Good morning. Big kid’s schools have called half days today and tomorrow due to a heat wave. DS1 headed off to meet his friend and go to the bus. Bus was scheduled at 7:19, he texted me at 7:20 that the bus wasn’t there. It didn’t arrive until 7:42 and school starts at 7:47 so I’m sure he was extra anxious to be late on day 1. DD didn’t have to go until 8:45 so it felt like forever before we dropped her off. I worked out and showered while C napped and T played. Now I’m enjoying my air conditioned house instead of my hot classroom where I could have been.

mwhip Glad today went well for E. maybe it was good you weren't there. peachsmama too cute, he looks excited. slenle Our pedi scheduled Theo for the 2.5 year, so I assumed it was a routine visit? Never checked if it was covered or not though. flamingo Glad B did well during the sleep study, enjoy your kid free time!

morning! Glad it sounds like all the school drop offs went well! slenle S did not have a 2.5 year old appointment, but when I leave the appt for B's 2 year old, she specifically told me to come back at 2.5, so I would assume it's covered? I think our Dr office said they only do it if they have any concerns (growth, developmental, health, etc)

I dropped the boys off, S for his first day of PreK. It's weird b/c he actually did PreK last year when he moved up mid cycle, so there are 4 other kids from that class, than his whole old class of younger kids. So in a weird way it feels like he's moving backyards.
I dropped B off in the older class. We decided to try it and if he's not ready we will move him back. I say we, like MH had an opinion... I decided. Anyway, when I dropped him off, he was for sure the youngest kid in the class, there were 15 ish kids already there running around and he looked like a deer in headlights. I'm sure he'll adjust, but I miss the calmness of his last class!!

I should be getting ready before waking up the kids but I’m catching up here. Lol. I’m taking the kids to school. Work is providing lunch so 1 less thing for me to do. Then I’m picking up the kids. Originally C was going to go to the gym after work and I was going to be doing bedtime alone. Last night he saw how much work it was and is now going to come home and help then go to the gym. I also think his bff told him to help. Who knows I’m just happy to get help. Maybe I'm a b, but workouts should be during sleeping hours during the week if both parents are working, especially when you are finding a new routine. MH gets up at 5 to run or goes for one after bedtime. Glad he came home to help. I basically workout on weekends at this point.

Oh! I keep posting, but peachsmama was in my dream last night! We were on vacation, "summer-ing" somewhere, so we had been there a while. I kept going to this one place for breakfast, and I saw someone that looked like her one day. I didn't say anything, because what are the odds. Then I saw her another day with her H and the boys, so I knew it was her. Only she didn't look like the pics that are posted here. blond hair with pink streaks in it. But anyway, I walked up to her and said something like "I think I know you" . And she looked at me crazy and I said something awkward like "I know you from the internet" Finally, we made the connection and her H told me to sit down. So I was sitting with the family and I think maybe a grandparent or 2. But peachsmama literally said like 2 words to me and it was weird. So I finally got my to go order (only 2 sandwiches) and left. Instead of going back to vacation house, for some reason I went to my own house, which now was a townhouse. When I got there, I opened the bag with the food, but there was a typed up note from peachsmama that said she was shy in person. And it had an address on it to write to her. In gaitlinburg TN. Weird.

He works out with friends so I know he tries to work around the kids schedule

So I just called our insurance. I think i got my answer but she didn’t sound confident. I asked if it was covered and she said well visits are covered through age 6. I said yes, but is a 2.5 year covered? Yes, covered through age 6. Okay..... so, you’re saying I could bring him in 5 times a year for well child visits and they’d be covered? “Yes, through age 6”......... I may have hung up on her.

Morning,
I’m a mean mom today... drop off went horrible as usual. He started crying when we pulled up, I carried him in and then asked where he wanted to put his backpack. He continued crying. I hung it up, crouched down and gave him a hug and a kiss and said I had to leave. Started to walk away, he followed crying. I crouched and gave him another hug and then walked away. His teacher held onto him and I could hear him screaming/crying "mommy!" and stomping or trying to run after me. 😔 I didn't look back and kept going but I still feel terrible.
I don’t know how to help this kid. He started telling me at 7:30 this morning that he wasn’t going to school and he was staying home with me. I explained that it isn’t an option and I’m sorry. Tried telling him everyone has to go to school. He cries that he’s scared, I try find out what’s scary or why he’s scared. Sometimes he doesn’t know and other times it’s because he has to leave me. I’ve never left/forgotten him... he’s always been picked up on time. I don’t know how to help him.
ETA: wow that was a lot... LSS - N still cries at drop off, I don’t know how to help him.

Hi all. Trying to cram in a lot of work before this weekend. I took j to target to get n night time diapers and our small city target carried exactly zero nighttime diapers. Grr. And j found a toy and only put it down when I said the police would come if he walked out if the store with it. We said we could see how much money he has to go back and get it, but I can't even find it online so i have no idea how much it is or if it's even still be there...some Jurassic Park Jeep. First thing he asked this am was how much it cost and if we can go back tonight 🤦.

She can't really give more than that because whether or not it's covered is going to depend on how your doctor's office codes the visit and whether or not they say it was just routine management or submit another diagnosis code. There's no way you could get them to cover that five times a year but so long as your pedi's staff knows how to bill then a biannual visit should be fine. And if it gets denied I would appeal it.

So, update on the door install. We have been to the hardware store 10+ times and ended up buying a completely new door. The wood one we stained and brought back to life was slightly warped at the top and would not close properly once installed. So, I have not had a working front door since Friday, and we had friends over all weekend 😬
Anyway, after perusing the hardware stores and not finding anything we loved, we found a unicorn on CL. This guy who works insurance claims had kept a brand new, high-end fiberglass door on a job where there was a break-in through the side light and they replaced the whole unit. He sold it to us for a fraction of the exhorbitant price tag, and we got a beautiful new fancy front door.
Now I just need H to install the hardware, so I can enter my house again.

cheeksmum I'm sorry, that is so hard. FWIW my son cried at drop off for the first 3 months of kindergarten. I just kept telling him I knew it was hard for him, that I was proud of him for being brave and I would see him very soon. Eventually, I think they just have to get used to the new routine, but I know it's not easy to witness.

Hugs cheeksmum B cried through the first month of drop-off when he started preschool; it feels harsh but you’re handling it the right way. Hang in there and I hope he’s feeling better about everything soon! So cute snoopmommymom and peachsmama! Where does everyone get these cute blackboard signs? I feel woefully unprepared. Here is B this morning (sorry for social media repeat)

cheeksmum, is he allowed to bring something, like a lovey, a toy or a book? Even if he has to keep it in his cubby/backpack, maybe you can tell him it will help him be brave? Or maybe instead of something of his, something of yours that he can hold in his pocket or something so he can touch it or see it and know you are "with" him?

Also, I didn't really take any pics, chalkboard or other, for Back to school. It just seems so anticlimactic when it's all at the same school. I'll have to get my act together for K next year though. O looks adorable! snoopmommymom. All you guys who's kids are taking the bus to school, it just seems so mature! Our town only does busing if you are more than a mile from the school. The elementary school and middle school we are zoned for are right next to each other and about a 6 and 5 minute walk respectively. High school is the other direction, and a little further, maybe a 9 minute walk. So no busing for us, ever.

cagoldi in our school there are 2 toilets per 2 classrooms (toilets are in between the rooms, sinks are in the classrooms), but boys are only allowed in with other boys, and girls with girls. I've been in there a few times when S is taking his sweet time and some girl really has to go so they are trying to get him out for her to get in.
