DD3 will be moving from the daycare to the preschool group in a few weeks! Here they switch around their 3rd birthday. I can't believe she's that old already!! Also, DD1 started 1st grade and it's going pretty well so far. We're only 2 weeks in right now, but I'm so relieved that things got off to a good start. And this morning she walked to school without me for the first time (with a couple of 3rd graders she has known for years). I am SO glad we waited a year with her, though. She would not have been ready at all last year.
My kids are getting so big!!

dizzycooks, how is your DD3 doing on her meds? And how are you doing with your DH's new job?

Hey all...overwhelmed is my way of life as I said on fb. Dh asked me last night if i ever feel like life is kicking my ass. I laughed. All.the.time. Apparently this is a new feeling for him. I had to refill dd3s rx yesterday and found out I can’t do that in store anymore with our new insurance. Cue, me standing there unable to get my child medication she needs. I was stunned. I went back today and offered to pay cash w/o insurance and it worked. Thank God it was affordable! I can’t imagine if it weren’t. The guilt I felt looking at her Sunday morning and telling her mommy doesn’t have the meds she needs was horrible.
Dh is working from home and traveling now. It’s working better than expected. He’s gone all week this week and of course I have two sick kids and a teething baby. Plus the regularly scheduled doctor appts. He seems to like the job. Is it bad that I’m waiting to see his bonus check to decide if this is worth it?? Not that he’d be around much more if he were working downtown so...whatever. At least he eats lunch with us.

Well dh is gone for five days and last night was when he decided to get emotional and talk about all he’s missing. I can’t win with him sometimes. Of course he tossed and turned and didn’t sleep. Ds didn’t sleep. I am exhausted. Thanks guys.

What do you do when your 7 year old suddenly starts lashing out and hitting and pushing kids at school over little things? Last night, after bedtime, S came down and told us he can't control his emotions. We were confused and asked him to explain. He said he punched his friend because the friend said it was cool that S had had to spend recess in the office. So We dealt with that and sent him to school today like normal. Fast forward to lunch hour today, I get a call from the school. He was pushing kids again today, and yesterday he hit more than just the one kid.
I have no idea where this is coming from. He knows better than to hit. I'm going to talk to him after school, but I'm just completely at a loss. I don't know what to do.

lollipop, first off I think it's great that he recognizes that he can't control his emotions. I think I would talk to the school and ask for a referral to a child psychologist. They will know how to teach him strategies to deal with his emotions, and since he already recognizes it as a problem, I would think he will be grateful for the help. I remember an acquaintance a few years back who was having difficulties with one of her boys said: "You know, there are so many books on what to do if your child is being bullied, but there are none with help if your child is the bully!" dizzycooks, so how are you supposed to get her medicine refilled with your new insurance? Online? I'm glad your DH's job seems to be going ok, but I think it's normal if you say you want to wait a while to decide whether it has been worth it. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now with everything that's going on, and DH's job is still a major stress factor.

lollipop that’s a really positive thing that he realizes it’s a problem, wants help, and felt comfortable talking to you about it. I second the above recommendations but wanted to mention that the school counselor may be an option. I think talking to the school is a good step. They see this behavior and will have advice/ recommendations.

dizzycooks and crimsonandclover sorry you are feeling overwhelmed. I have no advice except hoping you can get some me/relaxing time. Easier said than done. I’m on maternity leave with a snoozing baby on me. I love all the snuggles. I’m leaving soon to pick up dd from daycare. We still send her the regular three days a week to keep a routine, give her kiddo interaction etc and for me to have some one on one time with the baby. I’m feeling some super mom guilt about it though because she tells me she doesn’t like school and wants to stay home all the time. Her daycare posts pics of the kids sometimes doing activities and she looked sad. It sucked.

Maybe this is awful, but could you lie to her and say you’re going to work, but baby has to go too until he’s bigger? Or he has to go somewhere different? (Is that awful??) I have another sick kid here. Seems to be working its way down the line. I’m sure by the time dh gets home it’ll have gone through everyone and he’ll miss it. 😆

dizzycooks I don’t think she realizes I’m home with just baby all day and not working. Maybe I’m being naive but it seems to be more that she just wants to stay home and not go to school. She’s never mentioned baby getting to stay with me. She said this stuff before maternity leave, I just feel worse about it now I guess. I will say she was having fun and playing outside when I picked her up today so I felt better then in the car she loudly proclaimed that she did not like school days. Kids...

Hope the sickness passes quickly. I’m already cringing about winter illness time. I’ve heard the flu is already going around.

@kelltothekell if it helps any, dd3 buckled herself into the baby swing tonight, turned it on and started the music. She literally rocked herself to sleep. When I woke her up she was super cute and happy, but I felt bad, obviously she needed some love.

I’m making baked pork chops with stuffing, roasted squash and collard greens for dinner tonight. Of course, first, I’m making apple pie what are you making for fall?

Does everyone have Halloween costumes picked out?
Dd2 is going to be Rapunzel. She looks amazing (hilarious) in a long, blonde wig.
Dd1 is going to be a “dragon.” I use the term dragon loosely because it’s more like a dragon witch fairy looking thing.

Dd was all about being a horse but switched gears to Elsa. Makes me happy because we already have a costume that a friend gave her for dress-up for her bday. Somehow, we’ve made it every Halloween without buying something.

My dd3 wants to be a bunny, dd2 wants to be a “rainbow kitty unicorn horse” (I’ll get right in that...), dd1 hasn’t commented. Ds will be a honey pot for dhs Winnie the Pooh costume. I’m a bunny rabbit.

It’s raining and cold. They are talking about all slushie snow flakes tomorrow night. What?? Dh is headed out for a few more days so I’m baking a few things this afternoon and plan on NOT cooking until he gets back Friday. 2/4 kids are still sick.

Neither kid has commented on what they want to be for Halloween. At this point they're going as whatever I can find that will fit over their snowsuits 🙄

I just dug our 9 month clothes for my 16.11oz butterball and found three boxes of Halloween/fall decor. I’d love to get it put out and surprise the kids when they wake up or come home from school, but this rain and cold are killing me. NO motivation.

I thought this was going to be a relaxing week, then our tax consultant came with 13247593234 questions about 2017 and I'm really, really stressed trying to sort things out 1.5 years after the fact. (Here you have until the end of the next calendar year to submit your returns if you are working with a tax consultant) On the one hand, it's great that she's so fastidious, on the other hand I'm losing my mind over here trying to remember why I invoiced a customer a certain way in Feb 2017.

Also, DD3 officially switched today from daycare to preschool!! I can't believe I don't have a daycare kid anymore! And the whole first week I have to pick her up at 12 to give her time to adjust, so that is cutting down the time I have to sort everything out with the taxes, adding to the stress level.
