I would question if he’s the right pediatrician for you. If he didn’t think he needed the surgery but the ent said it was that bad then I would question the pedi. Just me tho. IDK. I wouldn't jump to, "he's a terrible pediatrician" for not recommending surgery. Pediatricians are the first line of defense but they are not specialists; if he referred her to an ENT, he did his job, even if his personal opinion was that it might not be necessary. Having just gone through this process, there is a lot of gray. B's tonsils are so large they literally overlap, and he has plenty of other stuff going on, but our ENT was still on the fence about doing surgery...hence, the sleep study. It's a lot to put a kid through if you only "think" it will help with their issues. I appreciate a more measured approach as opposed to, "Well let's rip these puppies out and see if things get better!" Also, sometimes kids' tonsils/adenoids essentially grow faster than the cavities surrounding them, so sometimes doctors will take a 'wait and see' approach until children are 5-6 to see if things improve. That may have been Snoop's pedi's perspective. I agree with not jumping to that conclusion but also they can just flat out be wrong. J was cleared by his pedi and he refused to give me an ENT referral. Thanks to my insurance company not needing a referral I went around him and lo and behold, I was right. He's ears were jammed with fluid and already starting to get re-infected, and that was only 5 days after the pedi said the infection was gone. He got surgery 3 weeks later and his ears were still full and infected after 2 more weeks of antibiotics. I think you need to trust your pedi but you also need to listen to your gut. And damn it I still want an apology and "you were right" from my pedi but that's just me being petty. |

Hi.
M2 didn’t sleep well and was u an hour earlier than normal. Grrr. We headed to to a few stores and grabbed lunch before his nap. I was hoping for some relaxing before letting them play outside later, but he just woke and has been whining while pointing to the door. Guess I’ll let him loose in the back yard and grab me a huge cup of ice water.

Had a pretty successful yard sale this morning except we didn't sell many toys which are usually quick sellers. It was nice and chilly weather.
Then we were at a birthday party. It was fine but then 1 mom lied to me about having a party for her kid and a few other moms mentioned being there. It was the white lie that is bothering me not the invite.
But E and a girl in his class are pretty cute together and they have a special silly way to say hello to each other. I was talking with her dad at the party and we are both wondering what the 2 will be like as they go through elementary school together.

We got quite a bit of painting done durning nap time but it will definitely need a second coat.
Then we biked to get froyo before they close tomorrow for the season. We stopped at the movie store on the way back and n picked out the little mermaid. I didn’t realize she has never seen it. So now we’re home with pizza and watching it. I don’t know the last time I’ve watched it either!

slenle Sounds like a fun day! There was a "video store" (as we called it) in the town where my parents have the vacation house; it finally closed this past year  It was the best. RIP, Harbor Audio Video. C picked out a Little Golden Book version of The Little Mermaid over the summer and she loves reading it, I need to track down the DVD for her birthday or Christmas.

Morning. My sister is here, so I don’t have much time to check in. We went to dinner with her and her boyfriend last night and had so much fun. My parents took ds to a sailing museum and dd is napping, so Dh and I are lounging on the couch. Also it’s my h and I 13 dating anniversary today. 13 years 😱! We usually buy each other something small, write a card or whatever, but we didn’t get around to it this time.

Good morning. O got up at 5:30 and we didn’t go back to sleep. Z woke up soon after. I was happy that O slept by himself until that time. I gave him Sudafed last night plus diffused some EO in his room. Plus Vick’s. Maybe all that helped him actually sleep and breathe through his nose.
Today we are having a play date at our house. Then a 5th bday party for a boy in O’s kindergarten class. Later we might go to the pool. They both will need to nap first though.

It’s so cold this morning. I’m burning a fall candle and will make a big pot of chili for dinner tonight.
We have lots of little house things to do so we should be grounded here most of the day.
