@jewlsofthenile I could have written that myself. We painted our "nursery" gray wilden DS2 was born but my boys have been sharing a room for a couple of years and the nursery became the playroom. Now I have cleaned out the toys and consolidated everything to the boys room and the babys room will stay gray. Our crib and dresser are a darker wood. But I'm not doing anything special to the room.

Well I ended up getting that dresser from CL and I’m really pleased with it, it was from a good company and originally would have been like $900, but now mine for $40!
MH took the shelves down along one wall so we could fit the crib in the nook there, but I’m keeping my rocker in the living room for the rest of pregnancy because it’s comfy. He set the crib up yesterday too. I’m in shock he got a move on those projects so early. Usually I have to be such a nag! I feel extra bad because right now the room is his office and when baby arrives he’ll be moving his desk to the basement.

I've been working on ideas now that we know it's a boy. I want to do a theme with elephants. I have gray paint left from the hallway. We will probably use that and then do some navy and yellow accents.

Tlex our nursery was mh’s Office too. He moved his desk and everything to our basement but there’s still a TON of stuff in the room. I’m not looking forward to cleaning it out.

H had a few unexpected days off in the last few weeks, so the nursery is in progress! The ILs are here this week, so even more progress has been made. H got the painting done, and we love it! The room originally had closet doors on it (no idea why since it was the original master before the addition was done), so H took those off. He bought a new door a few weeks ago. H and ILs put the door in, added drywall around it, and mudded and sanded it. We just have to find barn wood to go on that wall. FIL started putting trim up! Here are some pics. I’m mobile so sorry if they’re huge!

Yay orangehibiscus! That’s some good progress. I don’t have any major updates to make to the nursery since we’re in a new house and have basically just been saving this room for 2 years to be a nursery. I did get curtains up when we had a handyman at the house to hang a rod. It’s currently stressing me out because there is just so much STUFF in there and I can’t move furniture solo.

looking good! at orangehibiscusMy only nursery progress is we got bunk beds for my older two so DS is out of the crib and it is sitting in pieces in the room that the baby will be in. Realistically it will probably be summer before the baby is in the crib soo we are way ahead of schedule. Haha

I'm hoping to get started over winter break (MH is a teacher). We haven't even gone to look at paint yet but I have decided I definitely want at least one navy wall, and I'll just start painting until I think it's too dark to go any further 😂 then probably grey on the rest IF I can find an actual grey I like. We'll start looking for a dresser then too, MH gets an extra stipend this month that we planned on using for these sorts of things.

I think we've decided to do one navy wall, too, and leave the other 3 the grey/beige color they are already. Have you decided which navy you're doing? We also bought a wooden name sign from a vendor on Facebook - it's gigantic (12 inches tall, 30 inches wide) and only cost us $50 ($35 for the sign, $15 for shipping) - all the ones I saw on Etsy for that size were well over $100. It came plain, but we're going to paint it black, I think. We bought his crib and some additional artwork. The art will be in red frames and will surround his name. We also bought a black curtain rod and H found some old toy planes that he's going to spray paint red and use as finials.

Very cute lemondrop! Good luck picking the grey color pambee. It’s so hard to pick paint colors. We have a bathroom painted in Coastal Pleasure, and I love it!

lemondrop we haven't picked a paint color yet, I need to start researching though! orangehibiscus thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely check it out! I had the hardest time picking colors out when we moved in and the color in our living room definitely has a blue tint to it still, but I gave up because I liked it enough, ha.

I think I’m giving in to Hale Navy. I just can’t give up the brain space to keep thinking about it. Lol.

I had a navy room and it showed lots of scuffs on the walls. Also very hard to get good coverage. For me. I probably used cheap paint, it was like 15 years ago.

orangehibiscus oooh that looks perfect! Although last night I was looking up nurseries again and might have changed my mind all together...😂 MH is not amused. I need to just go look at paint samples in person and see if I can find what I really want and then decide.

It’s hard to finalize what you want!

We cleared out an enormous bookcase from the nursery and moved it downstairs (well, my H did). There is still a desk and hutch that need to be moved and/or sold.
We need to bring up our DD's old crib and get my nephew's from my sister, and get those set up. We did get the dresser that I had growing up from my dad's house, and that is in.
I reached out to a painter that did the inside of our house when we bought it, he's super reasonable around $20 per hour and fast. He could probably knock it out in a few hours. Unfortunately he didn't have availability until after the new year. I think we might do a blueish gray.
Little by little it will come together, but there still seems like loads to do!
We'll put the babies in pack and plays in our room in the beginning.

We got all of the work done on the nursery. We did faux shiplap on the wall where the crib will go. We will order nursery furniture next month and start decorating!

lemondrop do you have a link for the wooden name? I want to get one to go above her crib too. I have a link on Etsy so I would like to compare! So far we have the room painted. We went with minted condition from sherwin Williams. MH also got new trim, new closet door, & a new bedroom door on it. Hopefully setting the crib up this week. I’m planning on pink, yellows, and purples to go with it. Nothing insane but colorful and fun!

His name is Rich and he's super easy to work with, you just have to FB message him with the name you'd like to have made. He took a $10 deposit when I agreed upon the script and he cut the name out, then he ships with a USPS tracking number once it's been fully paid for. He takes Venmo and Paypal.

I love what everyone's done so far! We didn't get our extra check when we thought we would so we did nothing to it over MH's break, including just cleaning the room and closet out 🤦♀️ We don't have anything planned for this weekend so I think I'm going to see if MIL will watch E so we can knock that out Saturday and at least go look at paint choices so maybe I can make up my mind, lol!

One of my former colleagues/ friends offered matching cribs to me for free! It was so nice of her. We picked them up over the weekend, and my H started assembling. We still need to paint, walls so I'm going to reach back out to the painter we've used in the past. I'm thinking blue/ gray. The cribs are a honey oak wood finish.
We also decided on a dinosaur theme. My MIL made a beautiful dino quilt for my H when he was little, so I want to hang it. It's twin bed sized. It will be nice to throw down when they are playing on the floor, etc. and will get more use than just sitting in our linen closet!

Well, we built the poang chair and ottoman, and I moved the furniture around in my room to make space for it and the cosleeper. I need to get out my daughter's small stuff and pull out the gender neutral stuff. I would love to donate the girl stuff, but I'm just not ready. I still keep thinking of this baby as an "if". Maybe I will bag up the girl stuff or move it to the garage so it's closer to being out the door. Right now it's still in my kids closet in plastic totes.
