I am so excited to see my sister and my nephews! I haven't seen them for almost 2 years now. DS is also excited and has been asking everyday if it is Friday yet. This past Monday was my birthday and DS didn't have school so after putting lil fella down for his nap in the afternoon, DS and I went to get some cupcakes and had some ice-cream and spent some mommy and DS time - it was really nice. It was a fabulous start to the week and a nice start to DS first week of Pre-K. So far the teachers said he's been having a fabulous week. Hoping he'll end his week well tomorrow. I am contemplating making a cake for myself this weekend but will have to see what plans my sister has. I'll be making Malaysian chicken rice tomorrow for dinner as they'd be arriving around dinner time so will be busy tomorrow since hubs will be fetching them and I'll be dealing with the 2 kiddos in the evening and trying to make dinner and squeezing bath time before my sis arrives. Hoping their flight will be on time or I'd have a couple of hangry and tired kiddos.

doodlemommy Oh my! I didn't realize that there was so many active wildfires around BC! I'll need to check in with my aunt and cousin tomorrow. I didn't think it was dry enough but now that I think of it, I've never been there during the summer months. I hope the area gets rain and the fires are contained. This is so awful along with all the fires in CA and Washington

We are having a fabulous Friday over here. DS1 had his orientation this morning at the “big school” for pre-K. We love his teacher, and the school is absolutely amazing. I think he will have a great year there! We’ll miss his nursery school for sure, but it’s also exciting to see DS1 try new things and gain independence.
It’s also happy hour at Starbucks today, so my secretary and I are going to take advantage of 2 for 1 Frappuccinos 😋

Our Friday is starting out good, too! LO slept great after a really horrible night the night before. This evening I'm taking a teething baby and a toddler who doesn't understand he can't be on the field with Daddy to the Football Jamboree. I don't know what I'd do without my ILs, they go to every game possible and help me so much with the boys.

DS got to school on time! And I got to work early so, bonus!
I can’t believe our babies are almost 1. Though I am excited to stop pumping milk at work.
I guess we will have to give her some kind of milk like substance during the day. The special formula she would need is like $50 a can so that is a big fat no. Will have to ask the pedi about almond milk or something. Anyone else with dairy sensitive babies have input?
Also what to do with my pump, hopefully I can give it away to someone who could use it?

Also what to do with my pump, hopefully I can give it away to someone who could use it? You can since all the parts that touch your breastmilk are disposable. The new owner will just have to order replacement parts, which since you have a Spectra is a little more complicated than if you had a PISA or something but still very doable. Edit : Disposable wasn't the right word. Replaceable?

H starts his new job today, which is exciting and sad at the same time. Sad because I no longer have any help during the day, I was for sure spoiled during his 4 weeks off!
I have to sleep train with E again. Its so exhausting and I'm completely over it, why can't she just sleep? The cat had me up at midnight last night. E was up at 2 and then again at 6. H's alarm went off at 6:30 and E decided she was done in her crib at 7. So overall, I got shit sleep. I'm crabby.

bootsorhearts1 DS1 had dairy milk intolerance until he was about 1 yr old. We gradually tried introducing cow’s milk just after he turned 1 and he was fine. Our doctor said most babies grow out of the milk intolerance around 1 or so. We also did almond milk while figuring things out. I hope your LO grows out of it, and if not, I hope you can find a non- dairy alternative that works well for your baby.

bootsorhearts1 FFCF? we just never did milk after 1 with DD1. She nursed at home till like 15 months but otherwise now drinks lots of water. She has never liked it and still doesn’t tolerate it well as a drink. We just make sure she gets yogurt or cottage cheese or other sources of dairy and don’t really give it another thought. Every year daycare does ask for a note from our doctor because our state law says they have to offer milk at her meals. Her pedi isn’t concerned about the no milk thing so we aren’t either. H and I are not milk drinkers either. We live in a small town so milk alternatives are hard to come by here which is why we didn’t really pursue anything beyond almond milk (which she wasn’t thrilled with)

Rainy Friday here. I hope it clears up so DD1 can go to the last day of little cheerleaders camp at the football game tonight. DD2 will love watching everyone at the game (plus it will help keep her awake past her super-early-self-imposed bedtime).
It’s pizza day at school so Im buying. The pizza hasn’t changed since anyone’s elementary years - still rectangular shape and all - but they offer fresh veggies and fruits too. Truly the pizza isn’t that bad. 😜

We barely did milk after 1 with DD. Like, we offered but she didn’t like it and drank like a few sips a day so I was dumping it all. I nursed her until 18 months so 🤷♀️ We just made sure she had yogurt and/or cheese every day and she was fine. She drinks almost exclusively water still now at almost 4. We will do the sAme with DS. My pedi supported us and said that as long as they are getting the nutrients in diet there is no need for cows (or alternative) milk

We don't do cows milk either. I pumped past his first birthday (on a reduced schedule) and when I cut out that last pumping session I used up all the frozen stash, and then we were done. He drinks water exclusively but gets plenty of yogurt, cheese, etc. I plan to do the same with LO.

Ok this is helpful. For those who didn’t do milk after 1 though, how do you get these kids to nap??? My FFFC, my older kid had bottles of formula to help him sleep at night and nap time until he was 3. 😬
This one takes a bottle or nurses to help her get sleepy. I guess we need to try and kick that habit at least at nap time but it’s terrifying to think about.

With DD1, I nursed to sleep until I dried up.... which I’m fairly certain is how DD1 learn to stop nursing to sleep. I basicallly weaned by cutting out all the nurse sessions (slowly, over the course of a couple months or so) and then she kind of fussed off and on for a few nights when trying to nurse she wasn’t getting much. We did replace nursing with singing songs and rocking a little bit (not to sleep but enough to cuddle). I honestly don’t know what I’ll do with DD2 in this regard because with DD1 I was trying to get my cycle back so we could TFAS. I would love a 3rd (H is still unsure) so I may just keep nursing to sleep for a long time at this rate 😳

Sounds like everyone is having a fabulous Friday. duskymonkey Happy belated birthday! We had our appointment for DD2 at the allergist and she barely reacted to the skin test so great news is I can feed her eggs again. I have an epipen just in case but the dr was confident she would grow out of it. Her most severe reaction was to uncooked but it was barely a reaction at all!

I'm not sure i have something fabulous today. DS2 woke up 4 times last night and would not settle without nursing. We were going to walk to the pharmacy to refill my birth control, but i couldn't get the double stroller to unfold so we drove. I forgot my insurance card with my member number and my birth control was out of stock, so we had extra wait time while they found me in the system and okayed a substitution. Then DS1 lost DS2's stuffed bunny while we were there. I'm debating if i care enough to go back and get it after nap. I don't think i do, but it is so close that i feel guilty not putting forth that tiny bit of effort even though it's been in the trunk of my car for months and not missed at all.

@trinotrotoluene solidarity, mine was up about 4 times last night too. I hope it’s a tooth and once it breaks through she’ll be back to normal. Normal being waking up once, but hey I’ll take it.

Well, it's not done yet (because reasons, I guess) but I got sick of it looking like a construction zone so I fixed it all up with what we have. And what we have is 1 cat tree and a rug lol. Someday soon, I hope to have some outdoor furniture.

Girl, 1 wake up sounds like paradise. I'd even take 2 with joy. I don't think he's teething, i just think he's being a jerk. We go through great phases for a week or two, then horrible ones where he is up every 2-3 hours if I'm lucky. This last one was set off the last weekend in July when we stayed with my ILs over night. I don't want to sleep train because i don't want to wake up big brother, but I'm definitely debating it.

We slept in a tent camping and DS was up eleventy times a night. By some miracle DD slept through it 🤷♀️

Pretty sure DS is working on tooth #5. The drooling and the whining today have been really something. And he wouldn’t eat supper 😳 Kid normally loves all the food. I managed to get some fruit/veggie pouch and yogurt in him but ended up with just a long nursing session and early to bed. I hope he sleeps ok 😬

And if he does wake up, it's 1.5 hours to get him back to sleep on average. I'm thinking about sending DS1 and DH for a weekend with my in-laws next week so i can at least get the start on sleep training.
