DD has started rolling from back to tummy. Unfortunately, she somehow skipped the initial step of learning to roll from her tummy to her back. She also doesn't seem to understand the concept of putting her head to the side when on her tummy.
Last night she woke us up because she was on her tummy in the crib. When DH got her she was face down and she cried really hard once he picked her up. Now I'm paranoid we need to check on her for every noise because she isn't very loud when her face is up against the mattress.
Other than doubling down on tummy time so she can handle herself, anything I can do to prevent her from rolling in the crib?

Mine did this too at first when he started rolling. It was short-lived, maybe a couple weeks, then he figured it out. I'm squicky about putting anything else in the crib because it's been drilled through my skull. I'd keep up with the tummy time and practice putting toys on the sides of her to encourage movement. I hope she gets the hang of it soon!

She'll get the hang of it. We did it, too. I want to say it was less than 3 weeks before he learned to roll belly to back- he would roll over to sleep then wake up angry that he was stuck on his belly. He's been a belly sleeper ever since
I would ramp up tummy time so she learns to turn her head but don't be surprised if she starts sleeping on her belly from here on out.
I don't know about adding anything as we just went in whenever he fussed and rolled him back over

Same as everyone else! Don't worry too much about it. You might have a few rough nights but hopefully she'll figure out that she enjoys sleeping on her tummy. We ended up letting her cry a bit more when we put her down or when she woke up on her tummy, instead of just instantly rolling her back over, and she's been really into sleeping on her side or tummy ever since.

A is 8.5 months old and she's still not a fan of rolling belly to back. Rather than do that, she just pushes herself up into a sitting position. She learned back to belly first and while she eventually learned how to roll from belly to back, she never really did it often at all.
All that to say...she'll learn.

Thanks all! I'll try be have more chill and let her figure it out. She is enjoying side sleeping it seems, so that's good.
