He has flown through the work I set for him this week. I thought I was giving him too much and we wouldn't be able to finish, and I was intending to use this week as a guide for the future to see how much he could actually handle. Well, joke's on me. If he keeps this pace, he will be through second grade curriculum and completely into third soon. It's a good problem to have, though!
He learned how to ride his bike this week!! He has been practicing in "secret" away from his friends with H, and last night when all the block kids were out playing in the alley, he casually grabbed his bike and took off with the other kids. Everyone made such a huge deal over it, and he was so proud of himself. Our friends here know we've had a bit of a rough transition this time, and I love how they've gone above and beyond to make them feel welcome and loved.
QOTW: Sometimes we have some sort of loose theme. Like last year, the boys were Buzz and Woody, and H dressed like an Army guy and I wore a Jessie-ish Western shirt. This year the boys are both super heroes, so I may find a Wonder Woman hoodie or something. H will be gone.

I've been MIA. I blame life. enchanted - Have fun with room mom this week! hawkward - Yay, DS1! That's awesome! I'm glad homeschooling is working out. She's doing well this week. No major things to report. LOTS of Halloween events, which she's excited about. We're dealing with some school issues. Apparently, she's bored and leaves the room a lot to go to the bathroom. I've asked the teacher to keep an eye on J and give her more work if necessary. We'll see. I'm okay. QOTW: We don't do family costumes. She dressed as a Shop.kins last year. I don't know how to make that a family costume. Fruit bowl maybe?

enchanted, I love that you get to do the room mom stuff!! hawkward, wow you have a superstar on your hands!! oldbaylover1024, I can totally relate. I blame life too! DD likes Shopkins too. Am I the only one who thinks they're weird? lol We are having a better time with kinder now. She's still tired, especially on the days I take her to school because she gets up earlier. But she's reading books now and when we are out driving she's reading signs and getting lots of praise from me. I'm doing alright. The second half of fall semester is full of holidays. Hooray! Still working during the day and running my business at night, waiting for husband to finish his degree. So not much has changed here. No family costumes. DH is completely against Halloween so it's just DD and I. She's excited though and is doing Wonder Woman this year.
