally Iโm very whatever about it, but I must have been in a mood because I interrupted him right in the middle of a sentence and asked him what the actual fuck was wrong with him. He looked at me as though he saw a ghost. I mean seriously though. Put your stuff away!!! Everyone in this damn house acts as though the only reason I clean is to make them a fresh palette to destroy.

I was just reading their FAQ on their website about replacing car seats. That's really good to know because honestly I would have just kept on using them thinking since it wasn't a major accident they would be fine. I let the other gal's insurance know I that I had 2 car seats at the time of the accident. Hopefully they don't fight me on it, but it looks like Graco will try and step in if need be.
