Today I have to get some groceries, swing by Costco for diapers, and I have an appt to talk about re-doing the first floor flooring. We need to figure out if we can sand and restain the existing hardwood and find additional flooring to match, of if we're going to have to tear up everything.

B’s school is closed today due to all the snow we got. I was already planning on keeping him home due to the fact he had a fever last night and one this morning. He’s totally acting fine otherwise. I really want to bring the kids outside but is that not a good idea? His fever is 101. Other than that no plans. I’m literally stuck in my driveway so I can’t leave the house.

We have to migrate to Google suite at work before the 26th. As much as I love my Google everything, it is going to be a nightmare at work. I'm not looking forward to it. Plus I had to sign out of my personal accounts on my laptop so I'll be stuck using my phone for everything now.

Hi. I'm going crazy getting ready for the holiday bazaar. Everything is going to the wayside. The house is a disaster, I'm behind here, I forgot about a post I do on FB for my moms club. But, it is tomorrow and then it's TG break! My mil is coming on Monday and staying the whole week so I should get some good me time.

Getting ready to start putting up Christmas decorations. I'm hoping to get the bulk of it done today (tree is the priority) incase DH gets called away in the next few days. The storm yesterday caused seismic activity here from the wind and the waves crashing against the island. Pretty intense. We didn't get any damage but other parts of the island were hit pretty hard and one of the supply boats offshore needed to call for rescue (I'm pretty sure everyone is ok, but they werw taking on water and it was looking really scary for a while). Apparently it's not over yet but hopefully whatever comes next isn't as bad.

I wish I would have hired a designer for my house. I'm second guessing my backsplash after my mom said it's too boring and I have no idea if my curtains will look good and we still haven't bought mirrors or bathroom hardware. I haven't even thought about wall decor yet. There's sooo much to do.

It took three years to get this house fully decorated and furnished, I’m assuming it would have taken even longer if we had to do installation stuff. H told me to take my time to decide things and he was onto something because it was easier getting stuff once I knew how the place functioned, where the sun hit different seasons, etc, ect. The bathroom hardware probably can’t wait too long, so I say just grab what you’re initially drawn to.

I'm not super concerned about decor and even the curtains can change pretty easily but I can't handle everything else being unfinished. I feel like I can't relax when I'm at home and I can't get into a good routine when nothing is done. It's just hard to find time to do anything right now.

I think it took me 3 or 4 tires before I finally settled on the curtains in my front room. What kind of mirrors are looking for? Single ones or the longer ones? Don't worry about wall decor, it'll come eventually. I lived in my house for almost 4 years before I finally hung anything on the walls.

I feel like I can't relax when I'm at home and I can't get into a good routine when nothing is done. It's just hard to find time to do anything right now. I can completely understand that. Especially this time of year when you get home and just want to relax and chill on your couch. And I’ll be completely honest, I’m so ignorant to house building and completely assumed that when you went through the process all anyone had to do was to move their furniture and decor in. I forget that all these HGTV shows aren’t how things realistically play out. It does make sense to do some of these little things on your own now that I’m thinking about it. I bet jubilantsquirrel can find you anything you’re thinking of. As for walls, I decorate with large framed pictures. Michael’s has great deals on big black frames and I wait for Mpix to do a 25% off sale. I love me a good gallery wall.

Here's my kitchen.. i.imgur.com/QlpMdIJ.jpgWe were thinking the 4x16 subway tile from the same collection as the one below. Here's the tile from our fireplace that we were going to do up the wall behind the hood.. i.imgur.com/k6K5Sye.jpgi.imgur.com/ac1xcL4.jpgThe color is biscuit which is very slightly off white and matches our French vanilla cabinets better. You can see the difference with the fireplace trim. My mom thinks we should try to pull in a grey from the countertop and I also have MIL who thinks we should use the same arabesque to avoid too many crazy tiles. We have about 8 sheets leftover from the fireplace which is one reason we'd like to use the same (not a must). Honestly I do wish we would have done grey on the fireplace but I didn't see it at the builder and didn't think to ask. I still like it though.

Ugh as for mirrors, our ceilings are so tall and the lights are right at the top so I need large mirrors. I was thinking at least for C's bathroom, just a plain large mirror would be good. I want to do two large separate framed in our bathroom but the builder did not center one of the lights over the sink so I think it would look stupid. I need to ask them about this because they said they might be able to move it. I also have a vanity that needs one and the powder room too. My dad said we could use the mirrors out of their old house since they're going to demolish the house next year. That should save us money but I have to figure out what to do with them as far as cut and framing. You have movement in your counter top, so I wouldn't do the arabesque all over because I think it would be too much. What you can do is use grey grout for the subway tile. That way you're still pulling in some of the grey from the counter top and it'll breakup all the white a little bit. I liked the framed out tiles behind the hood. It's almost like an art piece, so I don't think it needs to match the backsplash at all. And I like the idea of matching the fireplace, especially since it's just one small section.

My mom is kind of old school when it comes to decorating and she likes more bling. I was trying to figure out if we could add a band of grey or something different in there too which is causing more stress lol.

Do you have any other scraps from the builders? Maybe some leftover molding? You can add that to the mirrors to frame them. Ikea has some plain mirrors for fairly cheap. I'd have to actually measure to see if these would work, but maybe a good starting point? www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10182165/#/50149131

Yes we were going to do a light grey grout. Actually there was leftover from the fireplace so we thought about using that. Behind the hood was going to be up the entire wall.
