flamingo oh I'm so sorry. We are here if you need to vent. I wish you lived closer. Do you think some family might come out every so often to help? Probably not. My mom was just here and my parents already have flights booked here in November to babysit. My sister has brand-new baby and they are slammed this month with a couple trips of their own and BIL starting his new job. I...would not want help from my ILs, lol. I'll be fine...and really, I'm not (that) annoyed that he's going, just that it was so freaking last-minute. Even getting a heads-up on Friday would have been much better than this flurry of last-second stuff.

H has croup, a sinus infection and pink eye. He’s giving us cefdinir and a steroid. He did say to do a steam shower and then open up the freezer. My gosh. Poor H. I hope the meds help him feel better soon.

I too love a good purge. I go through toys usually twice a year but I’ve been trying to keep up with it this year. I have a rule that if Cs stuff can’t be contained in his closet, the living room closet and the basement bin then he has too much and it needs to be sorted. I try to go through clothes for him and I each season. That’s a little harder since I don’t always know what size he will be in.
I’m not a minimalist but I despise clutter and growing up military I learned not to hang on to stuff you don’t use.

I hope those steroids kick in quickly tgrimes. I wonder if he has a shitty immune system and if it’s worth looking more into. Although it has been a while since he got sick so maybe it’s just his bad luck.

I go through lo's toys twice a year and purge. Once after Christmas and once during the summer. For clothes I start getting rid of it as soon as I see it being too small. We kept most of LO's clothes and just got rid of the obvious boy ones (is Mommy's little man). Now as soon as LO outgrows something that E can't use its going out of the house.
I'm in the middle of purging out my closet. Once my clothes are contained I will move on to the other things in my house. The hardest part is getting rid of something with sentimental value to me (like anything from my grandparents).

Question: we’re starting with planning or USA trip (won’t be booking until January, because baseball). The thing that’s worrying us a little are the car seats... Option 1: bring our own, but this would entail a lot of hassle on the airport, juggling two kids, luggage (camping gear) and seats. Option 2: get the seats from the car rental company, but then have no idea what kind of seats we’d get. Last time we got a terrible one... so we bought a new one the next days and lugged the car seat from the rental company with us for four weeks. Option 3: buy new seats. We like the idea of this, but how would we get from the airport to the drop-off site/nearest walmart. Thoughts? ETA we’d either fly in to Boston and get the car straight away or Washington and stay in the city for a few days. Could one of you stay at the airport/rental place while the other ran to Walmart to buy the seats?

Now all this talk wants me to purge stuff. I have a lot of stuff that I don't even like. Random hand me downs that are taking up closet space. Maybe I'll go through it and purge that and save my favorites. Good tips on the sneakers, I may throw in the wash and see how they look and go from there. I kept basically everything from H to hand down, unless it was too stained or ripped then it got tossed. I have found that if it wasn’t something I liked that much with H then I probably won’t put it on S so I keep a bag in the closet and add too it as I go. Once it’s full I take it to savers.

The day went well, all the kids got along and allowed me to do a lot of house work while they played. The kids are finishing supper and then we are going to a local baseball game. H has been a little bit crabby this evening so hopefully I don’t regret it.

Does he need to stay home tomorrow? Yes. He still has a fever & I think I read with croup it’s at least 3 days. My MIL offered to stay home with home but I don’t want them to get sick before they go on vacation...again.

Although it has been a while since he got sick so maybe it’s just his bad luck. Our follow up for his last sickness was scheduled for tomorrow. Lol. I asked about seeing the allergist again and he said not yet. And this is the pedi that is all about the allergist so, I have no idea. He did say the plane probably caused the sinus infection though.

Sheesh tgrimes, y’all need a break. Poor H. Hopefully all this just means he will have the world’s best immune system as an adult and never be struck down by the dreaded man cold.

cagoldi and anyone else Didn’t y’all say you can give ibuprofen and Tylenol at the same time if the fever isn’t coming down? How often?

I am pretty good about pulling Chase's clothes when they start fitting poorly, though I admit that they sit in my room entirely too long, especially since I pass a Goodwill with amazing hours daily. Colin's get shoved in a bag and eventually the bag moves from his closet to Chase's. I need to get better about purging toys. With their age difference and odd personalities, they seem to play with everything at some point every weekend. Our only saving grace is that we rarely add anything new.

I just picked up Dexter from the groomers. They actually did his nails this time. While there, I discovered that pumpkin spice has invaded the pet food industry.

My coworkers flight was delayed so I had a relaxing night to myself. I went on a long walk, did BBM and got takeout. Now I’m going to read a book and go to bed early. A nice start to my trip!

I’m still in the hording phase. I hope we one day get a 3.0 and I also get very emotionally attached to things... My friends use me as their go to to borrow stuff, so my baby gear is currently everywhere which I like . I hope to one day pass it on to my sisters, this way it’ll be a soft goodbye for me. Oh lord just thinking about getting rid of all the baby gear is getting me all emotional, wth! And I'm here purging the hell out of my storage units and thinking "when the next one is 6 months, this can go.." Lol.

My parents are both border line horders so I am the complete opposite. I toss pretty much everything. My family thinks I'm heartless because I keep nothing even if a deceased relative gave it to me. *shrugs* they live in my heart not my stuff.
Swim was awful tonight. It was the last night so lots of fun stuff but J got done earlier than M and would not listen to save his life. So I pulled M early and we left. Ready to throw them in bed.. They go to the sitters all week except Friday so we can get a lot done while A is off. I'm loving the kid free time with A. We have been really connected lately and it's been fun.

Had a great relaxing day with mh. He is taking tomorrow off but I will let him tackle some chores. It was even nice enough for a walk around the neighborhood today.
