Morning! I'm way behind, but have a few spare minutes while waiting for Theo in the pick-up line. I picked up a pair of Halloween leggings at the store today, so I'm officially one if those moms. Also, pulled a chair down off a shelf to nurse Bea in the middle of an aisle, so I am also one of those moms.
Off to catch up!

Where can I get an invitation I ordered on Etsy printed? I only need like 10 of them. It's like $20 to print them at staples which seems high? Or no? Staples was going to be my suggestion. Do you have a good printer? or at work? Maybe buy some good paper and run it through a regular printer Yep, I usually just buy some cardstock at the store and run it through my printer at home.

Nightmare housing saga liveblog:
Surprise, "no one was available" when DH got there. He told the receptionist he would wait, and she was like, "Well you can't do that". "Oh really? What's stopping me?"
We figured that would be the case, but at least now we can say we have exhausted every outlet available to us. DH is calling the owner back and going to JAG if we don't get a resolution by the end of the day. I'm over it and if this is the way we're going to have to live for the next 18 months, then I'm inclined to say "to hell with it" and we will look for another rental.

I can't believe this company. Is YH doing a sit in? Lol. What's the issue with the house? I really hope the owner finds a different management company.

That is ridiculous, flamingo. I would expect that story if it were a private owner who happened to be a bad landlord, but a property management company had one job.

jewels Didn't you say you had an evaluation for B's speech or did I make that up? I had asked for a referral for an evaluation at his 18 month and again at his 24 month and my pediatrician wanted to wait and see. He is 2 years 2 months now and he has improved by leaps and bounds in the past 3-4 weeks. He is still behind his peers, but not nearly as much For reference, at 18 months he had 1 -2 words. By 2 he was just starting to put 2 words together, but still only had maybe 15-20 words. Now suddenly he's repeating everything and I've lost track of his words. He's still hard for anyone to understand, so if he doesn't improve over the next few months, I will ask for a referral again, and not leave without one.

H is no where close to putting 2 words together. I counted actual words and he only has 7. (other people would only understand 3 of those) If I include animal sounds he has 14. Anyway, ECI called me back today and they'll be doing an evaluation Nov 7. I thought it was free, but it's not. Depending on what they say, it may be cheaper for me to find my own SLP.

I'm here. My life is a whirlwind of crazy right now. Between the never ending to do list for work and the house and the boys party and the mental load of TTC- I'm not drowning yet but very close. I need to find just plain, long sleeved Jack-O-Lantern shirts. If anyone sees any, let me know.

Seriously I cannot stand contractors/builders whatever. The one that just did our kitchen and attic made us a quote with in it the maximum amount of work hours/supplies. We accepted this quote. He did the the work, left yesterday. We received the invoice today, according to him he almost doubled his hours (46 in stead of 26). Wtaf.
End rant.

I can't believe this company. Is YH doing a sit in? Lol. What's the issue with the house? I really hope the owner finds a different management company. The blankety-blanking microwave...still. It's been two weeks; a repairman was out last week and said it needed to be replaced. It cannot be fixed. We spoke with him and he sent the report/recommendation over the same day he was here. They have not responded to him, nor informed the owner that he's going to be buying a new built-in microwave and oven. guster I have no idea how they are still in business, although I have a sneaking suspicion it's because the majority of their happy customers are homeowners who have no idea how their property is being managed (or rather, how it's not being managed). I mean, if you got your money every month and never had to pay to have stuff fixed, you'd think they were great, too! Meanwhile, i have talked to other tenants of theirs who have experienced similar issues to ours. The owners have a clause in their contract with the mgt co. that they are not allowed to have contact with the tenant, so I think that puts the kibosh on a a lot of information-sharing. So DH emailed the owner and basically laid everything out, and hopefully he will pick up the ball on his end and start running. He was great about the pool when it became evident that the PM was sucking at life, so I'm hoping he will do the same here and also either cut ties with them or tell them to shape up. They are just awful. I cannot wait to get out of this house. eta: I'm sorry to keep ranting about this. I guess it is so frustrating to me b/c I know how much time and money we have put into this house, and all our rentals. We have always had fantastic relationships with our landlords, be it an owner or a management company. Naively, I guess I never expected anything different b/c we follow the rules, pay on time...I mean, we are NOT problem tenants. So why we are being treated so shabbily, IDK, and it bothers me a lot.

So the one bad thing about my new car is a lot of the police forces around us use white explorers. So everyone slows to a halt when they see me coming or I come up behind them.. well this morning a officer saw me coming and apparently mistook me for one of his own because he jokingly swerved infront of me... scared the crap out of me.

He got them at 20 months, and then it took about 4 months for him to really understand and start talking, I think

Your ETA is exactly how I would be feeling, flamingo. Maybe they have trouble with other tenants, but because I uphold my end of the bargain, I expect the same back. How much information do you think the owner has on this current situation?

flamingo I so get how you’re feeling. We felt the same with the Airbnb hassle. I just wanted to scream ‘we’re good decent people, why are you doing this?!’. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with all this.

My cousin is a high school senior, and sent me his college essay to look over. He already sent it out, so any advice I could’ve given him doesn’t matter now. Unfortunately, he could’ve used it. I know that an essay isn’t the end all be all, but writing is such an important element that I wish I could have helped him with the process instead of the product.

flamingo You all are handling this better than I would be. I hope you get it resolved with the landlord soon. nam2013 did he explain the difference in the cost? Does he have proof that he was physically there during the house claimed? I'd want some kind of backup/proof before I paid that bill. Then let him know that I would be leaving reviews and letting friends/family know about the discrepancy in his quoting.

Hi hi - I'm trying to relax and work from home but hard to not look at screens when you work on a computer. At least I'm fully reclined on the couch. My dad, agent, and a contractor are at the house now pricing our a million updates, so this will be interesting. We canceled the move next week and will reschedule for sometime next month after any work we go ahead with is done. I'm also dropping my class that starts next week, too much going on with the move, birthdays, and holidays.
Oh and it's picture day and I found a dress I bought for my neice years ago for N to wear. She insisted on some ridiculous hot pink polka dot Mary Jane's though, but I was able to switch her into some cute ones when we got to school.

He’s my aunt’s BIL, and he’s done stuff for us before, so I when we set a maximum price I trusted him. But we are going to e-mail him to get an explanation.

How much information do you think the owner has on this current situation? Thanks. It's just insane. Never did I dream I could be in a situation like this. My H emailed him an "Fyi" as a courtesy when the microwave initially conked out 2 weeks ago, then emailed him again yesterday and asked if he had heard anything from the PM--owner said no but that if the microwave is broken it should be replaced. So they have kept him in the dark, too. DH emailed him today a summary of what's been going on, and how frustrated we are, so he is now fully up-to-speed, and he knows about previous issues. Apparently our threat about calling JAG worked, b/c the PM FINALLY posted in the portal around 2. Essentially they said that they don't have to replace the built-in microwave (which is completely false per the lease) and that the appliance repairman recommended we get a countertop microwave--which is also false, we talked to him. Why would you get a countertop 'wave when you have a giant microwave-shaped hole in the cabinetry? No. I believe that the owner will want to do the right thing regardless and put in the correct appliance; so we replied that we have reached out to the owner to address our concerns, he is now aware of everything, and we expect an update by COB Friday.

I’m invested now. Maybe I don’t understand what the job of the property management is, but aren’t they simply a go-between? Why would the PM care if the recommendation is for a mounted microwave or a countertop microwave, it’s not their money. Isn’t it just their responsibility to tell the owner that he needs to produce the money for the correct appliance/recommendation and then the PM follows through with the work order?
