Hermione is baaaaaaack!! Damn you can literally feel Sirius's angst. The sands running out was so dramatic, I loved it. Loved her writing the letters back and forth. Very creative way to get around the inactivity of those characters in the book. Also a big Tonks fan. I love Tonks so much! DoT is canon to me because I can't stand loosing her and Remus. And I think that Hermione growing to who she is in this fic isn't so unfathomable. I was Hermione growing up, an insufferable know it all set on never breaking the rules. I had he burden of helping raise my siblings but once I finally got away at college I let loose more: tattoos, boyfriends, drinking because as I got older I realized I didn't need to prove how smart or right I was. I see the change in character as her finally being able to let go of those things too and have fun. She survived a war and that puts a lot of things in perspective. She still has flaws: she is still jealous and sees herself as never wrong which can be dangerous without Remus and Harry to temper her. Side note: I also never realized the original books never gave Hermione's parents first names. I started a few different fics recently and they were Charlotte and Jonathan and another her mother was Emily and I was like why did they change Helen and Richard's names? You guys have good points re Hermione. Seeing her so steadfast in the books and then an interpretation where she literally lets loose is so jarring. I'll need to do some thinking! You're right, they only named her parents when she sent them to Australia! Obviously it's because we could find them and trace their records and then find out that the wizarding world is, in fact, real. Lol.

I finished this last night. (Like for real 😂)
I am just thoroughly impressed with the way she ties everything together. Draco's "redemption" was nice, I liked seeing a little bit of how he and Astoria got together.
I also thought the scene where Ron grows up are super important and I liked that she paid attention to how she inserted Sirius, and how it made it impossible for Ron to have his growth moment, so she wrote it in a different way.
And I did appreciate that Sirius wasn't jumping right into bed with Mia when she got back. Writing in all the conflicting thoughts he was having really was very realistic. Sex as a struggle that basically all couples have endured at some point in a relationship was also very realistic and relatable.
I still think Mia is a MS, but I can appreciate now the chance that Hermione got to relive her childhood "free" of rules and how that may have affected her thanks to you guys. I did really like how Harry struggled with her two identities and how drastically different she was as Mia and the relationship she had with Sirius, and not just "oh you're different now? Cool imma go bang Ginny now."
A+ for the happy ending for everyone! I fucking bawled at the Longbottom scene.

Ok I am bumping this to say Mia is growing on me and I like her a more this time around. I am really appreciating the relationship she had with James and Dorea and Charles, and how Dorea was the mom in the neighborhood that all the kids call "mom" because she loved them like her own. And seeing them all come together after she dies and remus's mom dies and Sirius loses his mother figure is just so heartbreaking.

I liked her better the second time around as well, but she still kind of annoys me in the last part when she comes back. I give her credit where its due she had plenty of time to prepare and do everything she accomplishes and its awesome. Mostly its the scene {Spoiler} at the restaurant when all the ladies are sitting together and Mia is like the head of the ladies. For some reason it just gets on my nerves.

That part is vaguely ringing a bell, but when she comes back I do remember finding her obnoxious with the people in her first timeline. I just got past the part where James and lily get together and I have to say, it's probably one of my very favorite scenes in all fics ever because, well, James and lily lol

I think the part where she was head of the ladies was odd too, but as the future Mrs. Black it makes sense socially, not because she’s now super popular but she is the female head of house. There was a fic I loved (A Marauders Plan) that went deep into the social aspects of each house that helped explain that more. The most ancient and noble House of Black is given the most respect in the pureblood communities.

I know what it was supposed to look like but it just grated on my nerves, I feel like thats when she became Mary Sueish even though I know why it happened. It doesnt make me love it any less just made me tilt my head.

I've just finished this fic. So many recommendations in so many threads on this board! I'll definitely have to reread, probably quite soon.
I shall now read this thread!
