lupincat We had cut the morning nap to a very short nap and would wake her after 20 minutes. But she was waking up at 5am, and we thought that the morning nap was letting her do that - she'd wake up super early, then was able to sleep at 9:30 so she was fine. Going to 1 nap, we at least get until 5:45/6am. piratecat this is the second week since the switch. We've mostly adjusted so we drive/walk wherever we're going earlier, and if we're in the car and suspect she will sleep then one of us will ride in the back with her to keep her awake. I've wondered about moving naptime earlier (like 10 or 11am) and letting her take a very quick catnap at 4 or 5pm. Then moving the nap later. That's what she did when we transitioned to 2 naps, so maybe that would work.

I wish J would take a lovey - I made it for him and he DNGAF. 😒 Neither of my kids have ever taken to a lovey of any kind. They both love stuffed animals, just not for sleeping.

moutonrouge what does she do if you just leave her in her room awake? Most things say to treat a 5am wake up as just another MOTN wake up

moutonrouge what does she do if you just leave her in her room awake? Most things say to treat a 5am wake up as just another MOTN wake up Scream and cry. We've talked about just letting her cry until we go in to get her. Her room shares a wall with ours, so once she makes noise we're all awake. That was why we really wanted the 5am wakeups to stop. We are awake at 6am, so it's okay that she's up - we just can get through our own routines quicker when she sleeps a bit longer. The nighttime waking thread made me think about getting a light that turns green when she can be up. Maybe we could get one, and have it set for 6 at first, and then slowly move it back. She would probably catch on to that pretty quickly. And it would alleviate how bad I feel that she can hear us moving around but not coming to get her (which doesn't happen MOTN).

piratecat, given what you stated about the nap length and timing I would drop to one nap especially since he only gets one at DC. We follow most things according to DCs schedule and they essentially teach me how to parent. Lol.

Seriously, it was such a game changer for us when they made the association to it. Target carries them for $25-30. Amazon may be cheaper

AFM.
1. DD will be 2.5 next month
2. She gets one nap from 1pm to 3pm at DC. When she is home we usually do 11:30am to 1:30pm since I only get two days with her and we do stuff in the afternoons. She usually turns into a terror around 11:30 anyways but I learned a few days ago this is most likely due to hanger since she eats lunch at that time at DC.
3. At DC I have no idea what they do. At home it goes potty, diaper, maybe a story. She doesn't fight nap like she does bedtime.
I know this is super unpopular around HIH but I am breezy with both bedtime and naps. I get so little time with her and have to get errands and fun stuff all in, that a lot of times I will just rely on car naps. I may move bedtime up if she's a total nightmare.

piratecat , given what you stated about the nap length and timing I would drop to one nap especially since he only gets one at DC. We follow most things according to DCs schedule and they essentially teach me how to parent. Lol. His naps at daycare have always been all over the place and they are not typically very structured, although the toddler room seems a bit more so than the infant room. But yea, he seems to be doing fine on one nap and it's usally for a decent length of time so I think we are definitely gonna give it a go. Nap times have been a little stressful lately so I'm really hoping this will help.

1. How old is/are your LO(s)? 9.5 months/3.5 years old 2. How many naps? What time of day? Where? 2 naps, mid morning & late afternoon (usually 11 and 330pm), in his crib/1 nap only at school and he usually doesn't sleep lol 3. Naptime routine? Nurse to very tired/after lunch 4. Questions? Nope. I'm ok nursing to sleep with ds2 for the time being. I SAH so it works for us. Ds1 doesn't nap much anymore.

Yes, that’s what we currently have. You program it with your phone via Bluetooth connection. It’s a sound machine and lights up. I have it set for red (you can adjust the brightness and color) for night time. It changes to green at wake up time. We use the wave sound. I like that it’s all automatic so I don’t have to turn it on or change things manually- I do turn it off manually but you can turn it off automatically after a certain point If you have a buy buy baby, you can use a 20% off on it.

1.How old is/are your LO(s)? 11 months 2. How many naps? In a transition to one nap. Baby lead, just rolling with it. Been taking a long one at 11. But then she changes it up on me some days wanting to sleep at 9 and 3 again. Where? Always crib, unless accidentally in the car 3. Naptime routine? I guess not 4. Questions? Am I doing this right ? 🤷🏻♀️ You’re doing great!

One nap: 11am-ish at home; 1:30pm at daycare 3. Routine? Um. Sleep sack and dump in crib. Lol. 4. No questions. Since the beginning, I’ve let her lead me in sleep habit. She was a good leader.

Yesterday was 1h 15m, today was a little over 1.5 hr, but he was sleeping that much or longer for his morning nap, plus another 30-45m in the afternoon. At daycare he usually sleeps 2-2.5 hours. 😒

It also could be an adjustment and it will get longer little by little.

sheilathetank are you implying that hanging out with me all day is not as exciting as watching 10 toddlers screaming and running around all day?? I’ve gotta step up my game here.

Actually better than it has been. He still doesn’t go down for naps and bedtime quietly like he used to though. We also cut our his 5AM nursing session for the first time today and he actually did pretty well.

Sucks that you aren't getting the length of nap, but at least he isn't a beast because of it.

Sorry, but I laughed way too hard at this. Nothing is excited as 10 toddlers running around as chickens all day. My 3.5 year old did not nap today. He spent two hours at the playground and is still wide awake at 5pm. Dear lord, may he sleep tonight

DD took a 30 min stroller nap at 10:30 and snoozed for a minute while nursing at 4. And that's all for today. Please let her sleep in tomorrow, I'll do anything!

1. How old is/are your LO(s)? Turned 2 in early July
2. How many naps? What time of day? Where?
One nap, 1-3pm in his crib. Sometimes he sleeps longer but I wake him by 3:30.
3. Naptime routine?
I just pop him into his sleeping bag, close his curtains, and put him in the crib.
