cythe I hope E is feeling better and that her fever has subsided. Poor thing. I’m impressed that you got to 9/10 months before the first fever though! 👏 H and I had our date night last night. We went to see Mission Impossible: Fallout, and it was really, really good. Highly recommend. Minimal CGI, awesome stunts, and all the actors were great. I love Simon Pegg - I’m so glad he continues to be in the series. We even had time to grab a tasty dessert at one of our favorite restaurants before the movie started, yay! This weekend we have a play date with our new neighbors. They have a daughter who is 1 yr younger than DS1, and they are expecting a baby in the fall. They will be living here for the next 4 years and seem really nice - I hope we (and the kids) can become good friends! They live across the hallway, so it would be soooo convenient to have new friends close by.

Currently nursing DD2 before daycare. Anyone else’s baby do acrobatics while nursing? She tries to crawl, roll, and explore while nursing. She’ll push herself up, look around, then dive back to keep nursing. DD2 preferred cradle hold the entire 15 months we nursed. I don’t even think DD2’s positions have names.

Well guys, first fever sucked ... a lot.
Let's just say I went to bed not owning both tylenol and motrin, but I do now. Thankfully the CVS near me is open 24 hours a day because E woke at 11:45 and then cried and screamed until 2 when I went to the store so I could get her some motrin to fill the gap.
When I got home she got motrin and after some cuddles, she went to sleep when I put her down. Ugh.

cythe Oh man, so sorry about the bad night. It’s good that you have Motrin now though. My kids respond much better to Motrin than to Tylenol for some reason. I hope E improves as the day goes on! danvers LO also squirms while nursing sometimes - he’ll quickly turn his head if he hears something and tries to take me along with him. Oooooowie. I basically have to nurse him in a dark, quiet place with no distractions now, because I know he won’t sit still to eat if anything else remotely interesting is happening around him. 😩

Motrin works so much better for us with both girls and fevers but we have totally done the run to Walmart at 11 thing too. I hope E gets over this quick!

Second the Motrin. You can do Tylenol every 4-6 hours and Motrin every 6-8 hours on their own schedules. Even if that means giving them only one hour apart. Whatever works to keep the fever down at night so everyone can sleep. 👍🏻
Baby had an awful night. She was up half the night crying and had stinky toots. I think she got some dairy by accident 😞
On the plus side yesterday she had. 2 hour morning nap and then a 2.5 hour afternoon nap. Wish I could sleep like that!
This weekend I need to do some scouting for an outdoor venue for 1 year photos! That and getting caught up on sleep is what’s on the agenda.

+10000000 to Motrin. Tylenol basically does nothing for me or my kids, Motrin is where it’s at. This might be crazy but DD will be 4 in a month and has never had a fever, DS hasn’t yet either (knock on wood). It actually blows my mind because I work with preschoolers so I’m bringing home all the germs. DD starts preschool herself in the fall so we’ll see what happens!

We are leaving for camping this afternoon and it is currently pouring rain 😬 Thankfully we are camping about 3 hours from home and the weather looks ok there. DS woke up about an hour early this morning and after snuggling/playing/whining for an hour went back to sleep on me for another hour. While this is good now our schedule is out of whack. I just put him down for morning nap an hour later than usual. I’m hoping for a close to normal time for afternoon nap otherwise I’m going to have to wake him to go pick up DH from work to go camping!

danvers This kid is a nursing acrobat. Since she won’t sit still sometimes I will nurse her standing and I’ll be sitting on the couch and just lean over. Then she’ll go off and do her thing. I’m not sure what that position is called? And I think it only works when you have sad floppy breastfeeding boobs. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow solo and it’s a holiday on Monday, so 3 day weekend for my husband. He is going to stop at the Chinese grocery store on the way home so I’m interested to see what we are going to have for dinner.

I am going round and round with someone at work and I want to scream. They are new and not checking things before they send them to me and not getting it when I explain what’s wrong/missing. Is it 5 yet?

Ladies with dairy intolerant kiddos, when do they grow out of it? It’s maddening.

I have done many late night runs for medicine. Get some benadryl too, then you are covered for all baby contingencies.
I forget that i have one of the younger babies on the board, so i was reading about all the separation anxiety and thinking that we had skipped that. Nope. It has come hard. Screams and drama every time i put him down.

E is still struggling today. I called the pedi (because she needed to get in for her 9 mo shots and now seemed as good a time as any to find a pedi) and they had me bring her in. She was 101.8 medicated at the doc and by time we got home she read 105 on my forehead thermometer.
No surprise to anyone, its nothing they can figure out. Maybe early Roseola? They did a finger prick blood test to see if it was maybe a UTI since we were heading into the weekend but her blood came back normal. They told me to keep her hydrated, keep medicating and give them a call in the morning with a little status update. Right now its being called "unknown viral infection" which is no surprise to me. I just hope insurance covers it so I dont have to pay out the booty for them to tell me its nothing they can treat.

Oh cythe I’m so sorry! 105 can be scary so I’m glad she was able to be seen. Hopefully she can get some rest tonight and it breaks.

cythe fevers are the worst. They usually only last a couple of days though so hopefully you’re in the tail end of it. Poor baby!

cythe How scary. DS1 had roseola and had a crazy high fever for a day or two. It sucked, but we got through it. Don’t be surprised if she breaks out in a rash all over her body (starting in the trunk area) after the fever goes away. The rash didn’t bother DS1 at all, but it freaked me out when it happened!

Oh man cythe, I'm sorry. I hope E is on the mend today. We're dealing with something here too with DS2. He had s mild fever yesterday, then was burning up all night. I've been alternating tylenol and ibuprofen which has helped a little. He's down for his morning nap now and I'm going to take a snooze too because I was up.all.night. AND at like 3am DS1 came in our room saying he couldn't pee because his penis hurt?? Wtf. H took him in the bathroom and just like calmly talked to him and he peed. Then he slept in our bed. So I went and slept in his. Penis is fine now so....I don't know. I was slightly panicking about a uti or something 🤷♀️

The baby was home all week with a fever and then Thursday the fever went away and he had a rash so I’m thinking it was roseola. The rash lasted a day and didn’t bother him and he’s back to his normal self. Hopefully this is what it is, cythe and the fever will only last a couple of days.

Ugh cythe so sorry. When DD1 had it they had us try to give the Tylenol or Motrin 30 minutes before a meal to help make it easier to eat or drink. Maybe some breastmilk ice pops if the mouth sores seem to bother her? Is your H home to help take snuggle and rest shifts with her? DD1 did not sleep well when she had HFM. I hope the sores stay mild and she is over this quick!!!!

Thankfully the meds take her temp from 105 to ~99/100 range so she is able to sleep at night. Doesnt help ME to sleep at night wondering whats going on in her little body.
