I’d like to hear some insight and experiences with telling your boss or employer about your pregnancy.
I personally thought that I would wait until 2nd trimester, but if symptoms persist might explain what’s going on and ask for the ok to work from home when needed. But then part of me thinks perhaps I’ll wait until after our annual reviews have been completed.

I have my mid term performance review tomorrow, and I go to the doctor on Thursday. My one and only appointment so far was at 10 weeks, so I am a little nervous telling people, so I will wait till after Thursday. I will probably tell my branch manager, and one of my project managers next week, just because I hate "hiding" it. The other project manager is out of town for 2 more weeks. It will be a "hey, just letting you know..." pop my head in thing. I feel super awkward, but will be happy it is out there.
My 2 project managers I will probably have to discuss projects i am on and timelines a bit, but that may be a few weeks down the line.

My work situation is non-traditional, since I adjunct at 2 different schools and freelance.
For the freelance designing, one theatre knows. They’re the one I work with the most, and love that company. I’ve really cut back my freelancing, and currently don’t plan to do a whole lot until after my “maternity leave” is over (I get to decide this part) so any of my other contacts will likely find out when I announce on FB.
For teaching, one school’s department chair knows. Partly because I needed to tell her about the FET since my doc gave me lifting restrictions and that affected aspects of my job. So since she knew about the transfer, I’ve given her updates along the way. No one else in the department knows yet, maybe I’ll say something towards the end of the semester once I’m in 2nd tri.
At the other school, no one knows. Mostly because we got a new department chair this year, and I don’t really know him. I figure at some point it will come up, but since I’m due after the spring semester ends, and I don’t teach there during the summer, it won’t really affect anything. If nothing else, my students next semester will notice. Then again, these are college students, so how much do they really notice outside their own little worlds?

I won't be letting work know until I am well into 2nd tri. Possibly closer to 3rd.

I work for a big hospital system. My office and office manager knows but I’m not telling upper admin until my 12w US and maternity screening is done. It would have been hard to keep from my immediate office because I have felt so much like garbage.
I think the work thing can be touchy depending on what you do and who you work for. It shouldn’t be because that’s discrimination but here we are America. My job will not be an issue- I’m not in danger of being let go or not up for a promotion or raise, etc. So it’s really just up to me when I feel comfortable. I do have to say something sooner rather than later because I need to plan to block my schedule and rearrange patients during my maternity leave. I already have people booked out that far.

I'm thinking of telling my boss today because I've been feeling lousy, but not telling HR and figuring out maternity leave until 2nd tri. I don't want to get ahead of myself, and DH and I need to sit down to go over finances to confirm that we can afford for me to take some time unpaid to extend the maternity leave beyond what the company provides.
