This is pretty funny-
Omarosa has tea on Trump being racist, sexist insulting disabled people, Ashley Nicole states, yes we can all DVR CNN.

All of the world heard the "pussy grab" tape and he's still President.
This will change nothing, probably make some of his base raise up more with their racism.

I'm firmly on the bench of "no shit, he's been saying this stuff in public forever".
I'm also confused as to why anyone would be surprised. The man is consistently a racist, classist, sexist, ableist, bigoted, etc. person. He has never tried to hide any of that... it's his fucking value prop.

And honestly, I’m not even sure if she had recordings of him actually doing something illegal that it would matter to his base

The racial slurs are suggested to have been used during The Apprentice. But she has been saying for a year she has alllllllll the receipts. TV, campaign, White House. The idea of people having the receipts and not immediately disclosing them is so infuriating to me. Not surprising, but infuriating. Gotta get that book deal and $$$$$$

I am just over here cracking up at the notion of my friend opening a surprise Amazon box and seeing that cover. 😂 It would totally make my day. You're a good friend. I ordered it for myself. I don't even really like mysteries, but I intend to casually have it laying out whenever certain people are at my house. Petty and passive aggressive, party of one.

I am incredibly curious about legality of this whole thing. Is it seriously legal to bring a tape recorder into the White House? In meetings with the President? I mean, I'm not really complaining if she really does have audio of him being a racist twatwaffle, but as a general rule it seems like that shouldn't be allowed. I’m not certain that random aides can bring in recorders, but I’m also fairly confident that quite a few of the people Trump brought in followed his lead and did not take any legal/ethics training they might have been offered seriously. This is not a knock on Omarosa specifically, but members of the Trump administration in general. All said and done, the legality of recording those conversations will likely be the least illegal thing to come from all of this.

... so my 7 yr old was overhearing part of a ted talk about the death of black women at (much) higher rates and he asked me later on about why black people are dying of diseases(every 11 minutes) and I explained about some people not being able to go to the doctor and so on... so then it led to.. "Why does Donald Trump want to take away peoples insurance"(very alarmed) and we had a moment. I wanted in those minutes to protect him from that awful information, bad pedal, explain it away but yet. there is it is. I did some talking around the every 11 minutes part. because that is just too confusing. But the sad confusing reality that we all don't have the same access and injustice is a real part of our world. Any books. recommendations about tackling social justice issues with kids? He was truly frightened at the thought of people dying - and the way it was worded, did mean to alarm and educate, but most definitely not in the way he needs. Hes ready for more than Donald trump is bad because... but not ready to take on anything really about death. For one thing hes very terrified right now about losing me, so anything too realistic, too graphic, is going to scare and not galvanize him.

sherminator I'm sorry your little guy is upset. I wish I had some book recs. But your post made me realize that I want to find some good books to address social justice issues with my 5 yo DD. She and I have had some very basic conversations about race and gender discrimination but I need to do more.

I can’t remember which one I got for DD1 to start with, but it fell flat. I figured I would try again soon.

This is amazing and hilarious.
The DNC's lawyers set up a Twitter account and served Wikileaks by tweet.

Biographies can be a great jumping off point (like The Who Was series) for discussions about different issues people face and have faced.

I don’t have any specific recs, but the bookstore at Busboys and Poets carries a number of children’s books that are really good for this stuff.

Chiming in to say Mighty Girls has my recommendation as well. I’m sorry your little is having a tough time sherminator. I have a pretty empathetic one too and I keep reminding her that even though it’s seems as if everybody is terrible there ARE still good people. Look at what LeBron has done. If you can try to find some other players that have done remarkable things in your area and highlight those too. Locally to me, the community really pulled together after a tragedy in our immigrant community. We talk about how and what we can do to be a good person.

sherminatorI just saw this one in my library today. Something Happened in Our Town Something Happened in Our Town describes a traumatic event—a police shooting—from the perspective of a White family and an African American family. This story models productive conversations around racial-ethnic socialization and social-emotional learning, and provides an excellent platform for discussing social justice and race relations with children. Includes a “Note to Parents and Caregivers” with conversation guides, child-friendly vocabulary, and lists of related resources. www.amazon.com/Something-Happened-Our-Town-Injustice/dp/1433828545
