Anyone else have a super accident prone toddler these days? Dd2 split her chin open last month and had to get it glued back together. Today she fell down the concrete steps in our backyard and bruised/scraped her whole face up. 😓 My j16er has smashed her face/head into our counter so many times recently. And the car door! She keeps trying to sneak under things she’s getting too tall for. Lots of bruises around here too

Ooh, yay! It’s my favorite day of the year! The one where my kids start waking up at ungodly early hours for the next... who knows how long.
And of course, even though I kept them up a half hour late last night, they were up extra early today.
Thanks for the 4:40 wake up call Dd2! 😭

Related to nellieoleson's struggles, I am really, really hoping the EU decides to do away with DST this spring. Supposedly they're moving toward it, the debate right now is whether to keep winter or summer time. All the scientists are saying winter time is better for our bodies, so here's to hoping they go with that. Plus I don't want to have to set the clocks forward again this spring

crimsonandclover I can only imagine the debates that is causing. I am currently convinced men simply do not have the stamina women do. Examples: the man cold, man flu, my dh after 3 hours at the children’s museum and his need for a nap rather than helping clean the house we’ve ignored all weekend.

This week has been full of sucky cancer news for people I know. - My former college roommate has been battling stage 4 breast cancer for 3.5 years and today was told there are no more treatment options and she has less than 6 months left. - A work colleague whose wife is 37 weeks pregnant just got a breast cancer diagnosis (no word yet on stage). They've decided to start chemo before delivering, which surprised me. - Another acquaintance whose husband has been dealing with cancer on and off for over 20 years was getting news on Thursday that she was expecting to be bad -it's looking like the end of treatment options for him, too. Hopefully they got good news (I haven't heard yet), but she was not thinking it was likely.
Cancer sucks. How about we reroute all political campaign funds to cancer research?

crimsonandclover - like was for the campaign funds idea Sorry you have been hit with so much bad cancer news. It’s so awful, random, and scary.

We have the kids at my mom’s house for the night and of course I woke up with a cold today. We just went out to a great lunch, which I was fortunately still able to taste, and we are spending the rest of the day on the couch even though it’s beautifully sunny and warm out today.
Both my girls have been sleeping horribly since the time change, so I’m really looking forward to nobody waking me up at 5 am tomorrow

crimsonandclover I am so sorry for all the crummy news. And I agree. Campaign funds could be used many ways that would be so much more powerful! I have a friend with stage IV and she’s always just one step behind the newest treatment and always so thankful when it’s available. nellieoleson I’m sorry for the cold. I am exhausted. I intended on going to bed early last night and ended up researching toys for Christmas. I can see future Christmases being very expensive...

Guys I am still struggling. Currently I have three kids teething. How is that even possible?? Everyone's mouth hurts. DS has an ear infection. He's a real treat. I am hoping the rx kicks in soon. Dh is traveling this week. His boss changed his position so this may be the end of lots of travel, but that presents a whole different problem of him living in the laundry room. I feel awful about that. He deserves to spend his days in a far more inviting space.
How do you move while living with children? Do I really need to just go get boxes and start packing? I feel so stupid. I've only moved once and we ended up renting the home we were leaving rather than selling so it was super flexible. I feel lost. Also, holiday drama. I hate the holiday drama. I swear one of these days I am going to travel for the holidays.
One more thing, could we do a baby update? Our BABIES are turning 3!!!! WHAT??!

dizzycooks, is your DH happy about traveling less? Why did I not remember you were moving? Will your new home have space for him to have an office? We moved with kids, but because work needed to be done on our future house before we moved in, we had 4 months of overlap and every time we went to the new house we would load up the car with boxes of stuff. So on the official "moving day" we basically only had to take our furniture over and then of course unpack the boxes. Baby update: DD3 moved from the daycare to the preschool group (again - not academic at all, just how I refer to their 3-6 age group). I cannot believe how much more coherently she is talking since she moved. She is enunciating much better than she was just 3-4 weeks ago. When DD3 turns 3, it will be the first time we've ever had a 3-year-old without also having a younger child in the house. And since we're done, that's it. We're moving out of this phase of life, which for the moment has me excited. The older DDs are so much easier in a lot of ways (and difficult in others...).

And my friend wrote that over the weekend she had lots of balance and vision problems, so she's moving to hospice right away and foregoing all other treatment options. She had planned to live with her parents for a bit first and then move to hospice when she felt ready. It made me cry.

dizzycooks we've moved with kid(s) a couple of times. Just get boxes and start packing. Enlist friends and family for help with kid wrangling and moving stuff, rent a uhaul (or hire movers) and just rip off the band aid. We usually do the moving day over a weekend and pack for a week or so before hand. Unpacking we just do as needed. Once tbe big stuff is set up we just leave the little stuff packed until we need it lol. There's still stuff in boxes from our last move. 2 and a half years ago 😂. Baby update: M is HUGE, but all torso. She talks almost as much as her big brother and most people can understand her fairly well, her speech has improved a TON since she had her lip tie cut last month. We're working on potty training and it's slow going. At the moment I'm trying to decide if she's going to one or two years of preschool. If she's doing 2 we'll be registering her in January. I'm leaning towards 2 just to get her some friends her own age, since currently she mostly hangs out with S and his friend from school lol

crimsonandclover I’m sorry for the diagnoses. Cancer is terrifying and that would be awesome to us campaign funds for research. It’s kind of sickening to think of how much money is spent that could be used elsewhere. dizzycooks sorry for the teeehing! We are good here! Dd is changing and growing so much! She seems like such a big girl now. Currently I spend a lot of time trying to keep her from harassing the baby. It’s all positive attn from her angle but she’s just all over him all the time. Any advice? Also having mom guilt because I still s nd her to school three days a week while I’m home on maternity leave and she doesn’t like it. Makes me sad but I also want that alone time with baby. Momming is hard.

I'm failing at this school thing this week. S had a Drs appt yesterday, but I thought it was Wednesday, so he missed a chunk of Wed, all of yesterday, and then this morning he says he's going to throw up, so he's not going today either.

I hope Js doing better! It happens. I feel like it’s all or nothing sometimes. Dd1 missed all of last week (3days) then 2 days due to the holiday. Today her teacher was out and Friday is staff development so no school. She will have been in school, with her teacher 13 days this month. I know part of it’s my fault, but I’m struggling with the 4 staff development days in there too. In other news! I sold a house! And I have another client! So exciting I need to keep this pipeline moving along a bit....

My dd3 is sleeping over at grandpas tonight with dd2. T She’s slept at grandmas, but this is a first. She’s excited dd1 was excited to have the bedroom to herself, until bedtime. Then she was missing her sisters. Idk that she’s ever stayed there by herself before. It’s kinda cute how sad she was, I guess it’s not time for private bedrooms yet.

"baby" update: DS1 turns 3 on the 22nd, I'm not ready. He's 42 in and 41lbs. He likes trains, fishies, and terrorizing his baby brother. And he's super duper clumsy. Since May he has busted his chin open, which was glued twice before it was stitched, all in a 24 hour span. Then he dropped a can on his toe and just lost his toenail which was a nasty sight. He is a daredevil and likes jumping off things, especially the couch. We're working at potty training but letting him go at his own pace, so we go forwards and backwards.
For his birthday he's getting a Thomas the train ride on toy, and some play food, and a car thingy he picked out at Walmart.
