It's now 5:30 and M has been awake since 2am. This is the absolute worst.

I was going to let A sleep in, but at 5:45 M was running around destroying things and woke H and A up. I fell asleep on the couch and then the floor, watching them play... then settled in on the other couch and A took over.
Effffff.

I lost count how many times I was up with the baby last night. Both kids were wide awake early, so we are hanging out on the couch watching a movie. I need a nap, but it won't happen being Father's Day.

In the bath:
M: I licked C's hand!... And I put my finger in my butt!
Me: I, uh, Ok...

R caught this guy at the wedding reception last night. She was so thrilled with herself and that toad (or bullfrog?) that I couldn't help but smile.

We removed 2 snakes from our driveway today. They were hiding under a tarp.
And by we I mean I called my dad and got him to do it.
Two down...more to go.

I talked to my husband and thankfully he saw the common sense in not taking the kids on a 4 hour canoe trip. So we are planning a lake day next weekend where we can get in and out as needed. Turns out since there were thunderstorms on the forcast the place closed anyway so no one went.

My mil planned a several hour canoe river trip for father's day, and I seem to be the only person who sees potential issue with taking a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old in the canoe for that long on the river... the place even has a rule no children under 5, but since we have our own canoe I'm pretty sure dh will say it doesn't matter... I'm getting way too worked up over this, but I think I've decided I just have to say I'm staying home with the kids. I would love to take them canoeing on a lake, where we are close to shore in standing water and can get in and out as needed... am I crazy to be nervous about a four hour trip on moving water? Yeah no. I have a (almost) 1 year old and a 3 year old and I would not take them on a several hour canoe ride. My 3 yo would definitely not stay seated for that long and my 1 yo is too interested in moving on her own to stay contained. The canoe place has the age rule for a reason. Listen to it. Nope nope nope. No way that is safe for two kids that small. If that canoe flips (which I have done several times while canoeing over the years), on a river with moving water...

Spent all day yesterday at a soccer game and I'm still pretty exhausted. J's brothers came out (one of them is in town visiting from Ireland, the other from NY) and Nugget got to spend some time with her uncles. It was hot and humid, though, and we were all sweaty. Luckily we managed to avoid getting sunburned. Nugget barely napped all day, and thus was crazy and punchy at the end of the day, running around like a little Tazmanian devil by the time we got home and ate and got to bedtime. Surprisingly, she didn't go nuclear and cranky, just really hyper and giddy.

Spent the weekend in MI for my niece's graduation party.
We ended up getting there at 2am on Friday morning. Then I was up for the day around 7am to start cooking and watching 4 kids.
Party on Saturday, driving back on Sunday. Thankfully before we all fell down onto our butts on Saturday I had my sister get the baby stuff out and I now have clothing for this kid. Mostly gender neutral, but at least I have a start.
Sunday the drive wasn't bad until we hit Chicago. We left at 2pm and ended up home at 8:30.
