Yes! Today he made a comment about her kindle. Look fucker, I've been in this waiting room for an hour. I'm happy I brought the damn thing because I usually don't! Please tell me you said something along the lines of, "well, we usually only use it for LONG waits" Lol! I said, "Well, it was an hour to drive up here and I've been waiting for you since 8:45 so...."

tgrimes , that stinks, hopefully he can recommend someone. mwhip , I don't recall, is she starting K or PreK? I agree with what everyone else said, S has been in the same school since 12 weeks old and he still struggles in new situations. I actually have the opposite concern... he is SO comfortable at his DC, with his classmates, teachers, etc, that it's going to be such a dramatic change when he does start K, I feel like I should have exposed him to more things outside of that (ie even when we do classes like sports, swimming, etc, we do them with his little group of DC friends). peachsmama , good luck today with the cast! She will start preschool, so PreK, we just call it Preschool here. I put her in an in home DC at about 1yr old, where she was one of 4 kids at the time, but for 2 days a week. 2 years ago, it was just Evie and another boy her age, then last year, it became just her. She went there 2 days a week and is with grandparents the other 3 days, so I feel like I've messed up her ability to enjoy other kids, since she's so used to one on one time with adults. She'll do great. I didn't start preschool till (I believe) the year before K, and I don't think it hurt me. I feel like back in the day, DC and years of Preschool were out of the norm, many kids just started at K and they did fine.

No daycare, preschool, pre-k, and only half day kinder seemed ok when we were little. I think it will be fine for now as well. Being around only adults is actually not a bad thing. I bet her communication skills are better than most of the kids she will encounter!

TTC question: this is the first time I’ve ever been on birth control for any extended period of time. My prescription should be renewed after this pack, but I’m trying to decide if I should renew or not. We are planning to start ttc in November so I’m wondering if stopping 2 months before is a good idea to get all the stuff out of my system. Or does it not really matter?

Wtf. Goldfish are a staple in our house, but if I've got the kids at the dr I'm not above whipping out something like fruit snacks or a sucker. He'd have a field day with that. Yes! Today he made a comment about her kindle. Look fucker, I've been in this waiting room for an hour. I'm happy I brought the damn thing because I usually don't! He must not have kids. What a douche.

With B, I gave my body about 1 cycle off the pill to 'regulate' after having been on it for 3 or 4 years. IIRC that was my OB's advice and it made sense. I got pregnant the first month of TTC. Theoretically you could probably get pregnant right away so I guess just consider that, too. DH was deployed when I went off mine so it didn't matter.

tgrimes, At Layla's last appointment the NP said something about her BMI but she phrased it more as "I'm looking at her, and I see that she's fine. The chart says her BMI is high, but I'm not worried at all" She never used the words overweight, and Layla doesn't know what BMI is at all. Regardless, I think it's sad that such an outdated measure of health is still being used. My kid is thick, she will always have a little badunkadunk. We generally eat low carb overall as a family, but I'm certainly not putting my child on a diet. In fact I'm currently eating a cakebox cookie that my daughter loved making with me on Sunday, and I won't deny her a simple childhood pleasure like that. I've been on a diet since I was 8 years old, not because I needed to be looking back at pictures, but because I was slightly bigger than my sisters. My mom had no concept that anything other than super skinny could be healthy. It has created a lifelong struggle. I will not allow that for my daughter. I'm glad he didn't suggest putting her on a diet, and I'm equally glad that you now have a reason to find another doctor. Obviously I have a lot of feels on this subject.... but I'll stop now. You are doing great and M is perfect!!

The problem with weight is someone is always going to say "you're too fat" or "you're too skinny". I say screw them all, all that matters is how you feel about yourself.

tgrimes My kids have consistently been in the 95+percentile or even off the chart. The only one who I ever got any flack for was Evie. I guess even doctor's aren't immune to gender/body biases. Sad.

For those with kids nervous about school, could you send with a little note or keepsake from home? I have seen people do a safety pin, where you wear one and they wear one and touch it everytime you miss home or feel a little sad. Then when they get home you share how many times you touched your pin and talk through the difficult moments. I used to draw a note with my son's favorite cat character and a little note of encouragement to keep in his pocket. This is a good idea, thank you. We do a little snippet from "The Kissing Hand" and give a heart sticker on his Palm sometimes, I should do it again until he's feeling at ease with his new routine.

It depends on how much activity he’s done during the day and how hot it has been. LO sweats a lot. So we might not do bath every night but it does happen most nights. Thanks for the tips. I will try them. Other than bath does he take awhile to get to bed? Like Jewels said, I just bring A in the bathroom with me and out him in the bouncy seat, feed him, hold him, ect. If needed I will do a super super short bath just to get the kids clean. I put L down first cause she's quick. Then I typically put A down while C watches videos. Typically someone is always crying, but we make it work! This is pretty much how it goes with us, too.

This is different for each of us, also depends on when you ovulate, but when I went off BC to get pregnant with Evie, I had been consistently taking the pill for 18 years, or half my life at that time. My doctor said it could take awhile. I was pregnant 5 months later. I figured it would take quite some time for the hormones to get out of my system, it happened much faster than I expected. I would download a period tracker or ovulation tracking app to help you keep track of things.

Look how many people stay home with their kids and don't send them anywhere until pre-k or kindergarten. She'll be fine. You have not ruined her. This. I think it can be a harder adjustment but she's fine and she will continue to be. You made the decisions that best suited your family and your lifestyle and I'd bet anything that six months from now you could line the kids up, ask them questions, and have no idea who went to preschool vs. who was home with parents, grandparents. So long as they had an appropriate, attentive caregiver they are not at any disadvantage.

I’m so angry with M’s doc. BMI is one factor and she’s 4!! How horrible him to say something in front of her. I am glad she didn’t notice.

I'm just so mad about that doctor, tgrimes. How ridiculous. He could have found a much better way like, "you're getting older now, and growing so fast it's important to eat the right foods to keep your body strong and healthy."

The kids on diets makes me so sad. Growing up my best friend and her brother were very thin and her sister was slightly heavier (but not unhealthy/heavy). I'd be over and they'd order pizza and the sister could only have 1/2 slice while everyone else had whatever. The mom always called her fat. Of course the "thin" sibs were also both extremely smart, got straight A+'s and the other sister got (gasp) A's and B's. I know you're shocked to hear she grew up and had a lot of struggles and does not have a great relationship with her parents.

Wtf tgrimes M is not overweight. I remember when lo’s old pediatrician called him overweight. I was so upset. He kept telling me to limit juice and candy. I kept telling him he didn’t eat candy and only had juice on holidays and only 1 cup watered down. He didn’t believe me. Tell me who this doctor is, I’ll send him a a glitter filled envelope.

wineallthetime, my brother's ex was the same way, but opposite. She had 4 girls, 1 was super skinny and the other 3 were not. Pizza came and she wanted salad, it's just what she preferred, she wanted water when they wanted juice, and they ALL made fun of her. "What's wrong with her?" "Who would want salad when there is pizza around". It was sad. Just let kids be themselves. I mean obviously none of us are just letting our kids eat crap all day, but people need to realize everyone's body size and shape is different.

flamingo your post is reminding me how much I hate character lunch boxes. Don't get me wrong, my kids have them too, but every time I pack a lunch I side eye them. I really had to reign myself in and not order the matching lunch boxes to the PB backpacks I got them. I *suppose* they should be able to pick something they like even if I don't, and at least I don't have to look at them in the backpack. But seriously, why are they so ugly??? Like why can't they make them in more subdued colors and graphics like the princess shoes that tgrimes posted the other day? I don't get it. I really like Cs newest lunch box. It’s the Avengers and it lights up when you shake it. It’s just so fun. I think I like the character lunch boxes😬
