Today is going to be a long day. I'm at work, have a staff meeting when the kids leave after school, and have open house tonight. I left my house at 6:15 and won't be home until 8. E had a really really good night's sleep which meant I was able to get up at 4:30 to do the treadmill. I'm only doing 20 minutes on it because I run out of time but I figure 20 minutes is better than no minutes.
Today N was back to preschool. He's at the same place as last year but now he's doing 3 mornings a week instead of 2.

That is a long day 😴 I'm glad you had a good night's sleep at least! We did too, despite DD peeing through her diaper.

We just scheduled N's cyst removal for the 20th. I need to decide if I'm going to keep him home from daycare on Friday to give him more time to recover. Wonder if I should ask daycare what they want me to do. I just figure an extra few days before they need to worry about stitches would be better for everyone. Remember how H and I were talking about him looking for work in MA, and I was going to ask my job about letting me work remotely if that happened? Yeah, sounds like they won't let me, even though we have a very nice telework and remote work policy, because the policy requires supervisor permission and our department EVP believes people should be in the office. This doesn't kill moving, it makes it far, far more unlikely, and I'm having a lot of feelings about it. I was at a wedding on Saturday for some friends. H stayed home with N, and not one person commented that he was babysitting LOL. I missed having them there (kids were welcome), but it was an historic location AND outside, so it was definitely the right call to keep N at home. Especially when the massive thunderstorm hit during the reception and we had to move everything inside. The bride and groom were super chill about it, though. (And aside from the lightning, everything was beautiful )

Sorry cakewench, about the moving. Do you have possible job opportunities in your field in MA?

Hi, I’m here. DS2 was sleeping well for a few days but of course is now waking up again and refusing the pacifier if I am holding him, he just wants the boob. My H had to tap in at bedtime last night and he snuggled and took the pacifier just fine for him 😡
It’s hot, and humid and then it storms like crazy and goes back to being humid. I’m ready for nicer fall weather!

Good morning! Ds1 has had a rough start to pre-school. Yesterday he came home and seemed fine, but then spiked a low grade fever and laid on the couch all night. He had no other symptoms and was fine this morning so he went again. Came home, seemed fine, but then sat on my lap and just sobbed for 10 minutes. He was trying to tell me about how someone didn’t know his name on the bus and he thought that was weird, but he couldn’t really verbalize what happened and I couldn’t really understand him because of his speech delay. I just hate this part of parenting- sending them out into the world and not knowing exactly what’s happening and having them fend for themselves. I know that he’s probably fine and he’s more than well-taken care of and it’s part of growing up/learning but Blah.
Sorry for the word vomit.

Hi from my pumping chair! 👋🏻
Yesterday was DD’s first day of preschool and she’s done pretty well with the potty training/in underwear.
Yesterday I looked up flights for Xmas. 😭😭😭😭 it’s going to be so expensive to fly home this year. Like minimum $650 a ticket.
My mom bought her flight for the kids’ bday party though so I’m excited for that!! Probably should start planning!

Ds2 slept pretty well last night but I slept like crap because I kept waking up and my boobs were sore. This child needs to figure himself out lol. Going from 3 wake ups to one isn't cool. I mean ... It is, but my body needs to adjust and let's be honest, I have no expectations that he will stay at one wake up. We are traveling for a wedding this weekend so hopefully he will do ok in the hotel again.
Ds2 and one of my cats are like obsessed with one another. It's really cute. Ds1 doesn't pay much attention to the cats so it's a nice change of pace.

I’m home with DS1 who puked at school today. Poor guy is miserable. We watched cars 2 as a special treat and this movie is not good. Cars 1 and cars 3 were both really cute. Not sure who came up with this weird spy script but for a kid who loved the other two movies for the racing this one was disappointing. However, it did bore him enough that he fell asleep for a nap, so it was good for that, at least.

Sorry cakewench , about the moving. Do you have possible job opportunities in your field in MA? Yes, but we would prefer to avoid two job changes and a move all at once. It's also a little complicated because my degree is not in the field I wound up in (and I have no desire to use my degree anymore, which was in international affairs and politics). Everything I know I learned from being on the job for 13 years, and I'm just personally concerned that might play negatively in a search. I know listings always say "or commensurate experience" so technically that shouldn't immediately disqualify me, but I feel like it might anyway. Also maybe I should stop having such a low opinion of my employ-ability. Feelings, man. Is it happy hour yet?

Aww pootsen. It could be that your DS is just tired. School, especially the first week, makes my DD1 SO TIRED and SO EMOTIONAL because she is tired. And yes, communication at that age is so hard anyway. I hope he adjusts quickly and you all get into a groove. cakewench I'm sorry about the work news. I don't understand why more employers don't allow WFH. Even if meetings are required, there are so many options now for conference calls, even video calls. doxiemama oh no, I'm sorry! I hope he is better soon!

Hi, all. I'm at work for another 20 minutes. We are having leftovers for dinner, so at least that's easy. We have to take everything out of one set of cabinets tonight because they are being torn out tomorrow- next week we have some new cabinetry installed, including an area for our new dual mini kegerator thing. We are going to put in cold brew coffee and wine. I'm so excited! But not excited to have a disaster kitchen area for a week. Oh well.

I’m home from our open house and most families came so that was good.
My coworker was telling me for her 50th birthday this summer her husband gave her a Louis Vuitton purse, a Tiffany necklace, and golf clothes and golf clubs. I’ve been like 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 ever since. Like she had to INSURE her purse. I literally cannot wrap my head around that. And she doesn’t even play golf. Lol.

Thanks thatgolfb, I agree- he is probably just overwhelmed and tired. Hopefully he adjusts soon. Also I’m jealous of your cold brew and wine kegerator!

I typed up almost a whole post and then an outlook reminder popped up that I had a meeting in 15 minutes, and it was at least a 12 minute drive away from my office. I had to abandon the post and my lunch and run out the door. So that’s how my Wednesday went. ldubhawksfan, flights in and out of here are getting really ridiculous. I have a meeting in Orlando early next year so the family is coming with. Flights are already over $400 a person and I’m crying. My DS1, who will be 3 next month, can sing the alphabet backwards. I’m fairly certain he is already smarter than me. We’re having a potluck at my work Friday for our big instate football rivalry game. I’m making dairy free buffalo chicken dip. The recipe calls for mayo but all store bought contains soybean oil. Since we can’t have that, I made my own mayo. I feel pretty domestic. How’s that for a Wednesday random post? 😜

I guess I'll catch up on yesterday before move to today. pootsen, sorry your DS is out of sorts I hope he's not sick! grumpycat, good luck with the travelling this weekend. I am slightly nervous about our trip to Disneyland at the end of the month because DD has had zero recent experience with sleeping anywhere other than her crib. Eep. But our flights were cheap, $250pp and that's from expensive ass Canada! thatgolfb, wow, you are living the life!!! roloma, that does sound very domestic, I'm impressed!

roloma, I can’t believe tickets are so damn expensive into Iowa!! I mean it’s my home and love going there, but it’s not like we are going to Hawaii. Flights should not be this much!!

When the ILs are in Florida we fly Allegiant because there is a direct flight right into where they live basically. Even those are getting expensive. I don’t understand it at all.
