Back at work this morning. I spent the weekend learning that our dishwasher is 3 weeks back ordered so it looks like hand washing dishes until then. Hand washing sucks with 5 people. SO MANY DISHES!
Saturday we had a Nor'easter which brought some snow and rain. On Saturday morning I sent my H out to get his Christmas present which was a generator. We've never had one before but we have been losing our power more and more lately. Sunday we lost our power for 8 hours. The ironic thing was that we couldn't use our generator and it sat on our deck. Basically, my whole town was out and so we couldn't get into town to get gas or oil because everything was closed. I'm assuming that the power company was working on something for so many of us to be out. Plus the storm was over at that point and it wasn't even windy out. Luckily, we have a propane hot water heater and a gas stove. So cooking and water wasn't a problem. The bad thing is our heat blower is electric, which is one of the reasons for the generator, and so it got a tad cold in the house.

Power cuts sound like a nightmare sarahandben108, especially in winter! I'm at work after spending most of the week with BabyWaffles. Luckily it's a 3 day week so I'll be easing into it. The terrible bad news of the week is that Dh has finally caught our germs so of course he is dragging his self around the house looking miserable. I've been sick for almost two weeks and still got loads of stuff sorted out in the house when off work, including groceries, laundry, etc so I'm hoping he won't be completely useless... The good news is that BabyWaffles still needs aerosol treatment for a couple of days but hardly coughs anymore. So I am crossing everything she doesn't bring any new germs back from crĂšche!

sarahandben108 - I know it's not the most environmentally sound thing to say, but - paper plates and disposable cutlery would be my go-to until it gets here. 3 weeks is a lot, especially with LOs. Hopefully they will get it in stock sooner than that!!! Sox won the World Series! And of course N coughed himself awake at the bottom of the ninth... luckily H kept him occupied until the final out. It started making up for giving me major attitude yesterday. I was so done with it. I get it, he's sick, but I asked if it would be OK for me to go out and he said yes. Don't get snippy with me because I asked you to parent our child for 4 hours, when I've had him basically nonstop since Friday bedtime. #mancold

Woohoo Red Sox! I took a nap during the early innings and was up for the end. Iâm so glad they won last night so I didnât have to try to stay up for the end of more than one game, lol.
I have a cold and am WFH today. Hoping I can contain my germs and not get the kids sick. Iâm pretty miserable and donât want them to have to deal with this.

In the summer we spend time at my in-laws summer house and they don't have a dishwasher so we always use paper plates. I told my H that everyone needs to pay attention to their dishes for the next few weeks. No more using different glasses or mugs. I said you keep the same glass all day.

sarahandben108 I would 100% use paper plates most of the time. Our cabin up north doesnât have a dishwasher and Iâm always reminded of my love for my dishwasher when we spend time up there!

Iâm here! My alarm didnât go off so I barely managed to get DS on the bus on time. DD2âs morning nap was a grand total of 35 minutes so sheâs in a great mood . Iâm trying to organize my life before I go back to work in 3.5 weeks.

Hi, friends. I'm taking a half day from work today, so I am only here till 10:30, which is nice. Then I'm meeting my mom and the kids at DD's school for drop off (her class is 11-2) so that the teachers can meet her, since she will do drop off the rest of the week. So it will be nice to hang out with my mom for the rest of the day. I will escape for a workout this afternoon.
I hope everyone is having a good day so far.

UO? I love eating out with my kids. But, both girls have been pretty easy in restaurants, as long as we keep giving them food to shovel in. We all just love food.
I am shocked at the amount of food babies can put away.

Hello! C sttn and I did too! So I got up at 4:45 and went to the gym before work. Feeling great but Iâm starving lol.
Going out to eat with the boys makes me nervous. Theyâre usually pretty good, but ds1 is a wild card.

My only âfear/worryâ about taking the boys to restaurants is ds2 getting into dairy so we havenât taken them out recently and weâve never gotten him food at one. Tonight will be no different, Iâll pack his own stuff but I have a feeling as he gets bigger he wonât be satisfied with puffs/purĂ©es that we wonât be going out to restaurants for a while. I just donât trust restaurants to be super allergy aware/diligent. Fx he out grows it!!

Theyâre usually pretty good, but ds1 is a wild card. Ds1 has a 45 minute window. Like from the time we sit until we leave. It starts getting hairy around 35 minutes but we can stretch him to 45 with distractions, a trip to the bathroom, and bribery. jules1614 I will be bringing food for ds2 for the foreseeable future. Dnw to use my epi pen.

We go to restaurants. Lots of colouring books and stickers keep the big two happy. As many snacks as possible keep N entertained. But heâs usually done around the 45-50 minute mark.

We had a pretty good weekend. Soccer game for DS1 Sat, then we walked around a nature park where it seemed every other person there was taking family/engagement/baby pictures. It was crazy. Then on Sunday H went out of town for his golf tournament and I took the boys to Haunt The Zoo which was fun. Crowded but fun. We've got another soccer game tonight too. The weather has been lovely lately, but it is supposed to be colder and rainy on Halloween because of course.

Hi Ladies!
Nothing too exciting going on today. Finally going to carve pumpkins to sit the babies in for pictures when I get home from work LOL.
Tomorrow I'm volunteering for DD1's preschool Halloween party. My mom signed me up to bring in bell peppers. I'm not sure what they're using them for but I bought them yesterday. I got home and my mom tells me they were supposed to be yellow bell peppers. I bought orange. They didn't even have yellow bell peppers at that store, so I told her oh well they're getting orange. But she's insisting we need yellow and is going to the store to get them herself. The only thing I can thing of that they'd be using them for is cutting them in half and painting with them like stamps. Surely we aren't feeding them to a class of 3yos.
Anyways, I've been having fun with all of the Halloween festivities and am looking forward to more. I overdid it a little with multiple costumes, but they've all turned out cute!

I picked up ds1 from school today. He was in time out when I got there. His teachers never acknowledged me or addressed me. Another parent walked in behind me and the main teacher went over and had a full conversation with the parent. While I was there talking to ds1 about why he was in time out and what happened, a group of two other kids came over and starting tickling him (including the one who calls him stupid). He was giggling but saying no. I told his teachers to have a good evening again with essentially no response. No one came over to me at any point. When we got to the car, I talked to ds1 about the tickling and he said that he was in time out for tickling another child. The child who was tickling HIM as I picked him up. Like, what? I asked him if the other child went to time out too and he said no, because s/he used his/her words "please stop tickling me." Obviously 3 year olds aren't always reliable but I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome picking him up.
I'm 99% sure the teachers just don't like him. He told me that the only day he likes going to school is Friday because the main teacher isn't there. This kid used to love school. He is smart but challenging. Dh is talking to the assistant director to see if he can be moved to another class. Otherwise, I'm finding him something new.
Eta I realize I sound paranoid so I should add that my mom had the same experience last week when she picked up ds1 and dh has the same experience most days of the week. It's not a new thing, it's just the first time I experienced it.

grumpycat ugh poor little man! I don't think you sound paranoid at all, trust your mommy gut. I think finding him a new classroom or new school would be good for him. You don't want him to start disliking school because of a inconsiderate teacher or kids upsetting him. He's a smart, sweet kid and deserves better than that

grumpycat that doesnât sound good. IF your ds is having behavioral problems then the teacher should be communicating with you more than the others, not less. I think itâs a good first step to try to get him into a different class. It breaks my heart that he doesnât want to go to school because of the main teacher, it shouldnât be that way at all.

I just donât trust restaurants to be super allergy aware/diligent. Fx he out grows it!! We are probably too trusting but do eat out a lot. If you have them near you and want to venture out, we have had wonderful experiences at Five Guys, Chipotle, and Blaze Pizza. At Five Guys you can get the burger either lettuce wrapped or in a bowl. Theyâll ask if it is for an allergy and they are very careful. Also, the fries are safe and delicious. Chipotle only has dairy in their queso, sour cream, and the cheese, obviously. If you ask theyâll change gloves and get fresh salsa/guac/etc from back up containers. Blaze Pizza has vegan cheese and they have always been cautious and change gloves, etc. Blaze has the worst cross contamination of the three though. N is ok with a little CC so we havenât worried about it. I also have had great experiences at a local mexican restaurant. N and I share fajitas with no cheese or sour cream on the side. Refried beans and rice are usually safe.
