Potty training is going extremely well, but it is the longest day ever in my house with the both.kids. And I’m pretty sure I didn’t get Charlie dressed quickly enough before both the Fed ex worker and the exterminator got a view of his naked tush...sorry buddy! Here too! L has done amazing today! We are kinda chained to the house though, especially since it's hot and muggy so I don't even feel like playing in the yard. Same. And they don’t want to swim. Making me crazy. And by the way, yay for L!!

Speaking of potty training... we trained S sitting down. For 2 reasons - 1) he's short - so when there is not stool available I thought he wouldn't reach. Then with the stool he seems so high that I was worried about mess. 2) I heard in the beginning they aren't sure if they need to pee or poop and I didn't want to find out the hard way.
But now it feels weird that he always sits. And I see all his little friends running in to go and they all stand.
So I guess now I need to retrain him??

jewels, Like I said I have no idea what I’m doing. I wanted to train Charlie to stand immediately. Well, the joke’s on me because not only does he not stand, but he sits backwards on the little potty.

jewels trained ds sitting down too, seriously didn’t know that there was another option. He’ll sometimes stands though, but trust me, it gets messy quite fast.

C first learned sitting but when he saw others stand he wanted to do that. I had DH show him since I don't do that. It was an easy transition. A little harder getting him to remember to put both seats up. So many germs. If he is happy sitting, let him be I say.

I forgot, we trained C sitting down as well. After he got the hang of it he asked to stand (pretty sure he saw MH or others in public restrooms) and he transitioned to that pretty easily.
I'm nervous for when we are outside and unable to make it to the bathroom? With C we just find a secluded spot and let him pee if we are unable to make it to a bathroom (like a park with no bathroom or if we are walking and far from the house). What does one do for girls, other than bring portable potties?

Evies teacher said she cried off and on all morning. When we left, she said it wasnt that bad. I wish I could work from home the rest of the week and take her and pick her up, but know we need to get into our routine to help her. Hope all the others days were better! We went to target after, then lunch and the sweet shoppe, so she was happy. She did say shes excited to go back tomorrow. For those without fb...

I'd rather do that than in their car seats! I just open the car door and have him stand between it and me so no one can see him. *shrugs*

Always try to go before you leave the house, if you stop at a store before the park, go again there. Even if they say they don't need to, they have to try.
ETA: oh plus, always have spare clothes in your car. There are going to be unavoidable accidents.

FWP - I'm so annoyed. M said she wants to try ballet again. There's a studio just down the street from my house so I called to see what time their classes would be for her age. Wednesday from 4-5. She said to check back later because if enough people express an interest they could create another class. I might be able to get my MIL to do take her but it'd be totally out of the way for her and rush hour traffic on the way home.

tgrimes times like that for extracurricular activities drive me crazy. How are working parents supposed to have their kid participate when the activities are during regular business hours???

So, you know how generally I’m cool with all changes with respect to the kids growing up, right?
You guise, today I was a mess.
First we go and drop off J at daycare, head to the OSC room where all his friends were and all excited talking about when they’re going to school, I tear up. Head to the school, line ups outside and families walking with kids so excited for the new year, I tear up. Go to the classroom and the teacher hands him a ‘first day’ sign and takes our picture, I tear up. I leave, I tear up.
The softies on this board don’t stand a chance 😉

I forgot how much work 11 month olds are. I have started removing some of my baby proofing because S is beyond that now so I had to break out the baby gate and put stuff up after the kids got here. Getting S and the baby down around the same time was kinda dicey but we figured it out. It was nice snuggling a sleeping baby though. The kids are all having fun playing together. It’s rainy outside so we’re stuck inside but it’s going just fine. H has been really helpful which makes me excited for when I have another baby, S is also smitten with him too. mwhip sorry for the teary drop off but it’s great she wants to go back tomorrow. Hopefully she’ll be so excited to go to school soon.

I hope they add another class.

jewels as others said, B also trained sitting down, and still typically sits here at the house (I'm fine with that, keeps my bathrooms cleaner!). At preschool last year is when he started used the urinals b/c they were mounted at kid-height and he saw the other kids doing it. My H showed B what to do and that took care of it.

Glad E had fun and wants to go back mwhip! She'll be a pro in no time I've done approximately 1 kazillion loads of laundry today and C and DH are packed for their trip; we'll be leaving for the sleep study shortly. We have to be there at 7 and in the paperwork they sent it says that 'lights out' is b/n 9-10...um, my kid goes to bed at 7:30, lol. By 8 he'll be asking if he can go to bed. I really hope they don't need him to stay up *that* late.

What does the sleep study entail? Just watching B sleep or do they wake him throughout the night for anything? flamingo

flamingo here is a pic of S during her sleep study. I don’t know if the element of surprise is better or if you’d rather prepare him. Lol but they hook a lot of wires up all over and a nose piece taped to face. S didn’t love it 😬.
