cp3, are there other dots or just that one? How many would you say? That doesn't look like an allergic reaction to me, but its hard to tell. +1. Unless there were a lot more, I wouldn’t think that’s related to what she ate.

I wouldn’t have though allergic reaction either, allergic reactions don’t dissipate by themselves.
DS1 used to get weird redness around his mouth when eating eggs but it would fade by itself. Doctor said not allergy.

I gave eggs last week and afterwards she sounded congested and was spitting up every 5 minutes. We talked the doctor into an allergy referral since she also had a reaction (rash, congestion and vomiting) after I ate raw shrimp this summer and are already dairy free. I gave avocados the last 3 days and they gave her awful, green, stinky poop. We're still going to go ahead and try peanut butter soon but I'm nervous.

things have been going pretty well with solids, but i’m feeling not so smart right now.
we made it through nutbutters, wheat, dairy, and strawberries with no reactions. however, the first time i gave eggs (about a month ago) she ended up with a pretty bad rash on her face about 3 hrs later, no other symptoms. the problem is the day we did eggs, i went for a pretty long walk with her in the ergo facing me and she was rubbing her face back and forth and it was humid. so i wasn’t completely sure if food related or heat rash. i have rubbed eggs on her cheek a few times since then without any sort of reaction. i ended up doing eggs again last week and we ended up with another rash like 8 hrs later (not nearly as bad). i gave her some green pepper at lunch which was new for her (i clearly wasn’t thinking). do you guys think i should talk to pedi before trying eggs again? anyone have experience with sensitivities vs allergies? totally forgot how stressful this feeding thing is at first. eta: i know i need to call pedi about this, i guess i’m just looking for anecdotes/anyone to share ideas

polson the egg thing has happened to both my kids. My GP said it’s not an allergy and is common. DS1 grew out of it, I’m not sure when exactly. ETA: it only happened if they ate a mostly egg thing like scrambled eggs, never if they ate say pancake. It always went away by itself which an allergic reaction would not. I can’t remember what the GP said caused it, I want to say it was just that the egg irritated the skin which was already prone to irritation because of baby drool?

Eggs were the only thing I was told to avoid (and honey at a year)until 9 months. We’ve never had issues? I was more 🤦♀️ when I hear i should be feeding this baby solids three times a day. Who has time for that??

it’s frustrating to me that recommendations still vary. we were given green light on everything but honey for both girls at 6 mos. but, from what i’ve seen on google, the egg thing is often something that can be an issue early on. nevertoomanyshoes thanks for sharing the bit about how things with eggs weren’t an issue. i feel like i’ve hit a wall with food because of the eggs...i have been scared to give anything with eggs.

J eats solids at least once a day, twice if he isn’t napping when the girls have lunch, ain’t nobody got time for 3x a day. He’ll get a third meal when he can eat Cheerios in a bowl in the family room like his siblings.
Anybody start silly cups? J has been playing with one with water for a couple days now. He never took a bottle, and I just gave up trying last week. I’m hoping if I can get him to drink the shoot I can get him some milk that way. We have an event in 6w where he’ll be left with a sitter and his one jar of squash ain’t going to cut it.

Ugh the last two nights I’ve given DS2 dinner as well as breakfast and lunch (high fived myself for that) but then he’s wanted to feed 3-4 times overnight. OMG DNW. So no dinner tonight. I think more distracted nursing plus filling up on food that’s less calories is making him hungrier. At least I hope that’s what it is and not a new “normal” for him. Did I mention DNW?

He needed help tilting it high enough to get any water out. If I let him do it, he just chewed on the rim or the handle.

That seems to make sense. L is all over the place with MOTN wakeups so I can’t say I’ve seen that pattern here. Although all the grandmas in the world say “oh he’ll start STTN when he starts solids”.

I have been slack with proteins. Sleep consultant suggests more protein to help baby feel full longer and sleep better so late this afternoon when I was cutting chicken breast and veg for our dinner I threw some of that in a pot and made a purée for DS2.
He ate a whole bowl so obviously he’ll sleep through the night tonight hahahahahahaha yeah right

Update: chicken is not the answer, I repeat chicken is not the answer!
Little guy woke up for his first night feed at the exact same time as he does every night. Like to the minute lol.

I should have given you a heads up, chicken hasn’t been working over here either. Thanks to my 2yo I’ll be able to see if chocolate Chex mix is the answer. Hopefully she’ll stop crying long enough for me to tell her after getting sternly spoken to about feeding the baby.

DD1 has had chicken, Cheerios, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, watermelon, pizza (just nommed on the crust), and little tastes of ice cream and cake thanks to a birthday party. Green beans are still her favorite.
I’m not worried about introducing eggs too early TBH. My brother had a reaction to eggs if they were plain and quickly out grew it. Eggs are such an easy protein to offer.

Yeah last night was his worst for ages, was definitely hungry and woke to feed three times. Went back down awake so not a wanting to feed to sleep scenario. Gah, I’m so tired!

How is everyone getting their LOs to eat eggs? I have tried scrambled by itself and hiding hard boiled in cereal. He completely refuses to open his mouth. Eggs and one type of food pouch are the ONLY things he has refused so far.

After writing my original post though he has started refusing all food for no particular reason. Maybe teething? Both girls it back on food when their teeth hurt IME. Do you have a mesh feeder? I put frozen berries and fruit in it and give it to her while she’s in the tub. That way she won’t get too cold and there’s no mess to clean up. It seems to help her teeth a bit. It might be worth a try!

Mine has decided he hates purees and wants out food so he is eating gobs or our food at every meal. So much so that my period has returned he’s so big. I’m glad he likes food though!

I tried this at dinner last night and it was an epic fail. He is just being fussy with the food he will eat I think since he ate his breakfast this morning and yesterday morning but won't touch lunch or dinner.
