I miss Juliagulia because her and I always peer pressured everyone into getting bangs.

@easilyunamused - I love it! I’m such a fan of long hair with bangs. I also always tell myself I’m going to let my bangs grow out and then I find scissors. Whoops. Whenever I get back to my stylist she scolds me for trimming my own bangs. And for taking months to get back to her. lol I’m a terrible client. My cousin does this too. He’s like “just fucking come in to the salon you ho” and I’m like too far. But he also says bangs don’t need to look perfect. He doesn’t always do blunt cuts with me. Hell use razor shears and it looks softer if I want to.

snowyowl, you and I have pretty similarly colored hair and complexions. I'm never brave enough to dye my hair because it would be so obviously not my natural color.

For the blondes ( rubysue), do you do foils or balayage or some other method? I still get foils, but am wondering if I should try something else.

jubilantsquirrel that color is gorgeous. I wish I could pull something like that off. Thank you! It's been a month and I'm still getting used to it. It's faded a tad and has more orange now, but I still like it. Not what I had in mind, but still a very pretty color!

Whenever I get back to my stylist she scolds me for trimming my own bangs. And for taking months to get back to her. lol I’m a terrible client. This is why I’m growing my bangs out. If I go to the salon once every 6 months, I’m lucky, so I’ve been cutting them myself. Even though my stylist does free bang trims, it’s a hassle to get there.

I just made my hair appointment today for later this week. I have not been to the salon since February. 🤦🏼♀️ It’s so ridiculously long right now and I’m not sure what I’ll do. But I’m terrible at upkeep, so as much as I’d like to dye it, I’d never do it. I get my hair done once every 12-18 months and I dye it every time. Ask about balayage.

snip My hair cut and current color since they cut a lot of the highlights out We have matching hair! I will admit I miss the long highlighted hair but my grown out hair feels so amazing. I'm conflicted on whether to grow it back out and highlight or maintain it. I get a lot of compliments on this length, but I can't do buns or very good ponytails anymore.

My hair is currently between my chin and shoulders. I’m Olaplexing the shit out of it, trying to get it healthy again. I’d love to grow it out to collarbone length/maybe a little longer if I can manage. I tend to get it to my shoulders and chop it off again. I’m staying super blonde. I always, always regret going darker. Current inspiration: This is making me want to go back to v v v blonde!

I always want bangs, and then when I get them remember why they don’t work for me. My thick and wavy hair gets even wavier when short (and not weighed down) and bangs end up really unpredictable. Maybe I’ll ask the new hairdresser I’m seeing. After years of telling people “I don’t spend a lot of time on my hair” and them still giving me hair that required product + blow drying I finally have a truly wash and wear cut. And I love it. So maybe she will have some suggestions.

I've been wanting to grow my hair out. But this girl freaking FRIED my hair earlier this year. I've been trying to repair but it just kept breaking and looked awful. I actually went yesterday and cut about 4 inches off. The cut is actually very similar to the one rubysue posted. I love being blonde but I'm thinking about mixing in some lowlights and red highlights for the fall. I was v v blonde and it was okay until previously mentioned girl fried it lol. So I've been trying to cut back a little on the bleach

I would really like to try something shorter. I'm always at or below my shoulders. But I am always so nervous to take too much off and my hair is so thin that idk if I could pull a true bob off. Eta something like this but my hair is so straight and I am no good at styling

I do heavy foils with babylights around my face (I’m not exactly sure what these are, but she’s been doing them for like a year and my color looks great, so 🤷🏼♀️). I’ve done balayage before and I like it when I’m darker, but I can’t get the blonde I want with that method.

jubilantsquirrel , does the baylage grow out better when you go long between appointments or something? Yes! It's hand painted onto your hair, so it has more natural regrowth lines vs a traditional full dye job or highlights where it's very obvious when your hair starts growing out and your roots are showing. It's very low maintenance and you can go a long time between appointments.

I just got my hair colored 2 weeks ago. I always stick with blond but lately I haven’t been happy with how gold its been looking. I did full foils and it’s 3 different shades. I specifically asked her to add in some dark because of fall. I’ve been really happy with it!

It's trying to mimic the coloring you see in little kids' hair.

Im also having a lot of weird regrowth from the postpartum hair loss. It’s been difficult to put my hair up with all the fly aways. This is me. It has also broken off in weird areas too. It did it with my first as well. Sigh

I have also considered balayage. Right now I literally just do all over box dye to cover greys. It’s maybe 1 shade lighter than my natural color. But my greys come in wiry and make my dark hair look blah. So I feel like the benefits of balayage (being able to go a while between appointments) would be wasted on me.

pearbear I have done Great Lengths extensions a number of times, even postpartum with no breakage. Ok phew, glad to hear this. I’m lucky that even with heavy highlighting my hair is in pretty good shape. My girl is magic I think. She specializes in extensions too, so I’m fairly confident she won’t totally screw up my hair (hopefully).

Y'all might convince me to try bangs. If in doubt, side bangs are a nice inbetween, especially if you already do a side part.
