The kids were up early, but have been very sweet with each other, and all cuddly with me.
It came as a nice treat after I spilled a little less than 2 pounds of dried quinoa all over the floor this morning.

We didn't make it over to meet the neighbors, but their kid was at our house everyday. Fortunately, we were busy or getting ready to leave, so she didn't get to play, aka eat all our snacks.

I was late getting M to school. He was still snoring in the car so I know he is tired. He wasn’t in the best mood when we got to school. Sorry teacher!

I’m sitting in the parking lot at M2s school giving it a few minutes until I bring him in. I have an eye appointment after I drop him. I’m no longer in denial that I need contacts. Last year the doc told me my eyesight wasn’t that bad to need contacts. Well, he was wrong. Or maybe I’m just lazy and don’t want to have to whip out my glasses every time I’m at a football game or drive thru to read the menu. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Riding with mh is the worst. He drives slow, stays in the same lane the whole time, even if it isn't moving, and listens to horrible talk radio. I've never been so happy to get out of a car at work!
Hopefully, my car will be ready today.

Good morning. Yesterday was fun. DS had a hockey game at West Point which was cool. Then DH left for a work trip and I took the kids to a Chilli cook off my BIL was participating in. DH is having a blast on his trip because Jimmy Buffet showed up and performed. I was up early with C, got the big 3 off to school, got my BBM done, and now C has a sitter while I’m waiting for my kidney ultrasound (just a follow up to my stone surgery in the winter.) The girl watching C is my sister’s neighbor who is in college. She mentioned she has no class on Monday’s so if today goes ok, I plan to start working my way through my spa finder gift cards on Monday mornings.

I swept it all into a pile and then dust-busted it up. Also, it was black quinoa, so, super easy to see.

Good morning. Last night was not so fun. I had homework to do for lo’s class. Yes they gave me homework. It was so the 11th but gave it to me on the 13th. My printer didn’t want to print so I had to wait for C to fix it.

LO was evil to me last night as well.

Also E slept more then normal, so either she’s getting sick, about to have a growth spurt or I’m in for a lack of sleep week soon. I’m hoping for a growth spurt.

YH and me would get along beautifully in the car. I want a podcast and either just at the speed limit or a bit below.

Morning! Getting the boys out of bed was like pulling teeth. Colin was fully dressed but climbed into bed to cuddle with Chase, which was adorable but didn't help get Chase up and at 'em. Both of them have been sleeping better at night lately but I think we need to get them down a bit earlier because they seem exhausted all the damn time. Colin has been so quick to yell or cry, though he at least straightens out quickly when you speak to him in a sharp tone. Chase... He's just a wreck and can't seem to turn it off. So yeah, that's been fun.

I think this is my first week in ages without anything too interesting going on. I should be finding out this week when I go back to Calgary, hopefully for the last time until the spring. I hate traveling during the winter, let alone to an even colder and snowier place.

I’m feeling under the weather today but at work anyway because of a deadline. We go to Fiji in a little over 3 weeks and I’m trying to start gathering some of the stuff I’m taking. We will be spending 1 day in the village at the school with the kids. It’s customary to take something for them. But we are limited on space in our luggage. I’m thinking of stickers and balloons as well as some books. I’m getting super excited!

Morning. Dh left yesterday afternoon. Our electrician came over to answer a few questions and kindly pointed it we need to paint the walls next, which I stupidly didn’t think about. So now I’m stressing over when we’re going to paint!

N ended up in my room at midnight but at least stayed on her half of the bed. Then I woke up at 7 to H in bed between us! He’s really mastered the crib escape. I bought the toddler rail this weekend and he told me he doesn’t want a big bed. I was hoping to wait until the weekend to try it out but I probably should do it before he hurts himself.

And I woke up with a killer headache and dh took all the ibuprofen with him (which I’ve told him not to do!) so I had to wait till I get to work to take anything. So I’m tired, crabby and expecting af. Happy Monday?

I had to make a collage of photos of LO with family and friends and things he loves todo. It felt like an advertisement because it kept recommending Walgreens. However I made it at home. It would have been simple if the printer wouldn’t have been stupid.

Colin's first homework assignment was to fill a picture of a heart with things he loves, to use throughout the year for writing inspiration. We put a few family pictures, lots of stickers representing his favorite sports, a couple of his favorite foods, and a few of his favorite characters. We ran out of space before he ran out of ideas.

He had more homework in pre-K so far than in kindergarten, and I got the impression from his teacher that it's her intention to keep it light since they spend so much time in the classroom. It's only maybe their 3rd year of full-day kindergarten and the teachers seem very thoughtful about how taxing it can be on the kids.

So N started talking about shots this morning and how terrible they are. I tried talking to her about why we get them and that they only hurt for a minute and it’s better than being sick for days, etc etc. she went into full on meltdown/ anxiety attack about getting the flu shot (which we don’t even have scheduled yet)

Any advise on how to get her to accept this? Her vaccines appt last year was comparable to an exorcism and if rather not repeat that.

Funny though, S has never cared about shots before. But last night I was telling him that he had a dentist appt this week and he started tearing up asking if he was going to have to get shots. I told him no, and he calmed down. Must be something about the age.

slenle, does she have a doctor kit that includes a toy injector? Then she can give shots and receive them during imaginative play and you can reintroduce the topic of how they don't hurt for long and they are important.
You might even look for storybooks on going to the doctor that include getting shots.

cheeksmum how are you feeling today?

RE homework: we have 2 letters each week that we have to do picture collages for them. MH has actually been really good about helping with them but we have very few magazines at home. Last week we were limited to some turkey hunting magazine he brought home from work. But it isn't that bad.
