Also since we started sleep training, I haven’t nursed MOTN for the past 4 nights. I wasn’t planning to night wean, but the recommendations from the sleep consultant were to only nurse if he wakes between the hours of 12:30 and 4. The first night, he woke before midnight and then around 5, so I didn’t nurse. And then when she heard that he fell back asleep both times without nursing, she recommended not going back to night feeds at all. And now... I’m crampy today. If I get my period back after only 4 nights of no nursing I’m going to be so mad. That’s great about night weaning. I looked at the girls baby books and they were both night weaned by 8m, but J is not close.

clementine well that makes me feel better a bit. DD2 wakes up at about 3 for MOTN nursing session but hellll no to doing more than that. I let her fuss and she usually puts herself back down. Does any one love their sleep consultant and wants to recommend them?

We have finally - -after a lot of effing work- gotten to one MOTN feed (which I’m totally ok with because he’s still kind of a difficult eater and it’s the only feed that he doesn’t barf all over afterwards) and tomorrow we are off to Ontario for 5 days, in an hotel, time change and out of routine. Awesome 😒

Since the time change L has been waking up earlier and earlier for his MOTN feeding. It’s been between 2:30-3 am where we used to go to almost 5 every day. I decided last night I was going to stop nursing him if he woke up that early - he must have heard me because he didn’t wake up until 4:30! I felt like a new person this morning.
Also anyone else’s baby like to pretend they are an acrobat while nursing? Mine stands up, twists, pulls, turns. It’s...not fun. He refused to just lay there now unless he is super sleepy.

Does any one love their sleep consultant and wants to recommend them? I’ve been super impressed with the one we are working with. She’s in Texas and we are not, so everything we’ve done had been over the phone/e-mail, which has been no big deal. After we filled out this long questionnaire about L, she gave us a detailed sleep plan and was very thorough in answering all of our questions. We’re 4 days in and *whispers* things are going well. I can give you more specific info if you want, but I would 109% recommend her. www.dreamfactorysleep.comETA: did not mean 109%, but I guess I’ll leave it because I really do like her.

We got back from Mexico on Sunday and it was probably the most unrelaxing vacation I have ever had. The grandparents helped a bit but only during the day at the pool. DS1 basically refused to eat and lived on milk and still got sick with diahrea. DS2 decided that 4:30 was an acceptable wake up time EVERY day (looking back I think he was cold). To top it off DH got food poisoning on the last day and I had to basically solo parent on the plane ride home with a toddler who has no attention span even for screen tume.
Basically I need another vacation.
Also, I am sorry to everyone with mobile babies. L is thinking about crawling but isn't trying very hard.

I know L is one of the older babies in this group (9 months next week), but how often are your babies nursing throughout the day/night? Or do you remember how often your older kids nursed at this age?

cornpop L is definitely more interested in food than bottles. He is always so distracted when he is given a bottle. Last night I decided we are going to send only 3 bottles to daycare because we’ve been bringing an untouched bottle home everyday the last couple weeks. I am on the H frustration train too. I get especially frustrated with him in the morning. It is chaos getting both boys and myself out the door. H just gets up and basically walks out the door and gives me very little help. I am rarely on time for work. My life has been crazy. I am putting together a birthday party for my almost 5 year old. It is this Saturday at our house. I am worried our house is going to be overflowing with adults and kids. The forecast for Saturday is 35 degrees, so I can’t utilize outside. L seems to be perpetually sick. His noes is always running. In the last 2 months he has had HFM, an ear infection, and pink eye. I have had to miss so much work so keeping up with my 30 day timelines is difficult. DS1 was rarely sick so I think this is paybacks.

Or do you remember how often your older kids nursed at this age? Around 10mos DD1 really really cut back. Every 4+ hours during the day, once at night but she definitely didn’t need it. She got three meals and water with each meal. I made sure she was offered a lot of full fat dairy - cheese, yogurt, etc. At 11mos, I started adding cows milk to her bottles and upping the ratio so she was at all cows milk at a year. I just nursed morning/night until she weaned at 14-15mos. Because we offered so much dairy as food and still nursed, I didn’t stress too much about how much milk she was drinking.

I have no plan for how long I'll nurse DS but I've been wondering about this. How long would I have to nurse him so he wouldn't need the bottles of cow's milk? Hypothetically. And if I stopped nursing now I would need to give formula, not just cow's milk, right? I suppose it all depends on how much solids he eats. clementine it's usually 6 or 7 times. In the last month he started consuming a lot more solids it seemed like, and our average feeds dropped. This chart looks a little crazy, but we don't have a schedule so some days if he's fussy I'm nursing more often or if I get up and do something between sides it ends up recording as two feedings. And then a couple days where I DID feed him, but didn't record.

alwayscheese technically they don’t need the cows milk. They need dairy servings after 12 months. You can offer whatever you please - milk, yogurt, milk-alternative. It’s about checking all the caloric and nutritional boxes vs ounces. Whole cows milk is just nutrient and calorie dense, so it’s a good option for supplementing their diet of solid foods. If you wean before a year, you do need to offer formula where you used to nurse.

stardust84 sorry for the rough vacation i hope you can find some time to relax soon clementine she is still nursing 6-8x/day. i think this is where i was at with dd1 as well. i think around 9-10 months is when she probably was down to more like 6x consistently. i am having a hard time remembering though. i nursed her until about 20 months - probably like 2-3x/day from 15-18 months and then 1-2x/day at the end (like a wake up and bedtime feeding) alwayscheese what leaf said with the dairy. start mixing around 11-12 months but not much sooner. i feel like it has something to do with it being too hard to digest before then? i don’t know maybe i am making that up. dd1 refused when i tried to make the transistion at a year and still won’t drink much but is fine with yogurt and cheese🤷♀️ i am probably not the best for anecdotes in that department

I want to night wean but he’s being such a pain during the day not nursing because he’s distracted that I feel like I can’t yet. Last night he woke every three hours overnight for a feed. I tried not feeding him about a week ago and I got him back down but only for half an hour. H can’t get him back down at all now so I feel really stuck. And tired.
We’re also about to be back in a room with him when we move to MIL’s tomorrow so everything feels pointless as I know sleep will be a shit show at her house. Ugh.

A still feeds every 3-4 hours, even at night. 🤦🏻♀️ We had a couple nights last week where she did 2, 5 hour stretches and it was lovely. I wish she would keep it up. Trying to get more solids going and hope that helps. Maybe when H is off work for a few days we can work on night weaning a bit.
Sigh.
One day I’ll sleep through the night again right?

N is pretty sick. Fever over 100 for two days, sniffly, coughing, generally miserable .
Yesterday it seemed she was doing better but today she's really miserable and barely eating. I called the Dr but they couldn't get her in today. They said tomorrow morning we could call and get in if need be.
Ugh I'm rationally sure she'll be fine but... I'm feeling very anxious about it.

cornpop I’m sorry N is feeling so crappy. I hope they can get you in tomorrow and take care of whatever is going on. I’m sure it’s nothing major, but I know the fever can be scary. L had a fever for almost a whole week and didn’t have much of an appetite. It started out as something viral, croup, then an ear infection. Once we got antibiotics, the fever was gone within a day and he was feeling much much better.

I was supposed to go for a massage tonight because my neck/back have been so fuuuucked up.
Well instead of my massage,I spent the night at the ER with N. Her fever was going up despite Tylenol, she's barely eating and after her nap she was limp in my arms. It was scary to me so.we called the Ped who said to go in.
Of course while we were there she seemed much better and ate, although not a ton, and they said it's just a virus so I feel a little silly going in but better safe than sorry I guess.

v was up 3 times last night and hard to get back down each time. 😑. she has just mastered getting from her belly to sitting and now trying to pull up on everything - so maybe that’s it?
conference went fine for dd1. apparently she is a “joy” so she is just trolling me at home. the tantrums have actually gotten much better in the last few days, but i’m not holding my breath. i am now stressed about number and letter recognition with her though. she’ll be 3 in january and couldn’t pick any out - i feel like this is too early for this? i guess i should be doing more at home.
we have swimming and a birthday party today. i’m really hoping naps don’t get too messed up.

polson my DD is 3 1/2 and straight refuses to sit and learn any letters. She knows the three in her name and that’s pretty much it. I’m not really sure what to do about it. Know you’re not alone.
