Hmm I have an L shaped couch and a rug about that size. I have it pulled out so that it’s only barely under the front 2 feet on the chaise. It creates an equal area of laminate showing between the rug and my couch (the regular part of it, minus the chaise) and the rug and the entertainment center on the other side of it. I think it looks good that way and I think it would look good in your room too but now I’m reading this thread and thinking I’m wrong? Eta: I looked at your pictures again and there’s not much flooring showing between your rug and TV stand so idk if it would work the same for you. If it were me, I would still try it to see how it looks because I like I really balanced look. Interesting. I definitely don’t have enough room to arrange it that way, but I’m intrigued.

Ok. New question. I need a rug. I’d like something soft to offset the MCM feel of the room, I’m not afraid of color, 8x11, and I don’t want to spend more than $500.
Should I make a new thread?

Should I make a new thread? www.rugsusa.com/ will be your best friend if it isn't already. They're always having huge sales and if you sign up for emails I think they'll give you a discount code. You can search by size, color, style, price, etc. I buy all my rugs there.

Personally I’d get that same rug in the right size for the room. I actually really like the look and pattern and agree with PP that the faded look makes it ok (soft compared to the harsher MCM). Like, brux I am also looking through biased eyes because I’m pretty sure I have that same rug in a different color.

I can’t find it in an 8x11. I wish I could because I really do love it.

Check out the NuLoom rugs on Amazon. They are good quality and not expensive. I love ours.

It feels too small to me. Get some flor tiles so you can make it any shape. You need more of a rectangle/long rug. And flor tiles are great for customizing and cleaning.

love this. And I second Sundae’s rec of flor tiles. I went into one of their show rooms to see everything and get some sample pieces. H ended up wanting a more plush-feeling rug, but if it had been all up to me, Flor all the way. They have great colors and patterns.

We had Flor tiles in our last house. We needed a huuuuuge rug and were on a strict budget. They were great. I want something plusher for this room, but I’m a big fan of Flor.

RedLine, thank you! I spiraled on the website yesterday. I love that view in your room feature. I haven’t committed to anything yet, but I have a couple I like.

I’m late but I love your space rubysue. Also, I’m proud of myself because I felt like you needed something bigger and I see interior designer flamingo agrees with me. So I would like to dethrone ripper of her area rug expert title.
