Today is the last full day of our vaycay (we head home tomorrow)- it’s been fun, and we’re just chilling at the hotel DH ordered some sushi for lunch, and baby is napping on my lap while DS1 swims. I don’t want to go back to normal life after this weekend!
LO loooves swimming. PDQ - here is a pic of him after getting out of the pool. So happy!

rebeccabunch I was thinking about your post from a few days ago, and I remembered getting really anxious about the solid food and unswaddling transitions too. It will turn out okay - but going through it sucks. We had a good 2-3 months where it was a challenge for DS2 to sleep, and he wasn’t really into solids all that much. Now, things are better again - so just hang in there! I was miserable for a while though - esp with the sleep. I thought LO would never stop punching himself awake! How are the big kids doing? More interested in their baby sis? duskymonkey How is lil fella doing after his spill? Okay I hope! curmudgeon When do you start your new job? Any luck on the shopping? Post pics/links so I can live vicariously through you! cythe Is your H getting more comfortable being solo with the baby? How much longer before his next trip away?

Taitai I wouldn’t want to leave that vacation either! We spent Friday at the zoo. It was so much fun. We paid a ridiculous amount for one of those unlimited ride passes for the carousel and train and whatnot. DD1 ended up trying this mini roller coaster with H and loved it. She was just at the 38” requirement and ended up going like 6+ times. DD2 just loved the people watching. Today H is at a golf fundraiser so I’ve got the girls solo all day. We need to get all the daycare supplies around for Monday and finish cleaning the house.

Long ass morning over here. Our power went out at 3:30 so of course I was scrambling to get my phone set up with a white noise app for the spawnling. Of course that means I also didn't sleep great - curse you technology! Guys I need thoughts. E has been waking up motn screaming and I know its poop related. When I change her she has streaks of blood in it. Google tells me shes constipated so we've been doing all the things, and shes going regularly it's just hard and hurts her to pass it. Any advice on making it softer? We are avoiding bulking foods, prune/prune juice, peaches, pears ect every day. Again, frequency isn't the issue. Related - anyone doing baby stool softeners? Taitai H is doing better! He changed his first diaper today lmao. To be fair to him, we do cloth and hes intimidated for sure. I got him some velcro ones so it's more familiar

cythe the same thing was happening to us with nighttime wake ups. Her stools are still pretty firm but pear juice and water (both by recommendation of pedi) seem to help. Yogurt also seems to help though too much has the opposite effect for us sometimes 😬 thatgirlrachel I think you recommended a probiotic awhile back that helped your LO with this...

Just picked up our CSA from the farm... I’ve been spending a small fortune on fresh fruit but it’s so delicious when it’s in season.
Not much going on this weekend, we just found out some friends of ours got a job offer and may be moving away. They are the glue that holds that social circle together so I’ll be a little sad if they end up going.

Made instant pot boiled eggs this morning with fresh bakery scones and summery fruit, such an easy, yummy breakfast!
I currently am trying instant pot yogurt for the first time, I am so excited! It takes 8 hours once it’s set and I’m just at the boiling stage so I won’t know if/how it turns out until like 6 pm, fingers crossed!

Saturday’s parenting fail: we needed to go get groceries and some school supplies for daycare next week. I thought we could squeeze it in between DD2’s morning nap and lunch time. We could not. By the time we got done it was 1:00 and no one had even eaten lunch. So DD1 will have to skip her nap (otherwise she will stay up till 10:00 by napping now!) and I won’t get the nap I was planning on when DD2 goes down. ☹️

LT for in-season delicious fruit August Blooms. So good. I went blueberry picking a few times and froze a bunch, so I'll enjoy those come winter. We went to a children's farmstead this morning and had lots of fun. LO rested but didn't nap in the stroller so we jacked up his schedule for the day. He's happy despite that, though. I recommend probiotics cythe. I'm partial to Klaire Labs Ther-biotic Infant formula but it is harder to get ahold of and requires refrigeration. I'm sure there are other great brands, def recommend trying one if you aren't already. Also, more water. I really love the age our littles are! So much discovery and learning and growing. 😍

I put DD in the bike trailer and rode to the playground this morning (DH stayed home with a napping DS and was mowing the lawn). As we are playing I hear a hissing sound...that sound was all the air coming out of my back bike tire, now totally flat. I realize at this point I left my phone charging at home. I borrowed another mom’s phone but DH doesn’t answer so I walked my bike home with DD riding along in the trailer. So, so, hot. We are going to community league swim tonight which will be nice since it just keeps getting hotter!

Taitai 😘 thank you for those words of encouragement! We did avocado today and she sort of ate it. H is going to get my BLW book down from the attic. I’ll feel more confident once I reread that. bootsorhearts1 thank you for all the sleeping tips for Thursday. I needed to read that and you really care thank you!😘 duskymonkey hope your little guy is doing alright.

I’m just going to spread more joy! I have mastitis!
This one didn’t follow the pattern from when I’ve had it before with my boys. It came out of nowhere and has been extra rough. H had to leave work yesterday bc I had a 102 and was so weak. I’m 24 hours into the antibiotics and have no more fever, no more chills and aches. Still weak and my infected breast is still painful.
If you had it this time or remember it from before, how long did your infected boob hurt? It’s been three years since Ive last had it and I can’t remember. Mine is still very painful.

rebeccabunch I hope the mastitis clears up fast for you! Down for the count with 3 littles probably doesn’t make for a restful recovery!

rebeccabunch, so sorry! I was just coming here to report that I suspect I might be getting mastitis. Clog, chills, and aches. Ugh. No fever though, so idk... I hope we both feel better asap.

cythe try apple juice, warmed up a little either in a sippy cup or bottle. Apparently the warming is key. Hope you find something that helps her. rebeccabunch mastitis 3 times here so far. Blerg. The last time it hit me hard and I had to take 2 days off work. It sucked but it was also kinda nice to stay in bed for 2 days without having to look after kids and be looked after be DH.

I was just saying that ive been stretched so thin with work and kids and baby sleep that my body really needed me to lounge and do nothing for days. It’s too bad it took mastitis to make it happen!

You will know by tomorrow when you wake up. Hopefully you can sleep!

I don’t mean this to be snarky but for some reason making my own yogurt grosses me out. Well I haven’t tried it yet, but it just finished and it looks like yogurt! The only ingredients are milk, vanilla, and yogurt starter (1/2 cup of high quality live culture yogurt, you only need this the first time and then you can use your own as starter). I wanted to try it for 3 reasons: no sugar/unnecessary ingredients, no unnecessary packaging, and cheaper!

I love the idea of cutting down on unnecessary packaging and being cheaper - but I’m fairly certain the only reason I like my Chobani Flip Greek yogurt is the sugar 😏

I got impatient and didn’t let it strain long enough so it’s runnier than I’d like personally. I do think next time I might cook it a bit longer too which apparently helps make it thicker, there is a range of cooking times so I randomly picked one. But the flavour is good! It’s not super sweet but I do eat plain yogurt and then sweeten with honey or berries regularly anyways so for me it’s good!
