Guys...best day ever!!! J is feeling better and slept through the night last night for like the 5th time ever. Then I get up at 5 because I slept a solid 7 hours, got an hour of work done before J woke up, and just got a call I have a 2 hour delay due to flooding. Starbucks opens at 730 so I get to go to Starbucks, hang out with j all morning, and have a half day of work. Best day!!!!

Wow how is it Monday already again? And what a day... D. has slept like shit the past couple of nights , waking up every hour.. I'm beat. I'm so happy we started bedsharing - we made an 8ft wide groundbed - this summer, I would have collapsed otherwise by now. She is either teething BADLY or got a bug or BOTH! This very early morning she projectile vomitted all over the bed, and we've had to change her into clean outfits like 4 times .. Teething daipers are NO JOKE!? She's got at least 2 but possibly 3 or 4 molars coming through at the moment, poor lil one. Bit warm as well and not happy at all.. so many tears today. MH has also been home with the (man?;-))flu (granted, he was full of snot and coughing badly) since before the weekend, and I've been solo-parenting 24/7 for too long ugh.

I feel so #new about the transition from BM to WCM. Im still pumping but dropped to 1 a day this week at work. I still have a freezer stash to use up so I have barely been giving WCM. She hasnt been impressed anyways. The pedi said like 18 oz of WCM but mostly for the vitamin D since she is getting calcium from other dairy. I dont know how to get that much fluid in her if she is still getting like 9 oz of BM and water throughout the day. I guess I should just KOKO the next few weeks for now.

She still has the rash, but seems fine otherwise - it’s mostly on her torso and back. I didn’t call anyone and I’m assuming it is from the vaccinations.

Hope it will clear soon! D. had a slight rash after one of her shots as well.. luckily that also didnt seen to bother her. She goes for her 12mo ones in 10 days.

I’ve been a bit MIA recently... we’ve been house hunting which is an interesting process with 2 kids in tow. But our offer on a house was accepted today so now we are on to inspections and getting ready to move. DS also started preschool today and my ILs are prepping to get hit with the worst of Hurricane Florence. Stressful and anxious days around here.

J did not sleep at all this weekend and I was dragging ass all day. Monday is my day to do the daycare drop and pick up covering which adds 40 mins to my car time. And I am trying to cut back on coffee since it seems to make the baby super hyper... ugh.

I think j would sleep.better if he did but he will only sleep with us now if we aren't at home.

I dont know what it is. He drinks it in the morning, after both naps, and at bedtime. Between 4 and 6 oz. Each time. I'm doing morning and bed in a bottle still then after naps in a cup. Can you give her some at meals or in the morning? Honestly if you are still giving BM she probably doesn't need it all that much.

Ugh. I am at a loss. He is waking up started at 12- on the dot. Won’t stay asleep in his crib. We’ve opened the futon and resorted to sleeping in there with him. He just screams like he’s in pain but he has no fever. We give Motrin before bed. He’ll take a little from the bottle but never more than 3oz.
Last night I agreed to let him cry if dh consoling him and getting him back to sleep didn’t work. Well as soon as he put him down in his crib he woke up and screamed. We said half an hour. I couldn’t last 30 stupid minutes. But thing is he doesn’t fall asleep right away with us either. He rolls around, he tosses and turns, he cries out in a fitful sleep until he finally passes out. It’s exhausting. And I think DH is mad at me bc I didnt stick to the cry it out agreement after he asked me like 50 times if I was going to stick to it.
Like we created this monster of co sleeping and idk how to fix it, esp since we can’t let it keep going when our nanny is back full time at 6am. She will murder us if we tell her we’ve been cosleeping!!
What do I do?? Did anyone here sleep train for motn wake ups? He goes to sleep easily on his own, it’s the motn wake ups and refusal to go back to sleep in his crib that is killing me now

He goes to sleep easily on his own, it’s the motn wake ups and refusal to go back to sleep in his crib that is killing me now Ugh sorry. We are having sleep issues too but not co-sleeping. She is still waking 1 or 2 times and nursing which is not ideal but thankfully going back down. Cosleeping is fine if it’s working for everyone but really really sucks when it isn’t which it sounds like it isn’t. The one thing with sleep training is consistency. You have to commit to it and not cave because then it’s ineffective for most babies. They learn to just cry longer because they know you will get them, especially now that they are older. I have been in your shoes and had a cosleeper till 14 months. I finally decided I couldn’t take it anymore and put her in her crib. She actually just did it on her own and outgrew it but that’s likely not your scenario right now. My advice is if you really want him back in his crib and not cosleeping, you are going to have to stick with whatever method and plan on at least a week of minimal sleep. If you truly think it’s teething, it’s probably not the best time to start. I’m sorry this shit is so hard sometimes 😞

addymac So sorry about the bad sleep. You would probably think of this, but could it possibly be his ears hurting when he lies down? Seems doubtful but just an idea. My ds1 had middle of night wake ups like that, refusing to go back down, and we ended up co-sleeping until he was three and then switched to a toddler and then twin bed in his room. I just couldn't stand the co-sleeping anymore bc he's a twitchy sleeper like N. We never did cry it out bc I didn't have the nerve and thought he would scream for hours. He turns 4 in November and still wakes up at least once a night, and he can't go to sleep initially unless I'm lying next to him (which can take up to 1.5 hours although we are slowly reducing it). It's awful!! I don't feel like I can cry it out with a four year old, either. In hindsight, I probably would have cried it out at 9 months to a year if I could go back. However, I still doubt that would have worked for him. He's just very, very strong willed. He questions everything and always has. My conclusion is that some kids just don't sleep as long/uninterrupted as others. It's not your fault. Hopefully, you can find something that works for you guys and lets you get better rest.

addymac I'm sorry. J still wakes up once at night to eat but will go back down right away most nights. Last night he didn't but just sat in my arms and stared at me quietly for 20 minutes so who knows. We did cry it out when he was 5 months old for motn wake ups and it worked in 3 or 4 days. The first night or two really sucked though. We had to do it again around 7 or 8 months because he started waking up a ton and while the initial crying was longer, it only took one or two nights to get back to our one wake up a night. We have had to do it with naps 2 or 3 times but generally that only takes 2 or 3 days and isn't as bad. All that to say, babies have sleep regressions and it sucks. Sometimes they work it out themselves sometimes they need help. Do what works for you.

Oh one other thing and this is totally random but we kind of had to sleep train for naps about a mo th ago because he would cry for over 30 minutes before going down. I realized if I picked him up, took him to our chair, and cuddled he would fall asleep on me then wail when I put him I his crib. If I picked him up, held him, sang, and rocked him while I stood. I could get him I n the crib drowsy and he would go down within 5 minutes. All that to say sometimes you have to figure out what works and what doesn't. Prior to this snuggled in the chair worked, now it doesn't so I stand and sing....madonna actually because it's what works. Lol

I don’t know about all these night wake ups. Sleep goes in cycles and kids need to learn to fall back asleep without getting full blown up. With R I just stopped the bottle around five months, because I don’t think she needed it and she wasn’t sleeping in any longer in the morning - she naturally woke up at 4am for awhile. I just let her figure it out and stopped letting her sleep on me. I can’t remember how long it took, but I don’t think it took longer than a week for her to stop crying. Then she’d sit up for awhile, but not cry. Then she just slept through the night.
When she’s having a rough time going down, I just go in after 10-15 minutes and I’ll give her a quick snuggle, then lay her back down. I’ll let her cry it out, but go in at increments or give Tylenol.
With T, I used to put a toy in her crib at about a year and a half. Then she loved books and she’d get books.
I’m really big on kids getting enough sleep and having healthy sleep habits. I can’t co-sleep and get good sleep myself. So, I do what I got to do.

I just need to stop being a baby about him crying and get over it. I will try again tonight. It’s jsut so frustrating bc he CAN STTN and he was doing it every other night for almost two weeks and then it all went to shit. JUST FIGURE IT OUT, DUDE!!

Yeah but I’m also going to add that some kids are just naturally better sleepers than others and it’s not all on the parents not doing what they should be. It can definitely be a developmental thing and some kids for whatever reason or another eat MOTN beyond the first 3 months 🤷🏻♀️ especially BF babies. I think it sounds judgy to say otherwise and I do think there are kids with stronger personalities like thinkchocolate05 said that just will not calm down with CIO

@jt2338 I don’t judge others for co-sleeping/night feedings and I agree that some kids are better at sleep than others.

king26 After your post, I just realized that's what I do with baby H. He still gets a night time bottle (I know, lol) and then I stand up and rock him and sing his special good night song, and then put him in the crib completely awake at the end. He shockingly snuggles down and goes to sleep. Maybe there is some magic to standing, swaying, and singing. But that would NEVER work with DS1. We tried sleepy but awake so many times with him that I swore it was a myth until baby H did it for the first time. We will get there eventually I guess.
