I know it's still pretty early but I love thinking of baby names! I have a list in my phone that I've been keeping since my first pregnancy this year and have been adding to all year.
Do you have a list? Do you already have names picked out? Are you one to pick it out way early like me, or wait until baby is born to decide? Do you tend to go with family names? Want to share any names you like right now?

I just brought it up to H last night and he liked a few names on my list, but of course none that were my favorites, ha. He added his own too, which were the same ones he pushed for with E, but I still hate both. We had a boy name picked out before we knew what E was but I'm not crazy about it this time, which H does not understand at all. I can't control my feelings, man! 😂
E's name was just one we both really liked, there's no special meaning behind it. I don't really feel like we "need" to use a family name or have a reason, but I kind of would like to use my middle name for this kid in some way. It can be used for a boy or girl, and modified a bit to flow better depending on what first name we pick, but ironically I don't love it with the top girl name we both like so far so...we'll see.
A few from our list... We both like: Cora, Quinn, Logan (for boy), Henry
My current favorites: Margaret, Louise, Gavin, Henry
H's only suggestions (I don't love): Tegan (spelled like this), Elijah
I really like Theodore too, H doesn't love it but likes Theo. I don't like Theo 😂
Our boy name with E was Michael, and while I still like the name I really don't like it with the middle name I want to use so I'm not crazy about it this time.

I love names! We haven't talked at all, but maybe once we know the sex of the babies we will. Last time we each made a list, and we both had the same name so it was easy.
I want to do grandparent middle names as middle names or somehow include family.
For girls, I like: Natalie, Margaret, Beatrix (nn Bea like Bea Arthur).
For boys I have a tougher time but I like Clark and Noel (pronounced Nole). I used to also have Charles (nn Charlie) on the list, but not sure. I used to know a dog named Charlie so I always think of it. 😂

Oh I love baby names! It is my favourite pregnancy hobby haha. I look for meanings typically but have also gone with just a name we liked. I have a little list on the pregnancy app but nothing too much yet or that I am in love with. We like to honour family with middle names but typically a name that is a similar meaning or same letter or something that reminds us of someone. We often have a name in mind but wait until I see their faces to confirm. My husband's side is French Canadian and we are raising our children bilingual so I like having names that sound good in both languages which can be tricky sometimes!

pambee great names! You have a lot of good choices. DD2 is a sort of Margaret but a shortened french form of the name. Eames I love Beatrix and Clark!

I love the name Andrew. But, I hate the nicknames Andy and Drew. I would have to insist on the full name but I know people would shorten it.
Girl? That's hard. I no longer love the runner up name for my DD (Claire). I was unnamed for three days, if it's a second girl she may have a similar fate.

My daughter's name is more of a nickname but I knew that's what we would call her and I didn't like the idea of naming her something we would never use. This is our issue with Theodore, I love the full name but H likes Theo and I know he'd use that (along with many other people I'm sure) and I just don't think I like it.

My niece’s name is Cora pambee, so I like that name. H and I have talked about names over the years. Our favorite girl name is Rebecca. H actually had it picked out before we started dating. That was also my Cabbage Patch’s doll when I was little girl. It’s kind of meant to be I guess. H wants Rose as a MN for Rebecca (his grandmother’s name is Rosemary). My grandmother’s name was Mary, so I think Rebecca Rosemary would be cute. We have a long last name though, and I’m worried the three long names is too much. I’ve also been tossing around Rebecca Alaina, but I don’t love the A ending next to an A beginning. I love love Rebecca Charlotte, but H doesn’t like Charlotte. We like Wesley Ernest for a boy. Ernest is a family name on H’s side and his MN. We were planning on William Ernest. William would be after a family member, but we found out some things we didn’t like about that person. With William, the initials would have been WES, and we decided we liked Wesley as a name. We will still probably use Wes as a NN. We also like Judson Lee for a boy. We would call him Judd. Lee is a family name on my side (and my MN is Leigh), so I would like to keep that going. We definitely have to look at him/her before definitely choosing a name though.

My requirement is that it needs to have nickname options since as a kid I hated that my name couldn't be shortened at all. It has to be easily pronounceable, easy to spell, and not ruined by a former or current student.
My longtime favorites have been Charlotte, Elizabeth, Andrew and Alexander. H landed up suggesting DD's name randomly the week before we found out she was a girl, and it stuck. People actually don't shorten it yet, except for my sister because nephew can't say the entire name. (DD's name is Anastasia).
H threw out the idea that since DD's initials are A.B. possibly going with the initials C.D. and E.F. for the twins. I'm considering it (especially since my top two girls names have C and E!) But if they are boys then we're screwed lol

orangehibiscus I really like Ernest, I brought it up to H before and it was a hard no for him. It never even made it on my list, lol. bex15 Camille is so pretty. I like Miles too, it sounds like such a strong name. I knew a miles as a kid though who was...not my favorite though and I can't break the association. Charlotte is another one I've always liked, many of you mentioned it. It's on my list but H hasn't said much about it. Yogurt I love love Leroy.

Because of this thread I went on a search last night and was also looking at what I had for dd2. So far I am really liking Elise and Ada for girls and Sam and Luca for boys.
Question: how do you feel about Sam as a stand alone? Do you think they may want a more formal name as they grow up?

Ok so for girls I have: Brynn Thea Adeline Lena Talia (H has already nixed this name but I'm keeping it on my list just in case) Annette Perrie Avery
Boys:
Bode Owen Gabe (Gabriel) Gavin Riley (H likes this name but I have a girl Riley I'm very close with, so I'm not sure) Malachi Kian Cohen
DDs name is Grace and I don't know if we should do another G name? I don't want to be one of those families that super matchy, matchy.

I love talking names, but I haven’t even brought it up with H yet because it’s hard for him to take it seriously this early in my pregnancy. Of course, I already have a list on my phone.
Girl names: Sophie, Julia, Liana, Colette, Corinne
Boy names: Jude, Grant, Reid, Judson, Gabriel, Ben,

Anyone working on their name list? I know we have a ton of boys here, so I'm throwing my ideas out there.
DD has a longer name and nickname that could also be a solo name (Lill.ian/Li.ly), mostly goes by the nickname.
Clark Colin Charles (Charlie) Noel Jonah Daniel (Dan) Philip Miles Samuel (Sam) William (Liam) Jude Lucas (Luke)
My problem with boy names is that they either seem too trendy, or I already have a friend that has used the name, or I have bad associations with it (like an old boyfriend or jerk in high school, ha).
I like the idea of using different initials for each child.
For middle names, I like Joseph and Thomas for family reasons.

We're set on Henry Joe for this guy. Jo is my mn which is why I didn't want to use Joseph (which happens to be FILs mn, and I didn't want him thinking it was after him instead lol) but Jo/seph is kind of a family name on both sides so I liked it. Henry was just one we both liked. My top boy list was: Theodore (still a little sad I couldn't use this) Michael Benjamin Gavin Daniel James Logan Henry Carter And our girl list was: Margaret (*fav) Cora Julia Charlotte Scarlett Marie Quinn Penelope Kathleen Camille Louise Tegan Avery I can't remember if I shared all those upthread but I'm too lazy to go back and look. Eames Lucas/Luke was a top pick for H, but I couldn't love it for us. I do think it's a great name though. And H is a teacher and tried vetoing names because of kids he knew and I had to say noooo to that, or we'd never find a name haha. Yogurt I love love Leroy Ellis. lemondrop Maxwell Brian is my favorite! I love how they sound together.
