Up and at ‘em people! Lol. My Disney album is finished (I’m sure someone was concerned) so now it’s time tackle “throw away a bunch of shit while the girls are at school.” What’s on your to do list today?

We are on night six of wakeup almost every 2 hours and I'm so sooo tired.
I think we are going to move him to the crib tonight and start sleep training. There's so much info out there though I don't even know where to start. 🤢

I would work on the crib transition (it might be easier than you think) and then once that has settled down start sleep training. Both at once would be really nerve wracking for me, can't handle all that screaming.

Faith took an almost 3 hour nap in her crib yesterday afternoon, partially helped along by the fact she was boycotting naps yesterday morning. I took that opportunity to take a two hour nap myself and while it was glorious at the time I tossed and turned all night. Boo.
I think we are starting our version of sleep training now. A few nights we have put her down drowsy but awake and she just screams. We go in 1-2 times to put a paci in and then say screw it and turn the monitor volume off and let her cry it out. So I think we will do a max of one time going back into the room and then just let her figure it out on her own. At night she still wakes up for a bottle most nights, so I will do one wake up and feed her but then put her down and let her cry if she doesn't go back to sleep on her own. I'm tired of the up and down, up and down, up and down on nights where she wants to be held "just 'cause". Obviously if she is sick or teething I'll give her all the cuddles she wants.
We lowered the crib last night too. She pulls up quickly if she grabs our fingers (with no help from us) to a standing position so I think she will soon learn to pull herself up on furniture. I thought it was better to be prepared than to have her first time pulling up on something be the short crib rail that she catapults over. lol
I'm hoping today will be slow at work. I want to re-work my chore chart and get back in the habit of doing one cleaning thing each day along with the general pick up at night so that we don't have to spend hours at a time working on cleaning the whole house. I was in this habit about 3 years ago and it really did make a difference and I'm loving my new habit of tidying up at night before going to bed.

Monday again. I didn't pack a lunch, I'm almost out of gas and discovered that I left my wallet on my dresser. Only up from here, right?
DD has a cold and it's so hard to hear her so congested. I really hope she's feeling better tonight because the last few nights have been rough.

Morning! This is my first full 5 day working week in almost two months and I’m sort of dreading it.
T popped 2 of her first teeth over the weekend and slept a tiny bit better last night.
DD1’s second birthday was fun and he weather was great. I’m always relieved when the dust has settled and it’s done though.
Lots of leftover cake and pizza in my future 🤤 nomnomnom

We have the baby’s 6 month appointment today and while I love our pediatrician I’m dreading the appointnent. I weighed him at home this weekend and if it’s on the correct ballpark it means he’s pretty much fallen off of the growth chart. I’m scared of what they are going to say.

Hang in there, as long as he is otherwise doing great I'm sure it won't be too bad, they may just want you to start pushing solids and more food to increase his weight.

Hi! We just got home from a dr appointment for the baby’s helmet. He will have to wear it full time for 4 more weeks at least. This is not to do any more changes but to prevent regression. After that they will see how he does with part time which means only for naps and night time sleep. He is growing out of the helmet so he can’t wear it much longer anyway. Now I am home with both kiddos. G is watching trolls and the baby is not napping in the pnp. Lol

So I'm thinking we'll try getting him into more of a true bedtime routine (instead of falling asleep downstairs with DH after his bottle), and putting him into his crib "drowsy but awake" (that's the goal at least.) And then see what happens overnight? Lol. I'm scared!

Do you have the snoo in a bassinet or other containment device or is it in your bed? If it is in your bed I would probably start with the bedtime routine and crib transition first. Then after he gets used to that then work on the "sleep training" whatever that means in your world. Technically the bedtime routine and crib transition are "training the baby to sleep" but most of us use "sleep training" to mean some sort of cry it out to let them figure it out on their own. Good luck, you can do it!

Good luck pinkcat! We found the baby slept great once moving to the crib because he could roll around more and get comfortable. I have a ton of work to do this week but looking forward to it because my co-op student from hell is finally gone! I've probably had about 20 co-op students over the past 7 years and I had never met such a negative student before. i'm looking forward to not having the bad vibe at work any more and I'm pretty sure the rest of my employees feel the same way. The baby woke up at 1:30 for a full bottle and again at 5:30 for another one. It's probably been a month since he's done that. hoping it's just a growth spurt that doesn't last too long.

Thank you cake and aprilz81! And April yes the Snoo is in our bedroom still. He does most of his naps in the crib in his nursery and does nap pretty well, so I am hoping that the transition isn't TOO horrible. It's silly but I'm so sad to have him leave our room, I still love having him that close! If he were sleeping well I wouldn't be ready to try this at all but since he isn't sleeping well I guess it's time to move him

Faith rarely naps in her crib and that is something we need to work on. She naps best (longest) when she is being held and that is just not sustainable in the long run. We need to do better at putting her in her crib for naps or at least in the PnP which is now in the front room where she can't be stimulated by the tv/us talking.

pinkcat we moved DS2 to his crib after weeks of being up every few hours. It got to the point where H and I were falling asleep on our commutes so something had to change. Knock on wood he’s been a great sleep since. Like cake and he’s happy to have room to move around and get comfy. Plus I live being able to see his smiles when he wakes up compared to him always screaming when he woke up because he wasn’t sleeping well.

Hi! We’re on vacation!
I have to list everything that has gone wrong so far, because frankly it’s almost comical.
So the 6 hour drive on Saturday took over 9 hours because we took extra stops in an attempt to appease the screaming baby. Ok, to be expected. She hates the car. We skipped dinner because we got in too late.
The next morning we were supposed to drive 20 minutes to get to our ferry boat on time. 20 minute drive took 2 1/2 HOURS, because there was a race happening that morning. We literally drove 1 mile in 1 hour. During this hellish crawling, while we missed our boat, DD1 threw up in her car seat. Twice.
We get to the house (it’s my grandparents’ property that the rest of the family shares) and at bedtime H discovers Internet is not set up (problem because he has to work). During a long call with Verizon trying to sort it out, my dad discovers that the kitchen sink is leaking into the basement. While he’s fixing that I find piles of sunflower seeds inside the sheets in the kids room. As in, a creature has been camping out in the beds and munching. And we hear some squeaking that is unclear whether it’s coming from mice or just the old bunk bed moving.
So anyway. Chaos!! Luckily we have the inflatable toddler bed that we set DD1 up in another room. But now my parents have to go out and buy new mattresses for the kid beds, which is not how anyone wants to spend their vacation.

Today is my last Monday before I start work. I think I’m ready to get back into a routine. Im super sad to be leaving the baby though. I’m super anxious about it but I know she will be fine. I think if I was doing what I’ve done for the past few years I’d feel better, but the district is pushing co- teaching, and I’ll be split between two rooms so I’m not looking forward to it.
We also need to get the baby sleeping in her crib. I moved DS at 4 months, but a combination of her being the last baby and also DS being loud in the mornings and her room being so close to his, has made me reluctant to do it. I think I’m going to try tonight and see how it goes. I’m hoping to have her adjusted and sleeping like she has been before I go back to work. We will see.

tiffbabey does she normally wake up with a lot of noise? The boys have a shared wall and unless someone is literally screaming in one of their rooms they don’t hear each other at all.

Omg bassa, sorry for the rough start to your vacation! I hope things only get better from here! Thank you for the happy anecdote kbw! I'm hoping DS just wants more room and this transition isn't too rough! I agree aprilz81...it's so tempting to just hold them for naps when they are this little. I miss getting all of the newborn snuggles where we didn't have to worry too much about sleep habits yet!

I know if I hold her I can usually get 1-2 hours in myself, so I'm very much part of the problem.

NCU So my doctor emailed me back about my anxiety. She said it is likely either my reglan or PP anxiety. We are cutting my Reglan in half for 2 weeks and she wants me to start doing more me time, meditation, etc to try and help. If lowering that doesn't work she's going to start me on anxiety med temporarily. I already broke down crying because I don't want to lose ounces from lowering my dose. I keep telling myself a healthy mind is more important but... struggling.

Hang in there and remember that there is no shame or harm in using formula if needed. We are here for you!

Add me to starting sleep training for real this week. Thursday will be the day for us so I'll be reporting back after that! I am leaning towards full extinction from the beginning. I find the intermittent reinforcement of Ferber to not really be good for anyone!! (But completely understand those that use it!)
