bridge, we were just on vacation with my in laws. We ended up telling them because we drink a lot, but the first night I just accepted beers then either poured some out when no one was looking, or had my H quick chug some. We told them later that night after my daughter was asleep. (I'm not ready for her to tell everyone because 3 year olds can't keep secrets!) For me, it's less supicious if I just accept drinks than if I make up an excuse for not drinking. No one thinks twice. It feels wasteful, but meh. I did it at a work party too - once my drink was half empty (down the drain) I just pretended to sip it. Lots of mingling, so no one would notice that it wasn't going down.

bridge I don't think it's silly not to want them to know yet. We told my parents last night and my mom was already looking at me differently (not in a mean way, more of an obsessive way 😂) today and I was already getting annoyed. I say hide it as long as you want! And as pp said, pretending you are drinking is usually easier to get away with than refusing.
