Speaking of maternity leave...
What are your plans? How long will you take off? Do you get a paid leave? Plans for other children?

I'm not sure how it will play out for me. If I stay at my current job, I'm eligible for 13 weeks off. I don't know if any of it is paid by my employer. In my state, you get 8 weeks paid leave from the state (about 50% of my salary for those 8 weeks). But it can take a couple of months to process the claims and receive the payment. We pay our nanny based off my paycheck. I know we'll have to offer her some money or hours to stay with us through my leave, because she is my childcare plan once I go back. I don't know how many hours it would take to get her to stay with us. There's no way I can afford to pay her full-time while out on leave.
However, I hate my job and I'm actively looking for a new one. If I get an offer, my biggest hope would be 12 weeks unpaid leave. I will negotiate for that rather than for salary or another aspect of the offer. Again, some of whatever leave I'll take will be paid by the state.

I took 12 weeks with my first, but was ready to go back at 10. DS1 was colicky. I get 6 weeks 60% paid 🙄. With DS2, I planned on going back at 10 weeks l, but ended up sick with a stomach bug so didn’t go back til 11 weeks.
I plan on taking 12 again this time, since this is my last 😢, if we can swing it financially. Bye savings.
My 3 year old will be in preschool 2 mornings a week. I’ll probably have DS2 home with me everyday 😬. I’ve had 2 winter babies before, but the thought of a newborn and TWO toddlers at home in the middle of winter has me terrified. If the past rainy weekend was any indication, god help me. My mom watches my boys 1-2 days a week now while I’m at work, so I’m hoping she will take them at least once a week for a few hours, but that never really happened last time so I’m not hopeful.

I can take 12 weeks with a (very) partial payment for 6 weeks, then I will have to use PTO for the remainder if I want an income. Luckily, our PTO is distributed as a lump sum at the beginning of the year, so I'll have that plus my carryover hours from this year to use. MIL will probably stay with us to help for a week or so, then DS will be in DC for another few weeks until I get my feet under me. MH is a nurse and only works 3 days every week, so we *should* be able to manage the cost of childcare until I'm ready to manage two kiddos solo. And I'll take forbearance on my student loan payment which will help tremendously.

I have STD that will pay 60% of my salary for 8 weeks if I have a c section which is likely the plan (6w otherwise). I'd love to take 12 but we have to look at what we can swing financially. SO's hours at work got cut back a couple of months ago so that plays into it as well. DS starts K this fall so that will help with childcare costs a lot. DD will still go to her babysitter 4 days a week because it is ridiculously cheap. I am one of those crazy people that love the newborn period and I'm already so excited about maternity leave.

I didn't take any maternity leave with ds1 or 2. They were both summer babies, and that is a slower time for me at work. I work part time and much of it can be done from home, so I was able to make it work by doing extra before they were born and then just responding to emails and doing computer work from home. I could also take the kids with me when I did need to go in.
With this one, I did mention it to my boss that I may need a little time off or more flexible time since this one will be born during a busier time at work. I can't imagine having to go to a meeting a few days after giving birth depending on when he comes! So I'll wait to hear on the outcome.

This is fascinating. Those of you who have this figured out with multiple kiddos, wow.
The end of this school year ended my teaching/admin career. I was planning on writing full time, but it's on hold while I'm too nauseous to think or spend time on a screen, and with a kid to care for it'll be a part time thing I'm sure. Do regret that I didn't just stay on for now... Could have been paid over summer break, then worked a couple months and then gotten paid leave. Oh well. After ten years TTC with no idea when we'd have success, I couldn't put my writing plans on hold any longer!
DH is thrilled that NYS recently implemented parental leave. He'll get 10 weeks at 55% pay to be taken in whatever increments anytime in the year after baby's born. He plans to do two weeks at the birth, two weeks in May for a trip with my parents and siblings to the outer Banks, and then the rest as we can afford it probably on 3-day weekends or random Wednesdays off or something to help me get a break. He'll be able to take this leave instead of his regular vacation and get paid his unused vacation days.
My mom works insane hours but will probably take a few days to help me when DH goes back. My dad works a lot but owns his own business so I am hoping he'll be flexible enough to help when needed.
My little brother is local and also works for himself, I know he'll be a great help.

I'm so in a bind about this.
My work offers no paid maternity leave and there were some issues going on with insurance companies for getting short term disability coverage so I no longer qualify for that during maternity leave. We get our vacation pay at the start of the year so we'll have that but it doesn't stretch far. I'm looking for new work but I'm worried I won't qualify for FMLA if I do that, which is how I took 12 weeks off with DS2.
So basically, no idea.

I switched to part-time when DS1 was born so I'm not eligible for any leave now My company has unlimited PTO but you can only take 4 weeks consecutively so I guess I'll take those 4 weeks and go from there. I may just not go back, we'll see.

With DS1 I thought I was going back part-time, but it turned into a mess. I took 12 weeks FMLA (only paid out the sick leave I had accumulated, no paid leave) and then ended up quitting. I have SAH ever since. With DS2, DH took off a week and my mom ended up staying a little longer because my recovery was rough, but it was just me and the two boys after two weeks.
This one my folks will be traveling, but I am hoping to heaven they will consider flying back for a week. My ILs are NOT helpful post partum and will not be asked to come help until I am ready for company. DH's work is supposedly considering paternity leave which would be so cool! FX they enact it for the new year. If my folks can't help, I will make DH take 2 weeks and then it will be me and the three kids. DS1 will be in school full time which will help immensely.

I haven’t been at my company long enough for FMLA. I think they have another kind of short term medical I can take. I haven’t told them yet so we will see. I don’t think I’ll get paid anything which will really be rough but I plan to take 8 weeks. I’m not crazy about my job honestly so maybe leave will be a good time for me to look for something else. I really don’t see how the US doesn’t have paid maternity leave for a reasonable amount of time for new moms but that is a whole other thread!

I’d like to take the full 16 wks that CT FMLA allows. It’s so early in the year so it’s less than ideal in terms of PTO. I’ll take 6 wks STD, then will only have 2 wks of PTO to carryover. So looking at 2 months unpaid... with saving it will be tight, but I think we can do it
