Tonight is the anniversary party. DS1 has been so whiny all day, I don’t have high hopes for this evening. He told me he never gets to have fun. Well, maybe if you didn’t throw a tantrum and make us leave/stop everything, you’d have more fun.

cythe, Hoping the worst is over i.e. high fevers. They are the scariest and I can never sleep myself when the kids run fevers. Worries the heck out of me.

curmudgeon, totally the same where with DS. I never had a chance to reply to your thread. Are you going with baby and leaving DS1 with your MIL? I am a total schedule nazi but will cut some slack if it's the weekend and it's a special ocassion. It's starts early right? Just for family sake, I would go for just a little while - heck even 30 mins will suffice and assuming it isn't terribly far away.

We are taking both kids because I told DS1 there was cake, wearing the baby if he gets miserable, and leaving at 8 at the latest. Unless cake hasn’t been served, then I may stretch it. I also plan to drink a lot of wine so maybe I won’t care if it’s miserable.

We are crawling everywhere now and pulling up on all the things! Got a couple of tiny bumps since I last posted but nothing to be worried about. I've also managed to sort of figure out and sort DS and baby's toys in the cabinets. I still can't decide if I should move some toys into DS' room yet. I like that we only have books there and it's a quiet place for him. We're also playing bib roulette during meal time. Lil fella started pulling and yanking his bib and throwing it onto the floor. Meh! so I started putting on 3 layers of bib on him haha! Another thing that;s keeping me busier is lil fella leaves a trail of carnage now that he's mobile. So. much. mess! to pick up. Do you guys like leave the mess for the day and just pick up at the end of the day? I feel like we could use a poll. Maybe I'll see if I can figure out how to do one tonight. Ladies with mastitis CoachTsWife rebeccabunch Taitai...all better now...I sure hope so. I hate getting them.

duskymonkey for toy messes, it depends on if it’s making me twitchy with everything all over the house. And it usually is, so I tidy up during naps. But then there’s days like today where we have been in and out and I’m tired so the mess has stayed for most of the day.

We left the party at 8:30 and everything was fine. I didn’t wear the baby but my mom took him in a corner and rocked him. DS1 had the best time dancing. Some little girl tried to get him to dip her and he was so confused. There was an Elvis impersonator that was really good. I’m dizzy off one glass of wine. And a cousin told me I looked tired as soon as I walked in. Which, whatever. She was wearing a shirt with dirt and holes (literally. Her boyfriend pointed it out to her). I’d rather look tired than dirty.

I’d rather look tired than dirty. It sounds like you had a nice time! (Aside from the cousin). Glad it all worked out 😊 duskymonkey Thanks for asking about the clog/mastitis situation! The right side is all better, but then yesterday I woke up with my left side clogged! Ughhhhh. It ended up being a bleb that was causing the clog. Once I popped that sucker (ouuuuch), all better! I must have eaten something that made my milk too thick. Maybe it was pizza. Either way - let’s hope for no more problems in the future!! cythe Sorry about the HFM diagnosis. Does E have blisters on her hands and feet, or is it just in the mouth? DS1 had herpangina (HFM only in the mouth) back in June. It sucked and he was super cranky for a few days, but then he got back to his normal self relatively soon. Loooots of water/fluids helped. I hope E’s case is mild!

On the way home from my cousins wedding, I had a whole 4-5 drinks and my step father is doing the driving. It was a nice wedding but I’m ready to get to sleep since the kids don’t sleep in.

Taitai so far it's only in her mouth. Doc said if hands or feet spots were going to pop up for her, they would do so yesterday or maaaybe today. Today she has no external spots so I assume it will stay that way. I think her fever broke. She wasn't running any high temps overnight at all so fx that part is done.

cythe That’s good it seems to be limited to the mouth - I hope it stays that way! I have heard the sores in the mouth/back of throat are really painful. DS1 only wanted soft foods and gentle (non-acidic) liquids while he had it. Milk and water were big hits, along with bananas and chicken noodle soup. Hope you get through this quickly and that it’s a mild case. At least with the blisters only being in the mouth, it’s easier to contain the virus from others. I’ve heard when there are open blisters on hands/feet - it’s super difficult.

H decided to clean out the attic today. If anyone remembers, we bought this house from his parents and they never removed their stuff. It’s so full, we hardly have room to put our boxes of holiday decorations up. So I’m really glad it’s getting done, but feel bad for H having to do it when it’s already 90 out and the attic is the hottest place ever.
We have a detached garage with an attic, too, and that one is also full. It will probably take 2-3 weekends to get that cleaned out.

Everyone slept in until 7:30 today... except mom 😑 DD2 got up to nurse like normal around 4:45 but wouldn’t stop aggressively nursing as long as I laid there so H took her and I showered. She has started sucking harder and at times biting and I am sore for it. Hopefully she gets her teeth in or over it or whatever soon.
Just putting the finishing touches on my class today. Teachers are to report tomorrow so I think H and I will take the girls out tonight for ice cream as a last hoorah.

Random rant - why in 2018 do we still have some kid show merchandise that marketts exclusively for boys or exclusively for girls?!?!!!! DD1 is obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. We have watched all the movies, any episodes that are On Demand, read the books, own the toys... but heaven forbid I try to buy a piece of clothing for her because there is none to be found. I am not a fan of character clothing at all (I’m not sure she currently owns any right now even) but she wants Thomas jammies for after her tonsil surgery so I’m glad I started looking. She really won’t care if it’s blue or red but sheesh. Surely my kid is not the only girl out there with a parent who’s willing to cough up $$$ for some not-quite-so gendered Thomas merchandise?!?!!!!

A good friend of mines daughter absolutely loved Thomas as well. She loved trains and all the heavy machinery to go with it. I truly cannot believe you two are the only ones!

I guess my kid is going to sleep with broccoli. At bath time she smiled at me and it was like a broccoli version of the orange smile. So I dug that piece out. Laid her down to splash and what have you... another broccoli smile. Dig that out. Finally I'm drying her off and STILL ANOTHER PIECE OF BROCCOLI.
So now I'm at a 12 worrying about somehow yet more broccoli being a choke hazard.

Anyone else have a baby who must have something to hold in their hand while nursing? LO likes to play with the silk tag of an A&A burpy bib.

Guys, selfish question. I know I'm supposed to be mostly concerned with E getting better but I'm quite worried about her sleep once she gets over this sick business. She wasn't the world's most amazing sleeper before and now shes waking 2-3 times a night while sick.
Will she just go back to what she was sleeping or will there be more nighttime tears in my future?

DS1 was the worst and would always try to twist my nipple on the other side! He was so persistent about it too. 😩

Hard to say, and I think it’s kid dependent. For my kids, if they are sick, sleep gets screwed up for the duration of the sickness, and for a week or two after. I know it’s not like that for everyone though! My nephews are pretty resistant in similar situations. Hope E gets back on track quickly!!

I started giving him a burp cloth to hold and now he searches for it with his free hand each time until I give it to him. lol

But every so often she pulls it, and of course it can't be a big chunk of hair. No, it has to be like 3 strands. Ouch kid!
