Ds2 has been sleeping like garbage again. Teething plus developmental leap I think. All I know is that I'm tired. He seems happy enough during the day 🤷 though he is annoyed with me because I won't let him chew on ds1's farm animal magnets.
We gave a meal to a family last night and they loved it! Even their picky kid asked for seconds! Dh was tickled pink that they enjoyed it so much. Cooking is his love language and he's really good at it. I've been talking about actually writing down his recipes and starting a blog for him. He has a friend who also enjoys cooking and I think it would be cute to have them both take the same meal (say beef chili) and see what varieties they make. I'll add that to my list of things I don't have time to do ... Speaking of, I'm starting to plan a surprise party for my mom for her bday. My aunt is helping thankfully. And working on ds2's birthday party as well.

That is a cute blog idea grumpycat! Sorry your DS had a crappy sleep. DD had trouble falling back asleep after her middle of the night feed 🤷 then was up at 6. It's a bit dreary here today so that's not helping to wake me up.

Hey everyone! I am catching up after being on vacation and my parents being in town, so don't mind me LTing old stuff I didn't get nearly as much done during my time off as I wanted, but still made a good dent. Having my parents visit was awesome, Dad is so great with N. They spoiled him rotten and I think the poor kid is confused because he was looking for them when he came home from daycare on Monday. N cut his second tooth, and pulled himself up on an activity cube my parents got him. Still not crawling, but wants to stand. Yesterday was my first day back to work and it was nuts, so my pumping schedule got totally messed up. I wound up with a clogged duct last night that didn't clear, so I actually did a quick manual pump this morning (about 2.5oz) just to relieve the pressure. Still managed to get 9oz between the two at my usual morning pump, so OMG owwww. Monday we took N to a pediatric surgeon to have his cyst looked at (finally - our pedi recommended it as a precaution). H and I were pretty sure they would tell us to let it be unless it bothers him, but the surgeon is recommending we remove it. It's nothing serious, he confirmed it's a dermoid cyst, but says it would be best for us to have it removed while it's whole and uninfected. He said it's like a balloon - if it gets bigger or gets infected, they would have to lance it, which pops the balloon (and would require antibiotics for N on top of it). Since the wall of the cyst is more difficult to find and remove at that point, the possibility of recurrence is higher. But, getting it removed is outpatient surgery under general anesthesia. H wants to wait but I think we should go ahead and have it done. Not that I'm wild about N being put under, but I think some minor pain now to avoid more pain of an infection later (and recurrence, where we'd just be having the same debate again) is preferable. Both our moms agree, so I think H has been won over. I'm going to call and schedule today, since they won't get preauthorization from my insurance without a date. I also think I'm going to try and make next month "No-Spend September", and not spend money on anything that isn't necessary. I really need to get myself under control. It's not anything specific/major, but too many little things adding up. I have two family weddings in the next two months, so I'll make exceptions for those gifts, but otherwise, I really need to cut back for a bit.

I think my supply is dropping. I got sick last week so I’m not surprised, but I’m not mentally ready to start getting into the freezer stash.
Also today is B’s first school pictures.

cakewench - we are doing “shelftember” where you cook what you have on hand and spend very little on groceries. It should be interesting.

DS1 has his 4 year old well check later today. I’m curious to see how he’s measuring up %-wise. He’s always been on the short size but I feel like he really grew a lot in the last year so we shall see!
Other than that just another day in the office 😂

grumpycat I lol’d at “I’ll add that to my list of things I don’t have time to do.” — I have one of those lists too! Mine includes things like clean out the entry-way closet, organize photos, and finish Ds1’s baby book (and catch up on C’s). Shit in the back of my mind that I always mean to do, but never actually have time for. Drives me crazy! We are having a low-key day. I picked up half of a shift for a coworker so I have to go into work at 3.

Hi, all. I am glad you had some nice time off cakewench! Sorry for the rough night grumpycat. Would follow your H's recipe blog, as long as you put the recipe as the first thing and THEN make me scroll through 40 pages of your life story (one of my biggest cooking blog pet peeves is making me scroll one millionty pages before seeing the recipe). Today is a day. Yesterday, my day off, was awesome. But Monday was a rough work day, and today is even rougher. And it could be hormones but everything is pissing me off, so I am having to keep myself in check before I go off on someone. Fortunately I have been successful thus far...

Yesterday was a shit show. The older two were hell on wheels. Mostly DS instigating, but DD1 is starting to become quite the little shit too. She didn't have a nap yesterday so by the time I left at 5:45 with DS for swimming she was already melting down. DD2 slept like garbage after a couple nights of decent 7-8hr stretches. And she's JUST NOW settling in for her first nap of the day (not for lack of trying). DD1 is also down. When they both wake up we'll go back outside to play with the water table.

Sorry to hear about the surgery, snuff9861, but I am sure everything will go great. Hugs and FX! H just has this "It's been fine, it will continue to be fine" mentality about some things that drives me bonkers. Like no, past performance is no guarantee of future performance. Just because it's been fine the last six months doesn't mean it will still be fine next spring.

And then to put seventy billion pictures of every single ingredient and step before the recipe. I'm looking at you, Pioneer Woman. I know what a pound of butter looks like, get on with it already.

I have to get him to actually write his recipes down though lol.

Man I am beat today! I stayed up late crafting for my coworker's baby shower/I was up worrying about my mom's chemo starting today. Baby shower was a success. Mom's chemo got rescheduled for Friday. She had an EKG yesterday to make sure her heart was well to start chemo, the guy doing the test said her heart was great but apparently he didn't record her numbers so they had to redo the test today which they didn't find out until she went in for her chemo appointment. Quite frustrating. I think I need a glass of wine tonight. And hopefully I can get to bed early.
Yesterday Siena started to take steps with her push toy all on her own. We've propped them standing holding onto it before and they'll pull themselves to stand on it but they hadn't taken steps with it on their own before. So we of course put Paris on it too and she was able to take a couple of steps without our help too. I'm not ready for this!

I like that blog idea grumpycat! It reminds me of the show Chopped, which I love! I also went to an event called Cochon 555 once upon a time where 5 different chefs each got a pig to cook meal out of and it was really cool to see what different things they did...and OMG we ate so much! cakewench I really need to reign in my spending as well. Especially since I want to leave my job in the near future. I'm officially not allowed to go to Target anymore. You would think that since I'm an accountant I should be able to stick to a budget better, but it's hard!

DS1 is still small but proportionately small (20% for both), plus H and I are not big people by any means. He got two shots and handled them like a champ, didn’t even flinch! Then we had 4K orientation even though he’s actually just in the 4 y/o daycare program but they do a lot of preK stuff too. The time I was told was wrong but we went in met the teachers and got home way earlier than I had anticipated so that was great!

I wish I had more time to check in. I don’t always have a chance to respond but I’m reading all of it.
I survived my first day of school. It was hot as balls but luckily I have an air conditioner because I'm on the second floor. Kids seem good right now but it’s the honeymoon period.
My aunt died on Monday. She was the baby of the family and had some health issues in the last few years. But it was full liver and kidney failure. We had no idea she was in such bad shape until Saturday. She lived in Florida and my mom hopped a plane on Monday hoping to see her one last time. Unfortunately she was too late.

belle0720, what a pain re: your mom! Hope it all gets sorted out. These babies taking steps already, crazy. Also, my accountant friend and I (also an accountant) we're talking today about not saving money for potentially having to pay taxes on our mat leave... Should know better! I am pretty sure I'll be okay, but that lucky girl gets top up, so she'll have to pay.

grumpycat, we're in the same boat. I really hope it's the leap/teeth as I genuinely don't know what to do with her: she normally would just go to bed after a cuddle and happily grab her chew thing, chat to herself a wee while and go to sleep. For the last few days, she cries as soon as I try to leave the room then screams her head off every time I approach the crib after comforting her She also wakes up MOTN and wakes up crying in the morning (would normally also just wake up and chat for at least 15 minutes). YOU CAN'T SLEEP IN MY ARMS ALL NIGHT!!! Also, I really need sleep. I guess there's nothing to do but to endure and hope it's temporary? Any tips appreciated.
