MH is fluent in Spanish, so I’m hoping DS will pick it up. His babysitter from birth-4 years spoke it to him at least 50% of the time and he has Spanish class twice per week.

I gave B the "Spanish is so important to learn" speech this morning. I was that dumbass who took French. In Texas. I took it in CA. Commiseration. TX I wish my parents would've beat some sense into me.

It kind of looks like Mr. Hankey in the middle...of that giant vulva.

I'm counting on FIL to work with B on his Spanish. It's his one job as a grandparent and he knows it.

I took 2 years of French and 3 of Spanish.
I can speak very broken Spanish and basically no French.

I’m glad that you guys see the importance of social development, I get so frustrated in parent conferences when the parents are like “academics are great so all good” and I’m like “well we need to work on some friendship skills” or “build some resilience” and they’re like “why?”. I wish we had a better pre k option here for this reason. We have head start and everything else costs $$$ so families start 5 year olds who are not ready but it is the only financial option.

I was taking selfies with my dog a few minutes ago and now my cat is standing where we were and she’s yelling at me.

I took 8 years of French and can only speak a basic amount. And forgot trying to understand a native French speaker going full speed. So that was a great use of my time

I took a few years of Indonesian and one of Japanese. I don’t think I could say more than hello in either.
Yeah. Not been useful.

FFTC: I chose Indonesian because the 9th grade camp was to Bali if you did that class.
We moved when I was in 8th and no chance my parents would have paid for the camp so not sure what I was thinking there.

My kid’s teacher sent an update on what they’re learning so far in K. I’m surprised my kid isn’t getting into trouble, he’s got to be bored out of his mind. Hopefully he can use this time to catch up emotionally and socially. I’ve been thinking the same about R. So far it seems Ike a lot of coloring and math class consists of picking out the object that doesn’t match. At home he’s working on adding and subtracting.

My kid is only 15 months but I am really struggling with the bilingual thing so far. I really really need to step up my game.

I took Latin. So.
There is an immersion program in the district we live in. The kids take half their classes in Spanish, including math. They just started it, so I’ll have a couple years to see if it develops well or goes down in flames before ds is in school. Currently they are seeing a large dip in math scores for standardized testing. As a public school teacher, I’m the first to say that standardized testing only tells you part of the story, but it’s concerning.

They’re only a couple years into it and really haven’t had the funding. The one here is 25 years deep and is awesome. Our Friday nanny and her brother (our good friend) are both graduates. Even being “native” speakers, with parents who have moved back to Mexico, they are the two out of six that actually speak fluently as adults. Their other siblings went to different schools and can communicate, but aren’t fluent. Not all programs are created equally. We’re lucky to have a program with such an awesome track record.

I had phone sex with H tonight. Being off the birth control is doing wonders for my sex drive. Downfall is we didn’t anticipate his trip out of town this week. 😂

There’s French or Mandarin immersion here but we have 0 chance of getting in so DS will just have to learn ineffectually like most people

So DH likes my hair long. I sometimes cut it short. I like his hair short, he sometimes grows it long. We acknowledge each other’s preferences and then do what we want. Then this conversation tonight...
Me: Fair warning, I’m getting my hair cut quite short next week. DH: Aw, ok, I get it. Me: The hair loss after DS2 has been bad, so I think- DH: No, no. I know. You can really see some bald spots in some lights, it makes sense. Me: *murder eyes* DH: I mean, your hair looks great as it is, but it will look cute short. Me: *murder eyes* DH: fuck.

Dogs in weddings is weird. Sorry not sorry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He wasn’t actually in the wedding. He wore his tux, took some pics at the house, and went off to puppy camp.
