Community hall is booked, Sportball coach has been booked, invites done and I'm currently working with B to get the number from 32 kids to 15. We are down to 19, and right now I'm wondering if I should just send them out and hope that 4 people say no. UGHHHHH so risky...I have no idea what to do, but they have got to be out tomorrow since the party is on the 10th.

I just went driving around town to see if I can scope out where the best trick-or-treating areas might be, and Charlie actually fell asleep in the car. He woke up when we got into the garage but let me put him back upstairs. This is why we don’t wake up at 440!

If there happened to be 16 or 17 yes's, would the place be able to accommodate that?

The place can hold many, and i have no problem feeding that many, but it's the sportball coach, max 15 kids per coach.

I asked M last night and she would like her party at the gymnastics place and the trampoline place. I think I'll drive by the gymnastics place this weekend so she can check it out.

Gah I haven't planned anything and really need to get on this.
I kind of want to do something small with a few friends but with parents coming I think it'd be as expensive as a bigger party.

Over here we celebrate with family at home (or at the park if the weather is nice) and from five on up they’ll have a small party for friends, those are usually drop off party’s with between 5-10 kids. Since the kids are turning 5 and these are the first parties most parents stick around for a little bit. Usually these are low budget, treasure hunts, going to the movies, playground, arts&crafts, camping etc. Budget around 50. These parties you’re all planning sound like they’ll cost all of you guys a small fortune! Ds would rvsp to all off them though, they all sound so fun!

With food and decorations and the admission to the pumpkin patch for everyone, I'll be at around 500. But doing one party versus 2 saves me that much. Matthew cant even name kids in his class yet so it's the same crowd since their first birthday for both of them.

I've saved my credit card points all year for his party and Christmas gifts. It's also the 1 time I feel comfortable hosting something at my house for some reason

If we could get by with less we would. We just invite family and friends, no classmates.

I think here some families do this and after 5 the whole class parties taper off and just invite close buddies. I'm looking forward to this stage..

I don't have a budget for ours, but it's pretty low key and at our house. Family and friends. Costs really are just food, drinks, party favors and some decor... so more than $50, but not like $500 or anything. Some parties do sound pretty pricey!!!

My family and close friends parties that I throw for the kids always cost me way more than expected. I over buy food, drinks, decorations. Im 80% decided against catering this year bc I’m not in close control of how much food will show up so I think I’m making brunch so I can make sure it’s more than enough!

Unless Josie and Charlie end up being super close friends with the whole class (unlikely) I am hoping to avoid those kinds of parties and do something fun with a small group!

I should clarify that the 50 was only for the kids party, we’re also celebrating with family, which will set me back around 100. I used to make a ton of food and always threw out most of it, so I’m just doing cake, cookies, chocolates, candy & popcorn.

This year, there are only 7 girls in Evelyn's class out if the total of 18. I am inviting those 6 over and maybe a few neighbors and hoping for the best. We will do the friend's party on Saturday and a family dinner on Sunday (which is her actual birthday). Not sure about theme yet. She asked for Pete the Cat/Frozen but I not sure how to put those two together.

Has anyone done or been to a party at build a bear? If I do something small it's cheaper than a gym place. Curious if they do cupcakes there or do we have to go somewhere else for the cake part. I'm thinking like 6 kids.

It was fun but there is a lot of waiting your turn.

Guess that's sweet of him..I think we may do pump it up.

So LO was just invited today for a party on Sunday. The invite is in Spanish which neither C or I speak very well. Also we had plans (not set in stone) already. There is no rsvp. LO has talked about this kid but he’s not one he talks about often. Would you go to be polite or just continue on with current plans?

Maybe leave a note in the kids cubby Monday saying sorry you couldn’t make it and leave a card with stickers or something.

It’s party day! C is unbelievably excited. I just got a last minute RSVP so we have 20 kids now and 5 that never responded. Hopefully they won’t show but I’m not sure. Either way I made 25 goodie bags and ordered extra pizza. It should be fun and I’m happy for the distraction. I think @peachesmama and nam2013’s parties are today too, right? If so have fun!

All T wanted was a Dave and Busters party like his older brother. I wasn’t sure what other parents would think and they were all booked but DH called and begged and they said if we keep it to a max of 10, he could have it. We are only having my sister’s kids and 2 of his school friends but he’s thrilled. It’s on Nov. 10.

I decided on having brunch— it gives me the excuse to make make Bloody Marys and mimosas, instead of just beer and wine. I’m going to make two startas, butternut squash soup, a fruit salad, poached salmon, a cheese board, and a spinach artichoke dip. I can’t get decent bagels around here, and it’s tacky of me to ask one of the guest (even though it is family) to pick them up for me back in New York, so I’m going to do a platter of croissants and crusty breads instead. I think the crusty bread will be nice with soup, anyway.
