cagoldi I hope the wait isn’t longer than a few weeks. X sounds like an amazing kid, regardless of any diagnosis.

Hi!
We had a good time catching up with our friends, and the kids played so nicely together. We had pomegranate margaritas that were delicious.
Sneak peek of the teenage years...I also made pigs in a blanket (thanks to our recent conversation about them here, I was craving them) and B and their little boy (who’s in 1st grade) devoured about half of them alone. I was thinking we’d have a few leftover to snack on later, but nope!

We helped my sister and BIL move today. It was HOT and we had 6 kids (4.5, 2.5, 2, 10mo, 6mo and 3mo). The kids did amazing though!

We had a really good time at the cookout. Which wasn’t really a cook “out” but fun regardless. We saw people we haven’t seen in over ten years and while I rolled my eyes at some hippie social work crap- like one of Dhs friends describing his baby’s “pro-social” behavior- I had enough to talk about. There were also about 10 kids and C had a blast.

I was heading out to see Crazy Rich Asians in the theatre this afternoon but my neighbour texted and said she wanted to join and to go this evening. So, now it’s turned into a VIP theatre, with expensive reserved seats where I can order wine.
Should be a good time but i’m pretty sure she’s more interested in leaving her home and husband in charge for a few hours since he took off golfing with MH this morning, too funny.

Total score at Uniqlo - tons of nice looking jeans and pants that are pull on for boys🙌 that are not joggers! And flannels were on special so got a few for j and a vest. I wanted to try on all the pants but will need to go back solo since it was a bit bananas.
Oh and we went to an open house in DC and it was mobbed and house was stunning (well estate sale good bones situation) We could maybe afford it but not after the inevitable escalation clauses. Sigh.
I also like the boys I've loved before movie, super cute! I also watched the Kristen bell movie about a cruise with her dad last weekend, it was pretty good as well.

Potty training went surprisingly well. No other accidents after the two on the deck this morning, and he also use the potty to poop without being asked. He did not want to put on a diaper to go to bed tonight. We have another low-key day planned tomorrow hoping to do another no pants day!

I took another 2 hour nap today. It was weird. I woke up after an hour, but didn't get up and ended up asleep again.
I took Cadence to the park this morning and met up with the coworker and her daughter. When we left, Cadence said it wasnt fun because she had to do everything the girl said and not what she wanted to do.
Mh then took her to an indoor play place and then to his Dad's.
Hoping for another easy bedtime tonight, although she did end up in my bed last night around 1:30.

Everything nam2013 said cagoldi. And he's just now 2. Not like he's 6 and you've been burying your head in the sand and now he's struggling in school. As soon as you were made aware you took all the right steps and will get him everything he needs to succeed. This! PDQ...My nephew is 10....he’s always had...oddities(?) I guess, about him. But it wasn’t till he was school age (like 1st/2nd grade) that my sister started thinking maybe he could be on the spectrum. Like Asperger’s maybe. He’s extremely intelligent academically. But really struggles socially. She opted at that point not to look further into it and get a diagnosis because it wouldn’t change anything for him academically. However he really really struggles socially. I worry about when he gets older because he isn’t learning the skills he needs to thrive in social situations. I feel like if it were me I still would have looked into it because with a diagnosis, it opens the door for soooo much help and therapy. So all that to say, don’t feel like you “missed” it. You are being proactive now, as soon as you learned of the possibility.

Which I understand to a point, but a) everything we know about the autism spectrum says that early intervention is best and can make a huge difference in 'outcome', and b) having that diagnosis opens doors in terms of getting the child allowances, help and assistance (for ex, an IEP at school).

J had a fever after nap but tylenol took it down and it didn't come back. A took the bike out so it's just me and the boys. I never did paint today so I will tomorrow. And seriously, we're all obsessed with the bunnies lol. Even A.

Exactly! I actually had one of Sierra’s therapists say that if ASD ever came up with S...to not shy away from it because it can open so many doors for help. There’s a lot of funding available and resources available. More so than the “smaller” diagnoses she has. And by smaller, I mean other diagnoses that fall under the umbrella of the bigger ones. Like speech delay, developmental delay, cognitive delay, sensory processing disorder, gross motor delays, fine motor delays. She has a behavioral therapist that sees her once a week for an hour that is an ABA Specialist and I love her! I actually worked as an aide for 2 kiddos with autism about 13 years ago. They were 3 and 5 at the time. But they were severe. Non verbal, combative, tons of sensory issues, ect. I had no idea that life was preparing me for my future life. 😂. I always said I didn’t think I was cut out for that job. But now it’s my life. In a weird way, I feel like it truly gave me some experience and tools to have a better understanding and be a better parent.

Re: house size - our house is 1900sq foot. 1 story with a walk out unfinished basement. It’s the perfect size for us. 3 bedrooms, 2 bath. Plus an office/play room. I use the term office loosely though. Literally a small desk and file cabinet and printer. The rest is a disaster of toys. The living room/dining room/kitchen are all open. I really like the layout. The basement houses all of our junk/stuff on one side. The other side we plan to finish with a bar/family room, bathroom, small bedroom at some point. But that’s been the plan since we bought it almost 10 years ago! Maybe someday!
