So it's finally starting to cool down here, and I realized I have nothing to wear. Part of it is I haven't lost any weight, so what I do have doesn't fit, but much of it is I haven't really been fall/winter shopping in years. What styles are you guys liking these days? Also, I LIVE in flip flops from April - October. I'm having trouble with footwear for the fall. My feet went up a bit with B and never went down, so I've been slowly buying all new shoes I see booties everywhere, but I'm not sure how to wear them? I need help, guys. FTR, my work is SUPER casual and most days I wear leggings or skinny jeans. So my wardrobe is pretty much the same 7 days a week. DRESS ME!!!!!

Or there are some nice flannels at Old Navy right now, to dress down a little with booties and leggings and/or skinny jeans

I know you’re short like me and I was scared of booties for a long time because I thought they’d make me look stumpy. One thing I’ve learned is that one’s that are lower cut in the front, or even with a v-shaped cut out elongate your leg. You’ll want to cuff your skinny jeans or wear ones that are short enough for a little ankle to show. Olive colored jeans are my new favorite thing, a lot of bloggers I follow on IG wear them (black too). I also follow PMT like slenle and like her style. I pretty much live in skinny jeans and flannels in the fall and have black toms that I wear 85% of the time.

Are you for mostly legging styles? It’s easy to look pulled together in leggings and dress up or down.
I wear them with tunic sweaters, button downs, a tank and cardigan, more athleisure look with a jacket or sweatshirt/hoody.
You can do any boots/booties, tennis shoes, slip on shoes, ballet flats. I’ll try to find pics to give you an idea.

My number 1 go to to feel comfy, but dressed is a wrap/tricot dress. When I’m with the kids I’ll wear these with 40-80den tights/leggings and boots/toms. When going to work I’ll put in some heels/nicer boots . I’m eying a flannel dress at gap at the moment.

Oh jewels, I so feel you on this. I am the unhippest of unhip. I remember growing up, thinking my mom was the worst dresser. Now as a 41 year old mom, I get it. I find it hard to follow fashion trends, plus I'm overweight, PLUS I'm super cheap. I just wore a pair of booties with cuffed jeans for the first time yesterday. I felt silly, until 2 coworkers complimented me. So I'll definitely do it again. Target has cute booties, plus cartwheel takes 20% off. These are the one's I got. www.target.com/p/women-s-nora-v-cut-ankle-booties-universal-thread-153/-/A-53348869?preselect=53283634#lnk=sametabI wore a pair of skinny jeans, rolled them twice so there was maybe an inch of skin showing, and put them on. Cuffing my jeans just reminds me of the late 80s/early 90s when we all tight rolled our jeans. It's a trend I never thought would return... I'll be following along for more pointers as well.

Ha! I think I actually own that exact shirt. I felt the booties didn't look right with the skinny jeans. Maybe because I'm so short? Maybe I just need to try more till I get used to it?

I like that sweater... I do have 1 or 2 of the flannels from old navy from last winter, and I wear them, but I feel the cut makes me look big.

For flannel you could add a vest with a cardi or open with a shirt underneath

Thank you all. trtlcrzy, vino mwhip I don't know why I didn't think of rolling the jeans. trtlcrzy thanks for the instagram share, I will check that out. nam2013, I am just not really a dress person. Every year I buy a few casual dresses and they hang in my closet, never to be worn. I tend to think I look short and chunky in them, not to mention my kids like to undress me. You guys are the best.

jewels do you follow fashion bloggers on IG? That’s where I find most of my inspiration. Doing that has also made me realize that I need to up my accessorizing game. Most of the time I feel like my outfit is not finished, but it’s because I don’t accessorize. I always have earrings on but mostly small studs or hoops. I’m trying to learn how to add necklaces and bracelets. Also like guster said, styling tips like a tuck makes you feel a lot more pulled together.

I don't but trtlcrzy just sent me some links so I am going to check them out. I am terrible with accessorizing. I wear the same stud earrings 99% of the time. I wear virtually no other jewelry, and rarely think about a belt or scarf or the like. I need a stylist who just dresses me...

I’m also terribly at accessorizing. I used to wear earring all the time but now they bother my ears. I have a handful of long necklaces and that is all I really do
