I love supporting local business owners, but get so irritated when they can give an estimated time of arrival and then seem to fall off the face of the Earth or stop responding to calls and messages. This sounds more like shitty business owners than local business owners.

Yeah, they are all small business/only employee type places so I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially during busy times, but I am at my wit's end.

Yay, flippinchica! I'm so happy for you. coconutbacon, glad your DH still has a job but sorry that his work environment is so volatile right now. jedi, glad you do get a little time alone. Pizzaslut and everyone else having sleep problems, we are right there with you! It sucks. Nighttime sucks, naps suck, all of it sucks right now. I am wondering if it is speech development for E. I don't think it is teeth b/c his back molars feel the same as they have for weeks (sort of pushing up) and there's no action on the top ones, as far as I can feel. But E's making major advancements with his language, using adjectives ("big truck") and adverbs ("push hard") and I'm wondering if that is interfering with his sleep. I'm pretty sure his other "leaps" were involved during his other sleep regressions. He's hit like all of them. We'll just do what we always do and just push through it. This time is really crappy though b/c I am 7w pregnant and feel like shit, not just exhausted but nauseated most of the day. Paging RunsforWineandCarbs, fierymama and whoever else has a lot of experience with your kids at amusement parks! We're going for the first time this week with my sister's family. They know the park we are going to extremely well, so they've got a plan for what parts of the park to go to, which shows to try, where to eat, etc. (with E's entertainment in mind). Any other tips from you guys to make the day go smoothly? I'm pretty excited about it, I think it will be fun!

I need to write a note in a card for K's teacher whose last day is Friday. I can't find anything I like and words are hard.

coconutbacon - on an unrelated note, I've been meaning to ask. Is coconut bacon an actual thing? Like turkey bacon? Lol. It is– back on TCF there was a thread on Parenting devoted to bacon, and I tried to defend some different types of vegan bacon, including coconut bacon. It's sort of like bacon bits. You can buy it: but I usually make mine– large unsweetened coconut flakes tossed with some oil, aminos/ soy sauce, liquid smoke, and maple syrup/agave/molasses/a hint of your sweetener of choice, and cooked in a skillet or in the oven on a baking pan until crispy. I love coconut bacon tossed with greens.

easternshoregirl - For us, I always have 1 diaper bag and they allow me to sneak in some snacks (goldfish, fruit snacks) and juices specifically for K. I had to divert my eyes because security made two people throw away their waters before walking in, but let me go with 4 unopened bottles of "juice" for the kids. I take a 2nd bag if there is any chance that they will get to play in the water area and that includes towels, swim suits, water shoes, swim diapers, etc. I like to take the larger stroller to hold all the stuff and to be able to let K "lay down" if she is tired, but lately have been just taking the umbrella strollers because there are enough of us to carry things and we haven't been there for an extended period of time yet this year. I'll buckle her in when we are going longer distances and then leave her unbuckled to roam freely when she wants to get on rides, etc that are all in the same area. Sunglasses/hats if E will wear them. Extra sunscreen if you'll be there for awhile. On really hot days I carry a water/fan thing to spritz water and run the fan as needed.

I need to check out Moana. Now I know how I'll keep the kids entertained during their grandparent hangover on Sunday.

I just came in to work and started drinking the cold cup of coffee on my desk from yesterday. Zero fucks. Also, when we have people that are absent ALL THE TIME that I have to cover for, I think I should get their pay added to my cheques. No judgment, and agree with point 2. I'd be raking it in at this point if that was the rule. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

easternshoregirl, i'm actually shocked fierymama has to sneak in water or juice. But then again, i'm in FL so we are allowed to bring in water. Big coolers of food not so much. But i've never been questioned about snacks for the kids. I bring in the jogging stroller and an umbrella stroller with 1 diaper bag/bag pack. Sun block and hats are a must. To make it thru the day be prepared for plans not working. For shows or rides that won't interest the A15 kid, one parent stays with him while the other takes the 4 yo to the show/ride. We make lots of stops for both kids to get up and move. We also take lots of breaks in shaded areas. All the parks we go to have a kids play area that we devote 30 mins - 1.5 hours too. If there's water to play in we let them (spare clothes are good to have). We basically just roll with it. It's not as hard as you think - but you might need to take turns on sitting out of certain things if the A15'er isn't feeling it. Oh and don't fight the nap - if it's nap time, find a shaded area and push the kid in the stroller and let them sleep - keep them shaded - i've seen so many parents letting kids sleep in strollers with the sun beating down on them. Oh and we tend to sit near exits at shows - a quick exit comes in handy. Hope you guys have a great time!

Betweenthelines, all the accident reports I've ever seen include the officer's drawing of the accident. It will help with explaining things to Stupid Insurance, Inc. Does your mom know if chick was issued any citations (like for running a stop sign)?

She left and made her report within 72 hours (I'm assuming).

Do your toddlers hit a lot? E hits but not often and it never hurts. Yesterday, I watched a friend's son so she could go to a job interview. He's 16m. He hits A LOT and HARD. Seriously, the kid is like the Incredible Hulk. I have a bruise under my eye. He also grabbed E by her braid and pulled her to the ground. He never seemed angry while doing any of this so I'm sure he was trying to play. But it seemed excessive to me so I'm curious if other toddlers do that to this extent also.

RunsforWineandCarbs "sneaking" might have been a little strong. Like, the juice is highly visible. We use a clear bag for the diaper bag so bag checks are easier. I don't take water though because they will give free water at all the food places and most of the times, it is like the equivalent of a "small" from a fast food place.
