MH started today with meetings, but the school district got tragic news this morning that one of the high school students passed away in a boating accident yesterday, so they’re canceling everything to open the schools for support and grief counseling.

Our summer of EVERYTHING breaking continues apace. We are currently without water as our well reservoir has a leak. Repairman in before noon, though, so that's good.

Phone interview tomorrow at noon. I feel ready for it. I've spoken with close to ten people, and some multiple times, in preparation for it. I feel like I've got a good handle on the job and institution. We'll see how it goes!

We walked across the Mackinac Bridge yesterday. It's a big deal in our state, and it might be my last chance for the foreseeable future. Crossed that sucker off my bucket list!

Morning. H has school, I have to work tonight and in between I’m going to watch my friend’s boys for a few hours. It’s supposed to be rainy today but I haven’t gotten out of my room to look out the window so I’m not sure if it’s started yet.

Morning! DH is back to work today, although he's taking the next few days off to take C down to my ILs'. B has the sleep study tonight and then school starts tomorrow (terrible timing but it was either that or mid-Oct.)

Today I'll just be doing laundry and packing for everyone's various trips/events.

We witnessed a near drowning incident this weekend. Little boy about 3 yrs was climbing down a ladder across the pool from his dad, who was drying off, when he let go... No sooner did I say " is he okay?" was it obvious his head was not coming back up. The dad jumped in fully clothed and grabbed him. Luckily he seemed okay...MH and I were shook up for a while after that.

It's so easy. Earlier this summer we had just left the back porch and I had C in her swimsuit but not yet in her puddle jumper. I turned around to help B with something (literally less than 5 seconds) and in that time C had gone into the pool, down the steps, and was under water looking up at me. I beat myself up for a long time after that one, but it was also a good lesson that it only takes a split second. I think it really hit it home for B, too, why we are so obsessed with pool/water safety, esp. for C. 

eta: and it's silent. She did not make a peep. I've seen a lot more articles in the last few years about how drowning is so quiet, as opposed to how it's portrayed in TV/movies, and that is really true.

Today is C's first day of young 5's. He was nervous and shy, but seemed to be doing ok when we left. It's just 1.5 hours today, so I'll pick him up shortly!

We just dropped evie off...she was crying so hard, so I may have had tears in my eyes just because i felt so bad for her. I hope her morning goes fast...we already told her we would take her to her favorite ice cream place this afternoon.

Boys are playing. I'm about to work out after getting some work done then we're going to the library and lunch. I need to get stuff to make J a birthday cake too. We're going to build a bear and dinner tomorrow to celebrate. With everything going on and our trip, I think we're going to have a big joint party in late October for him and M. They both want Halloween parties.

Aww mwhip I know that is so hard!! We are still dealing with crying at drop off even though Gunner says he had fun when I pick him up.... she will start enjoying herself pretty quickly I’m sure!! She looked adorable in her pictures!!

Drowning freaks me out so bad. I’m getting ready to start my little two in rescue swimming. I’m so paranoid especially now that we are in Florida again. We did it with Giovanna and it was the best thing ever if anyone is considering it! It is hard down here though- we are making new friends and going to their houses- some of which have older kids so their pools will be open and I have to ask this person I just met if I can go lock all their doors with access to the pool. Of course no one minds but it’s hard to relax with an open pool regardless.

Hi!!!! Both kids dropped off and I’m on the shuttle to work. With time to spare!

Thanks for all the love and support. No tears from anyone today (including me). They ended up putting LO in level 5 instead of 6. I’m a little angry over this but when I saw who was in 6 I got over it. It was only kids who were in level 5 last year. It just means LO will be in the same class as the naughty kid again.

I won’t be on a lot today, I have 4 hours of training and 2 hours of meetings. It’s my jobs way of saying welcome back!!

Drowning is my biggest fear. That’s why LO started swim at 6 months and E will start around then too.

Cadence gets her SMOs tomorrow morning. We of course, don't have the proper shoes yet because they said to wait so we could try them on after she has them. Now I have to decide if I take her to get shoes right after getting them so she can wear them the rest of the day, or if I take her after school. I guess I'll wait and see how long the appt takes. Kohls doesn't open until 9 and her appt is at 8:15, so it may be too early and have to wait until after school anyway.
