For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3. Are you dealing with any BFing-related challenges right now? 4. Best quote about nursing from your LO (or cutest nursing-related story if your LO is pre-verbal)? Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? GTKY: What fictional character were you inexplicably afraid of as a kid?

1. How old is your LO? 18 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3 ish, sometimes not very long and sometimes it seems like forever. 3. Are you dealing with any BFing-related challenges right now? Nursing seems to be a struggle, like I want it more than him at this point. He gets so distracted by the girls and then I end up leaking later. I thought I was way past having to worry about that. 4. Best quote about nursing from your LO (or cutest nursing-related story if your LO is pre-verbal)? Lately he had been covering me back up when he is done. Super cute and polite!
GTKY: What fictional character were you inexplicably afraid of as a kid? I have no idea.

DS is 13mo.
2-4 times per day.
He’s still doing his shenanigans where he wants to nurse forever and screams if I think he’s done and start to cover up.
He finally learned to sign “milk”! We’ve had to work on the bit where just because he signs it, doesn’t mean I whip my boob out. But I’m so happy he can finally ask for it.
I was terrified of Scar and the hyenas as a small child.

1. How old is your LO? Almost 13 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 5-6 3. Are you dealing with any BFing-related challenges right now? I will actually be working part-time soon and leaving him with my mom. So I will have to stop the nursing before nap on those days 4. Best quote about nursing from your LO (or cutest nursing-related story if your LO is pre-verbal)? My older son (almost 4) keeps nursing his baby doll. Ds2 just signs milk and smacks at my boobs. 🤷 GTKY: What fictional character were you inexplicably afraid of as a kid? Godzilla ... Like the old school Godzilla movies.

Best quote about nursing from your LO (or cutest nursing-related story if your LO is pre-verbal)? I love how she asks for it. She points to it and goes “ehhhh???”
GTKY: What fictional character were you inexplicably afraid of as a kid? Hmmmm i guess the monkeys from Planet of the Apes and the dinosaurs (T Rex and raptors) from Jurassic Park

For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? Almost 3 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 0-1 3. Are you dealing with any BFing-related challenges right now? Slightly considering weaning. 4. Best quote about nursing from your LO (or cutest nursing-related story if your LO is pre-verbal)? She says milkies taste like cinnamon rolls, blueberries and strawberries but she has little cute words for each of those and it’s adorbs. Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? I am thinking about weaning. I am having anxiety about germs being transferred from dd to my two month old. I’m not sure if this is an unfounded fear but it’s on my mind. Dd asks to nurse most nights and still gets excited about it but gets distracted and sometimes doesn’t nurse the whole time (I sing a song). This is the first time I’ve considered weaning and I’m having lots of feels. I wanted her to self wean and I guess she has quite a bit but may work on weaning totally. Kind of sad for me. Not sure sad is the right word. GTKY: What fictional character were you inexplicably afraid of as a kid? As an older kid, I was terrified of chuckie.

Random question ::: how do you copy and paste a check-in on Tapatalk without quoting? If you have an iPhone I click the 3 dots on the top right and hit web view. Then I copy and paste and hit done and come back to the app view.

@kelltothekell, i wouldn't worry about the germ thing. since your big kid is nursing, you should be making antibodies to whatever they have which then will get passed on to the baby. FWIW DS1 had hand foot and mouth disease when DS2 was a couple months old and DS2 did not get it. not to mention my kids are always all up in the baby's grill anyway, so they're going to be passing germs around no matter how vigilant you try to be.
honestly, though, it sounds to me like your DD is moving towards self-weaning. that's kinda how it went with my DS2- he started forgetting to ask to nurse, or was real distracted when he did nurse. towards the end he'd ask to nurse, but then put his mouth on my nipple for a few seconds and say "all done." eventually he just stopped asking completely.
are you doing don't offer, don't refuse? if you aren't, i would definitely start.

@kelltothekell, cinnamon rolls is impressive! I apparently have a chocolate side and a vanilla side I am not sure about the germ situation... I feel like the breastmilk would help counteract that though?

1. 2.9 yo 2. 1-4+ 3. Also seriously considering weaning. I am trying to stay strong to get her through the winter, but the amount of nursing and the absolute demanding of it is kind of driving me nuts. 4. Not exactly on topic, but my 5 yo DD was trying nurse her baby at the dinner table at Nana's house last weekend and it warmed my heart. NIP... start 'em young

Yeah I think my germ fear is prob irrational. I don’t offer don’t refuse for nighttime but did kind of refuse (by distraction) the last night or so. She didn’t ask tonight. I still enjoy nursing her this germ thing just made me anxious I think I’m just anxious about flu season in general with a little baby and it surfaced there. I think I’ll move forward with allowing her to self wean since she seems to be moving that way.
