ktg - yeah, both Young Kim and Mimi Walters are parroting #45 and claiming that there are illegal votes involved, because somehow counting mail in, absentee and provisional ballots is cheating. Or something. It's ridiculous and frankly dangerous to our democracy to suggest such a thing.

The NYT has an updated house count as of this morning when I checked. Dems have taken 36 seats so far. There are still 6 seats that need to be called (Calif39, NY22, and UT4 and the other three are pretty solidly R- GA07, NY27, and TX23). As of now people this both 39 and 22 will go Dem with 4 having a chance to flip back to R. If that works out it means Dems pick up 38 seats. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/11/06/us/elections/results-house-elections.html

I know I do not go here often, but I'm so sick over Ohio this morning. The house again passed a heartbeat bill banning abortion as early as 6 weeks. Kasich originally vetoed, but DeWine is expected to sign on it. Also, they passed the stand your ground law earlier this week via super-majority. I want to vomit. This state has been circling the drain for a long time, but it is turning into a truly scary place.
Apologies if this has already been mentioned. I think I just needed somewhere this morning to vent my anger/dismay/whatever. Between the horrible opioid epidemic and the increasingly deep red political sentiments, I don't think I even want to raise my family here anymore.
ETA: I totally posted this in the wrong thread...apologies!

pearbear Welcome and stay. You're going to see more and more states pass legislation like that now that they see a sympathetic Supreme Court. They know the ACLU will challenge with a lawsuit and eventually, a case will make it to SCOTUS.

Welcome pearbearI’m so sick of Ohio too. I hate that DeWine will be our governor and I can’t even imagine what is to come. My H thinks SB5 will probably see the light of day again. Things are so terribly gerrymandered that I really don’t know if things will ever get better.

Instead of Gilead, you could just rename it Idaho.

We love OH and all of our family is here, but it’s going to get so bad, it’s hard to want to stay.

The losing candidate in my district have a victory speech on election night after ONE news channel said she won. Two days later the full vote count said otherwise. 😬😬😬 She is now petitioning for the largest county here to "examine the absentee ballots that so many are wondering about." So she's taking the loss well. 🙄 I just saw this and it's some nonsense. Election integrity should definitely be questioned when we count all the votes. Because we wouldn't want that now, would we?

I'm sorry Might as well stretch that land over in to Iowa because we already have a fetal heartbeat bill AND stand your ground. Welcome to conservative controlled hell.

I feel like the Midwest might actually be a worse hellscape than Texas. It’s getting pretty terrible.

The map of Orange county being blue makes me so happy. In some cases it's probably just because they can't deduct a ton of taxes now, but whatever. I'll take it.
