Thinking about vacation and swim lessons. I see disposables in the store I also saw online reusable ones. They look like cloth diapers. Do they both hold in everything? Is one better than the other? Do I use both? One place I was looking into for swim lessons mentions disposable and a rubber one. Tell me what you have done and what works best.

I've only ever used a disposable one. The pool I was at said a disposable was fine. Some to have rules like a disposable under a reusable or a reusable one, doubling up, etc. The reusable ones are basically a cloth diaper cover so you can always use that if you have one.
Luckily, ds has never pooped in one so I cannot attest to their ability of keeping everything in. #blessed
......
Probably just jinxed myself for Fourth of July at the shore.

We use the iPlay swim diapers. They've worked well for us. They have snaps on the side so if you do have a #2, they're easy to get off. I've had 1 #2 incident in DDs 3 summers wearing them. It contained the mess. I think if you use cloth, they get water-logged and are bulkier, but would do a similar job.

We use applecheeks reusable swim diapers as well as the disposable kind. We've never had an issue with either.

We just use the Pampers swim diapers. Mainly because I can get rebates via Ibotta on them Lol We used the swim diaper covers over the top for DS1 but I'm just putting little trunks on W over the swim diaper.

We use both by themselves and sometimes together. For the beach, I use a disposable or reusable (I like the iplay ones too). For the pool, I'm usually more paranoid if I know DS hasn't pooped for the day and will double up. The reusable ones are more snug around the legs and waist so I feel like they're less likely to let anything out. Luckily DS has only pooped in a swim diaper once and it was at the beach. For M, I have a reusable one but haven't put her in it. I'm too nervous to put her in the pool since her poops are 100% liquid and I don't think any diaper would hold that in. Maybe once they form up when we start solids I'll give it a shot... Oh fun reminder - all swim diapers are meant to contain poop, not pee. So don't put the swim diaper on until you're about to swim or you might end up with a soaked car seat.

For my toddler, we've always used disposable swim diapers, and put a bathing suit over top. We've been lucky to never have a poop. For A, when we're ready to dunk her in the pool (probably this weekend!), we'll use the adorable iPlay swim diapers we got her for easter. They look like regular bathing suit bottoms and came as a set with a little long sleeve rash guard. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCIYLSG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The mess was so bad I couldn't get it out. I am reusing all the rest for the second baby.
