He understood where I was coming from, but his family holds grudges like you wouldn't believe...so it's likely going to be a thing for a long time. His parents watch the kids on my work days and I wouldn't be surprised if they tell us they'll no longer be doing that. Oh, man. Would it help to reach out to sil (or even mil) and try to explain now that a little time has passed? That's my plan for today I think. MIL refused to say bye to me when they left. I hate confrontation!

nam2013 we carved our pumpkins a week and half before Halloween and it was too early. I was told, but didnt do it, that putting petroleum jelly on the parts you cut, would hep preserve it. I do not know if this is true. wineallthetime I completely understand why you asked them to leave, it was an asshole move of them to bring a kid with a temp that high. Was the fever gone when they got there, so they just ignore the 24 hour symptom free to avoid spreading germs, or was it still that high? I wouldn't have asked them to leave, but I would have told my kid(s) to avoid them and everything they touched. I would have mentioned that I assume they wouldn't stay long with a sick kid. Regardless, I hope it all gets worked out quickly.

Addie did good last night, only got me up once at 12:30, then went right back in her kennel and back to sleep.
What do you all give your kids for sore throats? Evie said motrin didnt help and everything we have is for cough or cold.

I don't think the fever was that high at party time, but he was on Motrin. She called 2 hours before the party and it was 103.

I'm sorry for all the drama wineallthetime. They shouldn't have brought a sick baby over and your MIL should stay the eff out of issues that don't involve her. I hope it gets settled soon. It was beyond pretty of them to uninvite to Thanksgiving.

@peach, I think I like it, but I would need to see the style of your table and chairs to know I like it for you. This is what I was thinking

Okay thats just weird that they came at all and thought it was acceptable? Maybe SIL stays home with sick kiddo and BIL comes with rest of family.

Sorry about the rough night, lfig!! Um that's bonkers, wineallthetime. Keep the poor kiddo home when they're that sick, both for everyone else's health and because no one that sick wants to be dragged out. They're all being ridiculous.

Also good morning. Everyone is up early because adjusting for DS never works, LOL. At least getting up early to get in a decent run was easy since I'd been more or less awake since 4:15.
It's NYC marathon Sunday, so I plan to watch the coverage and try to use it to get motivated to train for Boston. GL to me, haha.

@peach, I think I like it, but I would need to see the style of your table and chairs to know I like it for you. This is what I was thinking Heres a video of the kitchen. This is my table, oak finish. The chairs are the traditional wood until I can convince A of something Like these. But maybe in black. I dont want a light with the same type of shade as the pendants. I don't want it matchy. But they have the Edison bulb and are matte black so I'd like it to have both those things. And be simple, clean lines. The silver l iui got just does not go at all now.

wineallthetime I’m team they shouldn’t have come. I have a hard time believing 103 is from teething. Low grade fever, sure, but not 103.

103 is def. not teething. It was wrong of them to come and I'm sorry they don't see it that way. You were right now to feel comfortable and I would have asked them not to come as well.

Happy DST Ladies 😉 I went out for sushi with one of my best girlfriends last night and my sister met us later in the evening for drinks. I'm feeling it a bit today, but it was worth it.
Hoping my H can get some more house painting done today. He primed some of our cedar trim, and the jury is out on whether that was necessary. The problem is that the primed wood is a different color than the unprimed...and it is not a pleasant color. Looks like baby poo. Hoping multiple coats will do the trick.

I'm the only one awake. Cadence had a long day yesterday, so I think that helped. Nothing major planned today. Grocery store and tooth fairy door. I think that's about it.

wineallthetime You have an infant who was a preemie and it’s the start of flu season. Even if the baby’s temp was 99, they shouldn’t have come.

peachsmama, I don’t mind the fixture, but don’t love it with the chairs Here’s a similar style I like. Or maybe something glass would look good with the chairs?

I’d like to think we’re a long way off from the tooth fairy, but I know that isn’t true, so where do you put this tooth fairy door? Is it so the tooth fairy can enter a room? Do people still keep teeth (and then money) under their pillow or does the tooth fairy come to the child’s door and leave something there?

I’m sorry about N slenle, we’re here if you want to chat. Thank you. She’s been struggling in things that she’s normally fine with like us leaving her with grandparents, or doing anything in a group in front of people. This is her 3rd year of dance and she wants to quit and almost had a panic attack last week so I brought her home. We’ll see how it goes this week, we’re going to meet with the dance teacher before class. I’m not too concerned yet, but i just hope it doesn’t get worse.

+whatever to team wineallthetime. Between your premie and your sister’s Newborn that’s a big stay home from me. B’s godmother missed his birthday party this year bc her son had strep and she was afraid her other kid and/or herself might be carrying it. MH was initially annoyed that she didn’t leave the sick one at home w her H and come w her other kid. The next morning the rest of her house woke up sick. Thank god she didn’t come and spread that through our whole house and all our friends and family

L had a very slight fever yesterday (like 99.6) and I texted everyone and told them and said I thought she was fine, but would totally understand if anyone decided not to come.

peachsmama I think the light fixture is fine with your kitchen and hardware, but it’s the table that doesn’t really match. Are there other lighter wood pieces in the kitchen that ties the table in? Also, when are you moving in? Will you be moved in by thanksgiving? Do you want to meet up either the Friday or Saturday after thanksgiving?

I’m having problems with T all of the sudden too. He always went to bed fine and now he fights and then sleeps with the closet doors open because he has lights in his closet. He also cried about going to school. My mom’s his teacher but she leave at 12:30 and he stays until 3. He told me the next teacher says bad words to him. I told him he could say the bad words to tell me what they were..bad words were “nap time” lol.

That’s bananas wineallthetime, poor thing needed to be at home to rest and she drags him to a party. Not cool. Hopefully the drama is short lived when they wake up this morning and realize that you were right to ask them to leave. I’m sorry, this is unnecessary drama.

wineallthetime I think you did the right thing. I probably wouldn’t have asked her to leave, not because i didn’t want her to leave, only because I’d be too chicken shit to say it. I probably would have asked her to keep the sick toddler away from everyone then shot her dirty looks all night wishing i would have just told her to leave then worrying that my inability to be direct may have caused more illnesses. All that to say: you did the right thing, girl!

Cadence's bedroom door stays closed at night, so she "needs" the fairy door for the tooth fairy to get in. We will still do the under the pillow thing, but I'll make a little tooth pocket out of felt for us to put the tooth in. I don't need the cats finding a rogue tooth to bat around the house. We'll keep her teeth as per usual.

wineallthetime you did the right thing. If she sent a text before the party went not send one when she decided to come? Did mil pressure her? Maybe send her a text this morning sassing you hope her kid is feeling better. @slene I would bring it up with the pedi at your annual appt. I'm sorry it's a difficult time with her.

I’m team wineallthetime. You did the right thing. Who calls to say my kid has a fever so we won’t be there, and then show up?? On what level is that ok? Sorry for that drama on what should have been a fun party. peachsmama I like the light with your kitchen, but your table is what is giving me pause. The table I don’t love for your space. It seems to heavy for how light and airy your kitchen space seems.
