No worries, enchanted . I figured we could all use a week off- October is a weird month. My kids acted like the flu shot killed them too. There was an older couple in line behind us, and they had the woman in tears for "those poor babies." It was ridiculous!
Well. We've had a major shake-up since the last check-in! Things with DS1 were getting worse and worse, and after meeting with his teacher and guidance counselor, I felt like they probably weren't going to improve (really at no major fault of the teacher/school). So now we homeschool, and the difference in him is night and day. His stutter is fading, he is curious about everything again, and he is downright pleasant to be around. After being told he was so far behind, I'm also surprised at the level he's working at- he's complaining the second grade material is too easy and wants to start on the third grade stuff. I'm still making him go through it because I want to make sure there are no holes in what he knows so far, but it means we're easily getting through my goals for the day in two hours or less. I was shocked at how supportive his former teacher was- she said she'll continue emailing me her normal weekly agenda newsletter so I can know where his classmates are at, and she gave us both big hugs when we went to pick up his stuff.
I'm tired but happy. We're still finding our groove, so I think things will get a little smoother soon. And we can sleep in now when we're too tired anyway!
QOTW: Those weird fruit flavored tootsie roll things. Yuck.
