Let’s talk baby stuff! DD is only 3.5yo but it feels like the first time all over again! What are you most excited about purchasing for baby? Are there any must haves on your baby list/registry? BTDT moms- what were your favorite baby items with your bigs?

I’m in a similar boat to @amc with having 3 in 4 years. Bonus because we already have full wardrobes for a boy and a girl! I did buy a coming home outfit (neutral) already because I like the idea of them each having ther own.
For this one all I really *need* is a new glider and a single stroller (our trusty old Gravo is pretty worn out).
The big thing we’re getting ready to do in prep for this baby is moving DD into DS’s room. We were hoping to time it with her birthday this weekend so that it would be like a “present” for becoming a big girl rather than getting kicked out of her room lol. With my surgery next week we’ll probably wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving though.
Anyway some of the decorations from the nursery will be following her into the big room so I will get a little license to get some new decorations for this baby! Right now I’m already working on a latch hook rug for him/her. I made one for each of the other two when they were in utero so it’s another thing that will belong to this one alone.

My must haves for baby are Dohm sound machine, triple paste, and zutano booties.
I also swear by water wipes, lotrimin and triple paste for diaper rashes. They poop so much in the beginning. my kids still do.
I need to buy another monitor and a baby bath too, I think I threw out our old one. Any baby tub recommendations?

FTM here.. with about 150 items on our two registries. But I'm most excited about the baby sign language book, the furry/fleecey polar bear type winter bunting, and of course the humidifier that I bought early for me lol!

Big ticket items, we need a new monitor and convertible car seats. I think we’ll skip a double stroller.
My current goal is to stock up on diapers and wine prior to this babe’s arrival
My favs from the first go around: Pack and play with changing station/napper Rock n Play Nose Frida and saline Boba wrap Ergo 360 BOB jogger

We need another car seat which we're buying tonight via Amazon. Other than that, we really need to stock up on diapers and wipes and some clothes (which I'm stoked about!) since all our stuff is very boy related. Not all of it, but a vast majority.
My favorites from our boys: Mamaroo. So pricey. So worth it. Kick and play piano K'tan and the Ergo Swaddles/receiving blankets. Burp clothes are a waste of time and money IMO Magnetic clothes. Hands down my favorite. So easy and quick and you don't have to worry about them getting pinched by a zipper.
Our boys were so different from each other. DS1 just wanted me around all the time whereas DS2 was more into doing his own thing so toys and jumpers were used all the time with him but never got used much with DS1.

I have nothing and I am mostly not worried about it. I got rid of everything in the years of IF.
I am borrowing a crib, but will need to get a mattress and a sheet or two.
I am borrowing my sister's travel system. (One year old, never in an accident.)
I have a very small number of handmedown baby clothes, but not many at all and almost no NB size.
I have cloth diapers. I have a moby wrap.
I do need to get a dresser or something for this little guys stuff!
So... idk? Those are the basics right?! We are moving so I just sort of thought I would figure it out after we move. Hopefully!

My big ticket item I'm in love with is my corner changing table. That was my absolute most have. We were also gifted a hatch baby rest (sound machine/ night light) that I'm really excited about using.

Totally forgot about Zutano booties. I’m pretty sure we still have a pair from DD but I just added another pair to our registry Some of my favs from DD are: -Beco baby carrier -Bebe Au Lait nursing cover from Target -Graco travel system (the car seat and stroller both held up fabulously and I’m excited to get more use out of it with this baby) -Super soft hooded bath towel (I believe the brand is Circo) that we used for over 2 years with DD. It’s huge for being a NB towel -nursing tanks from Target -A+A swaddle blankets -Sleep sacks once she was done being swaddled. I believe she wore these until about 18mo. Some must haves for this LO include: -Backpack diaper bag... which I actually received in the mail yesterday. Our first baby gift this time around! I’m already in love with it. -Rock n Play -Haakaa silicone breast “pump”- doesn’t really seem like a pump, it just catches the little bit of milk from the boob you’re not nursing on during letdown instead of it being wasted. Hoping this will help me build a stash early on.

k this is the baby bath we used with DD. We saved it and I plan to use it this time around too. It was great for us. I know some people prefer to bathe LO in the sink for the first few months which I don’t think would be possible with this one unless you have a huge farm style sink but we really liked it. It came from Target. We also need a new monitor. There are so many out there and it’s been difficult for me to choose one. Any recommendations would be great!

We're having another girl 2 years after the first, so we have all clothing and much of the stuff. What's on my list for this LO:
-Backpack-style diaper bag (Jujube BFF) -Double stroller (City Mini GT double) -Another Arlo camera that we use as a baby monitor -Another white noise machine -Her own stuffed bunny -Name sign for nursery -New pump parts for my Spectra -Haakaa manual pump -Pacifiers -Diapers, wipes, butt cream

As far as gear, we kept everything. So far I've purchased newborn diapers, newborn winter clothes (ds1 &2 were summer babies), infant insert for Ergo, formula. Still need new bottle nipples, pacifiers, burp cloths. Ds2 was a spitter so I feel like I should replace them.

+100 to Zutano booties. They were the only thing that stayed on DDs tiny newborn feet. Even infant socks fell off. I bought and used a lot of babywearing gear. My most comfortable and versatile carrier was the Lillebaby. I also liked my woven wrap, ring sling, and Lenny Lamb buckle carrier when she was a bit bigger (11 pounds I think). I can't wait to use it all again. I still wear DD sometimes in an onbuhimo but she's 29.5 pounds and HEAVY. DD spit up a TON as a newborn and I really liked these burp cloths ( link). I bought 20 of them on sale which lasted me like 3 days. I liked this infant tub ( link) more than the reclining options. It was super useful for all of 2-3 months. These ( link) nail scissors. I never had an accident and cut DD's fingers. +1 to Nose Frida and saline spray. I also suggest getting a stroller base for the infant seat. You can find them used for cheap on Craigslist/FB. We used the one for the Chicco KeyFit seat.

So I have 2 hands free to wash and rinse her. ETA: it’s a cheaper knockoff of the Tummy Tub, which is the same concept.

I bought a new infant seat a couple of weeks ago because I found a great deal. I went with the Chico again because I loved it for the other two but got the one that is supposed to last longer RFing for a toddler. Its dark purple and I love it.I have the click n go stroller base for it too and that thing is awesome. It is also the only stroller I have ever owned because I baby wear so much. I plan to buy a new woven wrap for this baby even though I already have way too many. I have a 1/2 wrap conversion infant Tula I bought with DD1 and I still use it with her all the time. I prefer wraps for the squish phase though. I'm debating buying a second PNP because we now live in a 2 story house and she will sleep by our bed in the one we have now that has the different levels and newborn snuggler. I feel like I might want one for downstairs since I'm most likely having another c section. I sold our infant bathtub and swing a couple of years ago. I plan to get a new tub but not a swing. We never used it much.

I have a question for those who got the welcome baby gift thing from their Amazon registry: How did you get it?
I went on and purchased the Diono on our registry list because we decided we could use it now rather than wait so I don't have to haul car seats around with this SPD. After I made the purchase, I went into our registry but it seems like maybe that wasn't a qualifying purchase for the baby box? I have no idea how this works.

I think purchases from the registry qualify once the item has shipped. Ahhh. No, I don't think it's shipped yet.

thelittleredm I had a similar thing happen. I filled up the registry and did the whole checklist, then ordered an item but it didn’t say that my box was coming. I figured whatever, must not have been a qualifying item and I’ll try again next time I order something. I don’t remember if it was once my item shipped that I got the box, I just remember one day I had an email saying your welcome box has shipped. So hopefully that will happen for you too!

Questions for experienced mamas!
1. Anyone use glass bottles? This was my plan (hate the thought of heating and sterilizing plastic over and over) but the ones I'd picked (Phillips Avent natural glass) are now getting negative reviews for nipple leaking.
2. Is it unrealistic to have just one protective mattress cover and one protective changing pad cover?
3. Was there anything surprising you were glad or wished you had in your hospital bag?
4. For those who formula feed, does it have to be warmed? Sorry if this is totally asinine, but I remember from baby sitting how babies get so fussy between realizing they're hungry and the bottle being ready and wondered if it's crazy to serve them lukewarm (or even premixed and refrigerated).
5. Any thoughts on good carriers/wraps post c section?
Thank you for your wisdom!

Target has a Black Friday deal, if you spend $50 online or in store on Black Friday, you get a 20% off coupon for a future purchase. Exclusions are not advertised yet that I could find. I'm excited for this because it's better than the 15% completion discount (and can also be stacked with 5% back on Target card) and will let us make a big baby purchase before baby comes and then use the completion discount to stock up on diapers/wipes/formula/bottles etc once we know what works for baby.

No experience with glass. I’ve only used Medela bottles with Dr. Brown nipples. My mom just put them in a glass of warm water to warm i believe. (Breastmilk) 2. Is it unrealistic to have just one protective mattress cover and one protective changing pad cover? Yes. I’d get at least 2 of each. they also make liners that you can lay on top instead of changing the cover every time.

sunshiney, Yes, I have used glass bottles. I can't remember which ones I had, but they worked fine. I will use glass again this go round. I would get at least two covers so you have one to put on while you wash the other.

sunshineyDs2 was exclusively FF. I pre-made a day's worth of formula in the Dr. Brown's pitcher and just poured each bottle and gave it to him cold. It made things soo much easier for on-the-go feeding. That pitcher was probably the best $15 I've ever spent. He would also drink room temp if I made one with bottled water/powder on the go. I think the heating thing is only totally necessary if you have bad water? Ds1 also got cold breastmilk bottles too. So much easier not needing to heat them!

sunshiney1. Anyone use glass bottles? No help on thos one. I have used tbe Medela bottles with both kids because i had that pump and plan to again. I also BF so dont use bottles until they went to daycare. 2. Is it unrealistic to have just one protective mattress cover and one protective changing pad cover?Yes. I ony had one of each. Dont remember it being much of an issue. I had extra plastic changing mat in the diaper bag i could use and the matress was coated and could be wiped off. 3. Was there anything surprising you were glad or wished you had in your hospital bag? My own pillow was big for me plus slippers and an oversized Cardigan for when visitors came. Also dry shampoo. 4. No first hand experience but I'm pretty sure you can do room temp and beating is just for baby/parent preference. 5. Any thoughts on good carriers/wraps post c section?I love a ring sling for the newborn phase and it keeps them high enough it doesn't pit pressure on incision. A woven wrap or Moby works well too but is a little more complicated to get the hang of at first.
