Hmm I just read a study that they determined treating women at risk of pre-e with aspirin was ineffective, if it’s something you don’t really want to do I can try and dig it up for you to bring in to your doc. Sorry for the stress re genetic testing. What kind of testing would it be? Sorry just responding so I misunderstood things a little they suggested talking to a genetic counselor so understand my “risks” in having a child with spina bifida since my dads mom and sister both have it... and suggested then getting the panorama I think it’s called? MH doesn’t want us to do it because the added cost but because he doesn’t want me to worry for no reason. My mom and sister both have kids and none have spina bifida so that’s his reasoning. I’m torn and I have to decide like now given how many weeks I am she said. Is it something you're worried about now? To me it sounds like you wouldn't need to meet with the genetic counselor unless things came back abnormal from the panorama, and if you do have that concern then it might just help put you at ease. If not you could prepare yourself now? I know that everyone is different and it's a personal decision, but if it's something you do want to do, I think I'd push it further with your H.

I have my first OB appointment in an hour. I’m so nervous! I don’t know if they do doppler this early, and I don’t have an US today. I just want a peek at what is happening in there!
I’m also dreading the blood work. And the poking and prodding. I guess I should be used to it by now.

IME no they won’t try the doppler this early, they don’t like to freak you out if they aren’t able to find the HB, and 9 weeks is a bit early. But of course YMMV and you may have a very confident doctor! Wishing you all the best and sorry about the pokes and prods. The more of them I get in this journey the more I hate them, I agree it seems like it should go the other way but it doesn’t for me.

My baby has a heartbeat! I had my ultrasound today and we got to see and hear it for the first time 💗💗💗 they also pushed back my due date (which I expected) to 4/22. I knew I ovulated on CD 18 so the baby measuring around 9+3 makes total sense. You guys, I am so relieved. I was convinced we were going to get in there and be told this was all a giant mistake, that the baby was gone. But it’s there, wiggling around and it has a heartbeat and I am so, so happy My H got all misty eyed and can’t stop smiling. This is actually happening!

Appointment went well! She pulled in the portable little u/s for a heartbeat check, so that was a fun surprise. I scheduled out my next 3 appointments so I could get my 20 week u/s date picked out! Crazy!
Now to relax and not worry for the next 4 weeks...

I got my doppler today and couldn't figure it out 😂 I found a heartbeat but I'm pretty sure it was just mine. I have a regular ob appt tomorrow morning so I'm anxious for that and to take notes when she listens for the hb so maybe I can figure it out at home, ha!

pambee, part of the reason I’m not sure if I’ll get one is because I don’t know if I’ll be able to figure it out either! Hope your appointment today is some help.

I’m glad y’all had great appointments lemondrop and jacks! I have a friend who is going to let me borrow her doppler. I’ve never tried a doppler on myself, but I’ve done it on others. I had some cramping yesterday, but no bleeding, so hopefully my OB’s office will let me come in for a quick doppler check there.

Thanks everyone I've been avoiding posting a bit because I was so anxious about having an issue and didn't want to jinx it, but I'll definitely be participating more now! Especially in the baby gear thread, because holy crap I had no idea how many options there were for strollers. And car seats. And literally everything else lol.

YouTube videos helped me learn the doppler better than anything! Baby sounds like a galloping horse or a chugging train. ☺️ it takes a minute for my doppler to show the real heart rate, so listen for sound first and when you think you’ve found it wait a minute to see if the heart rate climbs. Usually I find it registers around 120 when I find it and climbs up to the 140’s - 170’s.

My appointment was good, and I went straight home and tried on mine again and found it right away. I'll go weekly for fetal tone checks now so I don't think I'll need it so much, but it'll be fun to show H and E.

There’s something so special about being relaxed at home and just taking a minute to listen. I think it helps me bond with the baby. ETA this is just about me, no commentary on anyone else. I just don’t feel like I have an easy time bonding with them even right after birth so I like how hearing them on the doppler makes me excited!

Everything was so complicated with this pregnancy and it took me a long time to even accept it as real, but hearing and seeing him puts a smile on my face that I can't hide. Like, that's a real actual baby in there. No matter what happens, he's there now, he's my baby.

I had a hard time sleeping last night. We had a client appreciation thing, and since everyone at work knows, everyone was only talking to me about twins. I guess it was overwhelming combined with my PgAL brain, being paranoid to stop progesterone, and my appt this last week with the doom and gloom MFM. People were telling clients without me even there, so they'd come up and want to talk about it, and I'm like, how do you even know??
It was just too much and then I was paranoid about so many people knowing. I should've waited a few weeks to tell work, maybe.

Eames I'm sorry you were overwhelmed. I don't understand why people think it's their place to tell your news. I waited until I was sure I was okay with the whole church knowing before telling the ladies in one of my groups, because I knew how quickly it would spread. And of course on the Thursday I had told a group of 10 women and every. one. was congratulating me by Sunday. I wasn't mad at that point since I knew it would happen, but it's amazing how no one understands privacy.

Eames huge hugs, my anxiety spiralled really hard after we announced to family and close friends and I didn’t see it coming. I thought I’d waited long enough etc but I was just not as ok as I thought. I don’t have any real advice just saying I was there too and I do feel better now. I wish I could give you some blissful ignorance. Celebrating the happy news in life does not mean bad news is coming to take its place. That’s what I told myself. ❤️

I am on day 3 (!) without nausea in a row, don’t want to jinx it but fx this is the way forward. I am about to head OOT for 8 days 😬 my longest ever trip away from my kids. I am anxious about missing them.... and about how I’m going to get my 9:30 pm homemade egg McMuffin that helps me sleep without waking up starving at 2 am. I’m being silly I just need to tell the family/friends I’m staying with that I need to make it, but I feel goofy.

Tlex wow enjoy your trip away!! Are you just visiting family? And girl, embrace that pregnancy weirdness and make your mcmuffin. I mean, what if it's the secret to the lack of nausea?? Don't risk that! 😂 I have to eat a small second dinner around 8pm so I'm not starving too, so I get it.

You’re right I need to be strong in my convictions and just make my darn sandwich! Don’t fix what ain’t broken!
