Checking in on all MA posters, is anyone affected by these gas explosions and evacuations? Anyone need shelter? So scary!

I'm over an hour away from it. So far it seems all of my friends and family closer to the area are safe.

Everyone I know has checked in. MH called me that houses were exploding en mass. This is insane.

I have a cousin in Beverly and have no idea where that is in relation to all this. I hope everyone comes out unharmed. So terrifying.

Last I saw it was 70 explosions/fires. Insane. I'm pretty far away, so safe, but makes me wonder about our gas lines.

I’m worried that it could happen in other areas too. Hopefully I’m being irrational. They keep showing a house on fire in the news and there are new baby balloons outside

I’m about 45 minutes from there. It’s just so scary. Luckily everyone I know is hopefully ok.
I just can’t imagine what all of these families are going through.

I am far away from the area, but what a terrifying thing to have happening. I feel so bad for everyone affected, just so scary.

It's like a nightmare. My friend was evacuated from her office and said it was like a war zone and complete chaos trying to get out of town. Traffic was crazy. Hopefully the worst is over.

I’m in Canada but my DH’s aunt and uncle live in Andover, MA. We just called them to check in, they are very close to the area but their house and neighborhood are unaffected, thankfully. So scary!

About 20/25 min away. It’s crazy but everyone I know in that area is ok. 2/3 if the cities/towns are affluent and the other city is either the poorest or like 2nd poorest in MA so I’m worried about that populations ability to evacuate and recover as compared to the other two cities/towns. Thinking of everyone and thankful no fatalities (that I’ve heard of).

Thinking of everyone and thankful no fatalities (that I’ve heard of). My mother and I were discussing that. There is atleast one hotel that has offered to put people up for free so there’s that, it’s definitley concerning though. I am about an hour away, my family that lives there have evacuated and are safe. This whole thing almost seems like some movie plot for a disaster movie, not something that would really happen.

I have a friend who teaches in Lawrence. She said they were evacuated from the school as a precaution. She would find out more about her kids and their families today.

I'm 10 mins from one town and it's where I started teaching so I still know plenty of families there.
Of the 3, one is large city and considered our sister city. Many of friends from college grew up there and some still there. There is so much going on there already that this just adds to it.
My city had traffic back ups last night that stretched miles and lasted hours. This morning it took me 35 mins to get to the highway which is a 7 min ride.
I'm hoping everyone was able to evacuate safely. Please keep everyone in mind. They've confirmed 1 death and at least 25 hospitalizations.

I'm not anywhere near there, but it's absolutely terrifying. I have a (mostly irrational) fear of gas and don't like that we have it in our current house.
I'm glad you all are safe and that your loved ones are accounted for.

So horrible to see this. I’m an hour away but I just can’t stop imagining the fear and sadness of someone seeing their neighborhoods and homes on fire. There is one confirmed death. Thinking and praying for all those affected.

This sounds horrible, but I'm surprised there is only one death and 20ish injuries. A disaster if this scale you expect to see more. I'm so glad people listened and got out. I feel horrible for everyone involved.

We are an hour away I think. When I lived in north reading we had munincipal light not national grid but I thought for gas it was only national grid. I’m closer to Boston now. Have national grid gas and electric.
