I would like to upgrade my Cricut machine (Explore Air) to the Maker but it just isn't in the budget right now. I'm thinking of making some crafts to sell to raise money but I'm drawing a blank. I have a sewing machine and basic sewing skills and a Cricut.
I've sold wood signs before but they were labor intensive with all of the customization, not to mention the wood prep (sand, stain, poly) so I would rather not go that route again.
Maybe glass etching for custom bar glasses? I'm just not great with coming up with ideas...

Hmm, custom bar glasses sound fun and profitable; either serious (like, monogrammed or "The Johnsons, est 1985", etc) or geeky (Lord of the Rings, Firefly, etc).
Can you do iron on transfers with the cricut? That would open up things like personalized t-shirts, or you could sew reusable shopping bags and then personalize them, or label each according to what should go in them (like, one for Fruit, one for Veg, one for Eggs/Dairy, etc to stop baggers from shoving everything together).

I can do iron on, but the material is expensive which means I would have to charge more and then it opens up a whole world of customization to where it would be a pain to order shirts (specific size and color) and iron on material to do what they want. I might limit it to custom onsies or just have a few designs to choose from to keep it simple. I've done some custom bar glasses for a white elephant party and they were a huge hit. I did a set of four wine glasses (Dollar Tree) one had a hammer with the text "Hammered", one a wrecked car "Smashed", a garbage truck "Trashed" and an Army tank "Tanked". It was a small group but it was the most stolen gift and the husband of one person who got it stolen from even asked me to do a set for his wife for Christmas. I might have $5 in materials in a set of 4 and takes me less than an hour (minus any custom design work)... I could probably sell them for $20. I'm motivated to earn some extra cash, but not so motivated to do a ton of work. lol I might have better luck selling some extra stuff on local BST sites.

Maybe custom birthday and party banners? You could buy the premade blank flag banners from Target or Michaels and then cut letters for them.
I make key fobs for people as gifts and people seem to really like them. I use marine vinyl on one side and fabric on the other and cotton on the other backed with SF101 interfacing. You could also use two layers of fabric, or one layer of fabric and 1" ribbon. Basically you cut a 12x2 strip each of vinyl and fabric, then fold the edges in to make two 1 inch strips with the edges on the inside and topstitch the two together to make a strap. Then stitch the ends together and put on keyfob hardwear (I use pliers with a piece of felt so it doesn't damage the metal.

I've made some for us and they are pretty easy. I would make the banner out of card stock too, probably cheaper than buying the blanks.
